  • hey i found out that there would be another station after 69th st. It's Aspen woods right? Why dont they build it now instead of later?

  • So McKnight/Westwinds is connecting to the West LRT and instead of "City Centre", it'll be"69th Street".

  • i like the westbrook station.

  • What is the music in the background?

  • About FREAKIN' time you guys get smart and start using elevated guideways like us in Vancouver instead of that at-grade shit to tie up traffic. What a stupid concept that was! Go underground, above ground or not at all.

  • Awesome!!! Can't wait!!!

  • They shud legalize graffit on the pillars for the elevated part, shits ugly!, Also we need like 10 more lrt lines please

  • the city should throw the lrt underground and put the S.E. Leg in and the North Central leg in

  • Beautifu. Love it the underground station and tracks.

  • 2:05 cool animations

  • that elevation is u-g-l-y, unless they allow grafitti/art on the pillars. and please tell me the stations will look nicer in RL than on this model..

hahaha, and i love how the lrt bypasses sunalta... enjoy your stagnant property rates, suckers!

  • can't wait till this is built...

  • @TrippNickerson Calgary train transit should be more rollercoaster like whooo wooo maybe in the near future.

  • i am working on the 45th street station. Cool project.

  • @onuroner2 Cool, can't wait for it to open and take a train out for a spin on it

  • Calgary needs an aiport - downtown lrt and also linking the northern suburbs.

  • @003MrAT Yes Running the length of deerfoot, then into the core maybe via a extra track on memorial

  • edmonton's lrt also has problems in the summer with leaks and they have constant repairs so underground is not always good

  • I also think more of this line should have been planned underground.

  • Agreed, Edmonton went underground and spent alot of money, with money saved you can build more. It makes more sense to build underground downtown, and build above or at grade near major roads.

  • Also need an LRT line to the SE..Mackenzie Town, Douglasdale, Foothills industrial park, New Brighton. A lot of people work in the Foothills Industry park, ever been on the bus around 330-400 on a weekday or 6-8 am in the foothills?? MASS CROWDING!

  • I Agree, unfortunately the line is 10 years away. New LRT service should also go through foothills industrial park, I am a Transit operator and have driven packed buses and Ctrains with over 700 people onboard in rush hour!!! Its nuts!! Love my Job!!

  • Good to see this new line as part of Calgary's growing city development. Very much needed for the West LRT.

However, what Calgary needed MORE than the West LRT was the North LRT. Communities like Macewan, Hidden Valley, Country Hills, Coventry Hills, Panorama, Kincora are all ignored by the Calgary transit where they desperately need an LRT line, ESPECIALLY Hidden Valley.

  • the part comming out of downtown looks like vancouver skytrain. I really wish they made an underground line through downtown image how much faster it will be!!

  • The Westbrook station looks cool. Like Calgary's own little mini subway.

  • funky music and this will be built in front of my tower

i got chills of excitement when i watched this.

What I would like to know is why does wesbrook have to be underground the only one?

This is LONG overdue for this city!

  • Dave is a pancake head... Ive followed his moves since 2002

  • @mycenaeanmusic if dave is so horrible YOU run for mayor

  • @garycalgary he probably lacks the $1.2 million, social conservatism, and perpetual pledge to a) get more police & b) build more roads that is essential to win in a mayoral race in calgary.

  • Funny thing, I just noticed that they are using series 5-6 SD160s, with the new livery! Currently the series 7 SD160s have the new livery and soon series 8 (maybe 9 buy the time Calgary gets them next year!)

  • Excellent video. We've needed a LRT line to the SW for a long time now

  • The west leg of the LRT is almost $1B including new LRVs

  • Actually it is $556 million to put it up and running in 6 different phases. I think we already pay too much for the ticket anyway so it will be like $1000000 for the monthly pass. But the project is VERY necessary regardless of the price. Land acquisition was cheaper then expected though cause the prices dropped.

  • This video is rumored to have cost over $125,000.00!

  • i see it's your first subway and elevated staiton. Calgaries is bigger because our council rather blow money on arts and festivals instead on public tranportation. Our mayer is a "redneck" builds a new expensive art gallery (what was wrong with the old art gallery) and many other unneeded infranstruture.

  • Agreed. "Pave it again Dave", the mayor, is a freaking disaster.

  • @SPS148669 LOL no calgary doesn't have an art scene
