nadal got outplayed by soderling how embarrassing, couldnt even get to the final, and defend his crown, at least wen roger was dethroned he actually made it to the final unlike nadal
Why are Roger's fans big losers? Because they are obsessed (and afraid) of Nadal and his rivalry with Federer. Every time they speculate about young Nadal getting hurt and leaving tennis. Is that not being a looser? They are counting on Rafael getting hurt because if he is out of the way Roger will have it easier (as we saw in RG last year!!)
Sorry dude, but we are NOT LOSERS. that > "roger will have it easier as we saw in rolang garros last year" IS STUPID.
He beat the guy who previously had beaten Nadal. AND He hasn't won 16 GS because he got where he is easily...he had to work really HARD.
As for Nadal's career, I WISH HIM THE BEST. He's a great player and I also love him. And I'm sick and tired of this never ending battle beetwen Roger's fans vs Rafa's fans. Get over ir people, you should enjoy them!
@YoSoyZuri I dont think your theory is correct. I am a RF fan, but I also really like Nadal. RF didn't have to beat Nadal last year at RG, but that was Nadal's fault, not Fed's.
Both commentators below me are making weird assumptions. Obviously Federer wants Olympic Gold, that's a BIG duh. He even said so himself . I think he probably plans to retire soon after 2012 Olympicm IF he wins gold, if not then he will play a couple of years longer than that, but that's just me.
As for the guy saying Fed supporters are BIG LOSERS. uh... nothing needs to be said about how stupid that comment was. lol
Every one dreams of holding an Olympic Gold medal in whatever... in tennis it is not different. Any player will say that. To have Olympic Gold in Tennis is something very important for a career. Off course the loosers here will say that their looser player did not want to win a Gold Medal!!!
Considering how close their career records are, we can be sure of how their records will end. What is clear is tha Federer has won his titles in 11 YEARS so we can not compare that to Rafa who has only been competing for 7.
Most experts say he is ARGUBLY the best player but not every expert agree. Experts also think that Rafa dominates Roger because he simply tends to win their matches and that means something! Experts also argue that since Nadal is still improving and has played 4 years less than Federer there is no way to know how they will compare in the future!!! But clearly Nadal has won more than Federer in the same time (7 years) we will see what happen later!
In 7 YEARS ... Federer won 33 titles: --- 6 Grand Slams (none on clay) -- 8 Masters --- played 26 Majors -won 6 Grand Slams --- at 24 years of age Nadal also in 7 YEARS (his career) --- 6 Grand Slams (on ALL surfaces) --- 15 Masters --- Olympic Gold (on hard court) --- played 21 Major -won 6 Grand Slams --- at only 22 years of age Statistics win/loss: Federer: 6/26 GS (19%) & 8/41 Masters (26%) Nadal: 6/21 GS (28%) & 15/46 Masters (33
All are records, some by large margins, surpassing the achievements of such greats of the game as Pete Sampras, Bjorn Borg, Rod Laver, John McEnroe. All were achieved during a remarkable run of dominance that began in 2003, building a case for Switzerlands Federer to be selected as The Associated Press Athlete of the Decade.
ryan50500 ... that is a bad excuse., reaching his peak is a silly comment. I never hear experts saying that, only fans!! It matters a lot what a record of a player says! The fact remains that Rafael has done more and better than Federer in 7 years. We can not say that Rafael has reached his peak as he is too young for that and he has proved those who said that a couple of year a go wrong, He has and still is improving and winning more!!!!
nobody gives a shit about Olympics in tennis! And just how many finals has Nadal reached in comparison to Federer? What about Grand Slams? What about the ranking of Number 1? Oh wait, 46 WEEKS! LOLOLOLOL, not even a full year!
hahhaha ,..., off course not..... notbody wants to win olympic GOLD .. just like notbody wants to be rich, or good looking, or sucessful, or famous, etc
What ever you say you can't hide the fact that Federer has played for 11 years, Rafa only 7. So whatever Federer has won he has taken 4 years more than Rafa to do it. You can't give one player 11 yrs to win titles & another player give him only 7- so you can't compare to Fed's current titles (you could in 4 yrs time)!
Roger has been competing for 11 yrs Rafa 7!! So fan Rafa has won much quicker than Roger ... the same number of Grand Slams 6 but 7 Masters more than Roger (and on all surfaces). Roger has taken 11 yrs to win a GS on clay!! Roger may be better technically but Nadal is the best champion.. the greatest winner!!

hahaha I love how happy and confident Rafael looks what a contrast to the crying Federer of the AO. Rafa knows that loosing a match sometimes is the normal thing because he is human. However, he also knows that he always catch up..
Roger Federer in the same number of years as Rafael (7 yrs)=
6 GS (but none on clay)
8 Masters
Rafael=
6 GS (on all surfaces)
15 Masters
AND Olympic Gold (on hard-court)
Nadal in 7 years has won more and broken more records than Federer and he has done it being younger. We can't compare his current titles because Roger has had more than 4 years more to win them than Rafa!!
@Jaishankar100 if you re suisse than you can speak german automatically, he doesnt speak swedish, and there are about 15 other languages in europe my friend.
the real nos 1 is back.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Congrats Roger.!!!Already 27 but still winning major slams and no signs of weakening Knees!!!!!!Wohoooo!
I love Federer and Nadal - they are great sportsmen - the respect they have for each other despite their rivalry. They are a great example to other sportsmen.
you know what - when Roger lost his top spot in rankings because of his back injury and weak performance because of it - nobody was defending him... so if Rafael has injury now and can't play his best - there's no reason to defend him, it just means that a better player will win over him and take the trophy home - it's sport and it all depends on sportsmen's health and ability to make a good performance. Personally I am very glad to see Roger back on top of his game!!! Love you, Rog!
This is what Roger the MASTER federer needs to do to this Nadal. Ive always said it, mixing up hisgame, Roger's first serves in more consistently and main of all mentally being the winner on the court all through the match is the key factors for Roger get past the nadal challenge , roger has brushed of many challenges in the past, i believe nadal will be dusted off too ..if roger can keep playing his 'A' game - without mental insecurity
actually in Nadal's interview he sed he was not tired, but did not reach his full potential. That is why I respect Nadal, as he knew he was beaten FAIRLY by the better player on the day!
True. Nadal doesn't criticize other players, he just says he didn't play well, he had a bad day, so he lost, and things like that happen. No excuses for how blah blah he didn't do this or that, and always complimenting and paying respect for the winner. He and Roger are really classy athletes.

I am Rafa fan, and I wanted Roger winning this match, cuz his rivalry is amazing to watch, and another defeat by Roger maybe it would be his end. But you all Fed fans are so arrogant, obviously Rafa didnt play at his best, and obviously Roger cant win him again in a major playing like hes playing right now. Nadal is at his prime, and he is unbeatable playing at his level. He will complete the grand Slam. Roger only have chances in New York, and maybe Wimbledon.
He can't he is going to get injured more often and burn out and when Federer's not in the final then Murray could be who could beat Nadal apart from on clay and Roddick has improved so he could also present some problems. If djokovic learns how to close out matches when he is against players ranked above him then he could beat Nadal.
rafa unbeatable now? but he just got beaten, like i just said, nadal has a long way to go before he catches up to roger, plus federer has much more confidence now that he beat rafa on CLAY and in his home country, where he should have had the advantage, if anyone is arrogant it is the nadal fans.
You shouldnt say stupid things. I said he is unbeatable now PLAYING AT HIS LEVEL. He just was tired after than 4 hours super match against Nole in the semi. Nadal had won ALL the claycourt tournaments this year. Fed only this. Arrogant are the fed fans saying those lies. When both are fit Nadal wins Federer since 2007, thats the truth.
Nadal has 6 slams, beating Federer 6 times. Federer has 13 slams, beating Nadal only 2. Grand Slams against mediocre players like Roddick, Rios or Safin, isnt the same than winning slams against "the master"Federer.
Roddick isn't mediocre, Federer and Nadal make him and other players look mediocre, and Nadal would not have won the australian this year if he had been playing someone like Murray, Federer's game is the perfect game for Nadal which is why he beats him so often, Roger could have beaten Nadal if he wasn't so stubborn and changed his game.
you forget that roger is older and has been on tour, longer than rafal, let´s see how many slam´s rafa will have when he´s 27..for the record, im not implying rafa´s going to have 15 by then either!
You are saying really stupid things. Rafael played a 5-plus hour match against Fernando at Australia, and Roger beated Andy comfortably in 3 sets in the semifinals in Australia... meaning that Rafael had less energy left than Roger for the final... and he still WON... so the 4-plus hour match can't be an excused for Nadal's fans, talking about a match that was even played on CLAY... Roger beated Rafael FAIRLY...admit it!
Even a blind saw Nadal was tired. If you had seen matchs between those two guys, you see Nadal was tired in this game, He couldnt move the body well in the baseline like he does always. And that was a FAIRLY victory by Roger because Nadal should lose against Djokovic in the semifinals who played a hell of match. And you dont compare verdasco match with 1 day more to rest, and Rafa didnt play 5 finals in a row on clay like those last weeks until Madrid final. He was obviously bad phisically
I have seen 7 of the 20 matches between Rafael and Roger. And of course that Rafael was tired because of the 4-plus hour match with Djokovich, but that isn`t a excuse for losing to Roger on CLAY. Just admit it, you think that Roger can`t beat a 100% Rafael. Did you know that Rafael had a double-break point chance in the final game of that match? Why didn`t he convert at least one of those two points? He had his chances, but didn`t do it, and that doesn`t have anything to do with being tired.
I disagree. We wont see them playing at their best one against the other. Nadal at his primer is NOW. Roger at his prime was 2006. But Roger been number 1 lost against Nadal in FO 09 and Wimbledon 09. The changing of the guard.
all i was really saying was that nadal... he can play at roger's level but (not trying sound arrogant) rafa will never be able to match federer's slam count and dominance at the australian, wimbledon and US opens, actually if anyone has a chance at federer at the US open this year all my bets are on roddick, but if roger can pull together 16... or more, you must admit there never was and probably never will be a greater player
In time there will be..it only took a couple of years after Sampras retired to find a greater player then him so nothing is a certainty. Hopefully Roger can win another few more slams though so his record won't be beaten for a while..
Federer conquered Roland Garros, Nadal failed to continue his dominance, and now it seems that Federer will battle for no. 1 once again. Apart from that, they are obviously incredible players and athletes(to me Federer is already the greatest ever so far), so, the real comparison between these two should be made after the end of their careers. Till then, let's just enjoy their rivalry... and may the best win! Hope to see them fight for a lot of Grand Slam finals in the future...
JUST PROVES IT AT HIIS BEST HE IS SIMPLY THE BEST OF NOW AND ALL TIME ....... i still thik even now he is past his best and week in week out performances like this we will still c roger win many titles :)

No man, Rafa doesnt cry in defeat like your idol. I am so excited Roger won again, hes a master and I hope he can do well like always, but man, Rafa will crush him again in the French...no doubt it...
I like Rafa to but this is a Masters 1000 event not a grand slam. If Rafa lost the French Open to anyone, he might get a little emotional. May never see it though.
He ist lucky roger wasnt lucky he just played awsomely and really good on this match, to be lucky and good playing tennis isnt the same thing just thik about it.
the last sentence ^^ i love this slight arrogance :D still a great sportsman :)

Nadal has 6 slams, beating Federer 6 times. Federer has 13 slams, beating Nadal only 2. Grand Slams against mediocre players like Roddick, Rios or Safin, isnt the same than winning slams against "the master"Federer.

But Federer has more slams, hence is better. That's what counts.

if ur slamming rog so much why are u taking pride in the 6 GS that RN won against rog!!.. it jus goes to show how huge rog is.. !!
freshglance 2 years ago 2
Roddick isn't mediocre, Federer and Nadal make him and other players look mediocre, and Nadal would not have won the australian this year if he had been playing someone like Murray, Federer's game is the perfect game for Nadal which is why he beats him so often, Roger could have beaten Nadal if he wasn't so stubborn and changed his game.

you forget that roger is older and has been on tour, longer than rafal, let´s see how many slam´s rafa will have when he´s 27..for the record, im not implying rafa´s going to have 15 by then either!
reefric 2 years ago
yeah then keep that to yourself, i have my own views and you have yours.
abudanche 2 years ago
it´s not my view, im just stating the fact´s, nadal, murray, djokovic are much younger than roger is..roger is practically a tour veteran already.

like i said i have my own views and you have.

Roger beated Rafael FAIRLY...admit it!
mariomarcano 2 years ago

He had his chances, but didn`t do it, and that doesn`t have anything to do with being tired.

wen both are fit and at their best roger will beat nadal on all surfaces except clay FACT
eddieTHEGREAT999 2 years ago
I disagree. We wont see them playing at their best one against the other. Nadal at his primer is NOW. Roger at his prime was 2006. But Roger been number 1 lost against Nadal in FO 09 and Wimbledon 09. The changing of the guard.
TurboKock 2 years ago
all i was really saying was that nadal... he can play at roger's level but (not trying sound arrogant) rafa will never be able to match federer's slam count and dominance at the australian, wimbledon and US opens, actually if anyone has a chance at federer at the US open this year all my bets are on roddick, but if roger can pull together 16... or more, you must admit there never was and probably never will be a greater player
nekonaru16 2 years ago

No man, Rafa doesnt cry in defeat like your idol. I am so excited Roger won again, hes a master and I hope he can do well like always, but man, Rafa will crush him again in the French...no doubt it...
TurboKock 2 years ago
I like Rafa to but this is a Masters 1000 event not a grand slam. If Rafa lost the French Open to anyone, he might get a little emotional. May never see it though.

tears is not a sign of weakness.. and roger isnt afraid to show that...

thats the way to win grand slams you dumb fuck, easy points!
and thats exactly the reason why nadal will be burnt out much sooner and wont come close making 18 grand slam finals in his career
