Elvis gave lots of credit to whom ever what artist he covered, he spoke many times about how great the people were who he covered, He pushed it forward because of the MEDIA...Work it out its still going on now with crap like this video.
He may or may not have been a racist only Elvis knows but the fact is he STOLE all of his music and style from black preformers and gave them no credit for it. Because of that Elvis is a THEIF and a scoundrel he got famous because he was a great white entertainer preforming black music. You can blame it on him and the times that he preformed in, end of story.
@12Aggiefan Actually, he did give credit to other performers including Big Mama Thornton, & Little Richard. He blended music and styles from many sources and didn't hide where it came from and that's how music evolves. The big hit, Hound Dog, 1st recorded by Big Mama was written by two Jewish guys, Leiber and Stoller. Then Elvis sang it. Blue Moon of Kentucky was the anthem of Bill Monroe and Elvis sang it with a different beat. I don't think it's theft it's how culture is passed on.
@mrpitv The fact is he was the white face on black music he admits it and so does every music person in that industry at the time and right now. Know black person was able to sale or become famous do to racism so they needed a white entertainer to market black person. Also Elvis didn't write any of his songs nearly all were from black musicians and those artists never got credit ie Money. Typical revisionism by Elvis worshippers.
@12Aggiefan "nearly all his songs were from black musicians?" Wrong, wrong, wrong. Was Carl Perkins black? Mae Axton? Leiber/Stoller? Doc Pomus? Mark James? Mac Davis? Dennis Linde? Tony Joe White? Baker Knight? Get your facts straight before spreading these lies. If you had asked James Brown, Little Richard, B.B. King, Fats Domino, Sammy Davis, Jr, Ike Turner, they would all tell you Elvis was one of the greats. I'll take their opinions over yours.
@12Aggiefan Yes Elvis music and style of performance was definitely of a black style. But what his so called theft diid was expose black music and style to the world which I believe in turn made the world curious about black music and its artists. So If it was not for Elvis, perhaps all of our black artists would not be as popular as they are today. Do you agree ?
@09201951ful not really since he profited with his fame and legend status and with millions of dollars while they were left with nothing. Elvis is what a racist country at the time needed a White man who can sing and dance and play black music and be a star. They couldn't have a black do that in those times because of the racism so they needed a white star to be a face of this new black music and Elvis was that. Doesn't make him a racist just an opportuntist.
@12Aggiefan If Elvis was nothing more than a so called "Thief" then why did so many of his black peers hold him in high-esteem & praise him for postively impacting Black music?? It wasnt Elvis who denied blacks their due credit but the unfair System & music publishers. The thief comes only to steal, kill & destroy - but Elvis dared to do in the light of day what White America had been doing in the sneak-thief anonymity of night - he consorted on a human level with blacks - thats the BIG picture.
@12Aggiefan That's another lie told about Elvis Presley. The video called ELVIS PRESLEY - BLACK MUSIC INFLUENCE, proves that Elvis never stole NOTHING from black people. His had his own style. Name 1 black artist who sounded like Elvis ??? In the video I Just named you will find that all the black FOUNDERS of Rock n Roll give Elvis credit. And Chuck Berry calls Elvis the greatest. I've given you my references, can you please give me yours ???
So it would have been okay if Elvis was only influenced by white artists but not black artists? Maybe you'd prefer it, too, if white people didn't LISTEN to black music. So who's the racist here?
Wow. It seems that no one who commented on this video actually watched the video. HE'S NOT RACIST YOU DIPSHITS. Watch the goddamn video. I'm not saying Flava Flav isn't a credible source for information, I'm just saying you're idiots.
elvis stole music from black peolpe and he is racist. stupid people come from all around the world to see his house NO BIG DEAL i ride pass there everyday and its crowded white folks taking pics and shit im'a ride pass graceland and piss on his wall LOL
Well he owned a land with a huge white cross; do you think that was huge belief in divine faith, or an interest in the racist group the Klu Klux Klan? Hmm... I wonder...
This is why am doing some research or looking up,My Mother has always said Elvis is racist,i ask her today how do you know that or where did you heard it (she's 56yrs old) she answers i forgot where i heard it from but I know he was,We are a Mexican Family
@8312356364 . Do you seriously think if Elvis was a racist he would have had black singers in his band in the 70's, publicly credit black artists for their influence at a time when it was taboo to be associated with blacks and have J.brown and Sammy jnr as close friends .Many black people are bitter at Elvis' success and spread this or that he stole from black music. In Bob Marley's Bio he said Elvis was an influence. Does that mean he stole from Whites? Mj influnced by Beatles (same story)
Elvis never recorded any of Bobby Bland's songs he was a very influential Beale Street Blues artist who logged over 60 hits on the R&B charts and was a longtime friend of B.B King.
ELVIS PRESLEY CHANGED MUSIC. BLACKS SAY HE STOLE THEIR MUSIC IN FACT HE WAS BRANDED BY WHITE REDNECKS AS A WHITE NIGGER.THE WHITE COUNTRY MUSIC SCENE DID NOT WANT HIM ANY WHERE NEAR NASHVILLE.ELVIS WAS POOR WHITE TRASH AS A KID.HE MIXED WITH BLACK KIDS.ELVIS LOVED BLUES ,COUNTRY.GOSPEL MUSIC AND GAVE US HIS IDEA OF HOW HE FELT WHEN HE SUNG THOSE CLASSICS.HIS MUSIC TOOK AWAY COLOUR AND TOLD THE WORLD MUSIC HAS NO COLOUR.THE ONLY PEOPLE BOTHERED ARE YOU WHITE AND BLACK BIGGOTS LIVING IN THE USA
why are people getting so mad that he was a racist or not i mean most likely he was since he was a southern boy and i mean come on during those periods more than 90 % of the white people in the south where racist !!!!! come on makes sense doesnt it point is he is and always will be a legend no matter if he was racist or not its the way he was raised up deal with it
@marycockburn1 not sure what you're referring too. Are you commenting on the video clip or the comments? The video we posted clearly states that Elvis was not a racist and debunks this as an urban myth.
@casita125 your a complete blind pethtic fool who knows nothing elvis presley racist yeah right you need to do so real research my friend. dont believe all what you read . i will fight you to the death to prove you a billion times over that elvis was no racist
so if elvis was a racist why then in 1970 when him and his backing singers the sweet insperations when they did the international hotel vagas why did elvis stick up for them why he heard that. the management refused to let them stay. so elvis said if they cant stay nor will i. does that sound like someone whos racist. and that is 100% true story get your facts right before you open your gob
Elvis was a hero to most But, he never meant shit to me... you see. Straight up racist that fucker was... Simple and plain. MotherFuck him and John Wayne...
@DLcKxFTR This "quote" from Chuck D's "anthem" apparently has been retracted by Chuck D...The Chuck D of today is not the same angry Chuck D of 1989 as far as his perspective & understanding on Elvis goes -which makes this "quote" out of date and even obsolete.Chuck D has explained that he was "attacking" essentially the iconic image of Elvis - NOT the man and he has found that there is no truth in this urban myth/legend.The truth YOU choose to believe makes it your just OWN personal reality.
@bronson1921 did i say i believe in it? better yet, did i even say that it was the truth? you are putting words in my mouth. all i did was post a quote fom a song, nothing more. not once did i mention chuck D, or say that it was the truth. you are just making assumptions and in turn, making yourself look like an ass....
@DLcKxFTR Ooooohhhh who needs to calm down now eh? You wanted to quote the quote to reinforce the Elvis "racist" myth or probably stir up a debate for which you have otherwise why say the quote?
@DLcKxFTR So...you honestly didnt expect, in your heart of hearts, a response by posting this "quote from a song" which BTW is automatically linked with the man who wrote and sang it?...What exactly was the purpose of posting it if you werent using it to express your personal view?...Surely, you wasnt using the "quote" to slander just for the sake of slandering?...I dont think intelligent people slander just for the sake of it?
@bronson1921 how was I traying to slander him? did i make up that quote? no. did i post it in anger? no. did i say that it was true or that i believed in it? no. all i did was post a famous quote that had to do with this subject. wether or not it is true it is still a famous quote. you need to stop making assumptions about other peoples beliefs and focus on yourself. go get laid. seems like your pent up kid
@DLcKxFTR Is this "quote" really that famous?...or do you really mean infamous?...There's a difference between the two which can make all the difference to this subject matter, which I'm sure your intelligence will tell you?
@bronson1921 lol you know what? FUCK ELVIS lol.... you seem to be really on the guys nutsack. i was only posting a quote but since your getting all mad because a stange post lyrics from a song im going to give you what you want. Fuck elvis he's a rascist blah blah blah... get a life dude. you're pathetic
@DLcKxFTR Thank you for the wonderful compliments!..I strongly suggest to you to post quotes in future by the likes of Rev. Jesse Jackson, Rev. Ralph Abernathy, Ernest Withers, James Brown and Eldridge Cleaver etc. who all have commented on this subject of Elvis, race and prejudice and their quotes are even more interesting than the one you posted!!...god bless
@bronson1921 ohh i get it know, i've seen your page. your an elvis groupie. no wonder your so defensive about him. lol you should take a chill pill kill bill, and not get angry over some guy who's been dead for years. how are you seriously going to get upset and go threw all this just to prove a point that i really dont give a damn about. i dont care if he was rascist or not. i just like the song "fight the power" and wether or not the uote was true, it was a pretty dope vers. peace"
@DLcKxFTR I, too like the song "fight the power"...its a classic rap song.. but it doesnt mean one has to agree and identify with the entire message in the song. lol
@bronson1921 you still not getting me.. not once did i say that i agree OR that i identify with the song. you are just making assumptions.. god, how thick is your head lol i repeated this statement atleast 5 times already -_-
@bronson1921 but that's what im saying. we were never talking about personal opinions or beliefs. it just about a the quote. then all of a sudden you starting bring in your beliefs and what not... confusing as hell
@DLcKxFTR Yeah...If its just about the "quote" then maybe the bottom-line is that the guy who wrote the song made a mistake in the first place by including those couple of lines in the song and opened a can of worms by doing so without realising what he was doing - I mean he sounds angry with the profanities that he uses in the lyrics to express his point and he's explained himself since saying that really he DOES like and respect Elvis and has misgivings about the way he said what he said.
@DLcKxFTR Furthermore...If its just about the "quote" then I dont truly see the relevance of it on this subject when the guy that originated it, he himself, is eating his own words...Which further proves that this "quote" isnt really that "famous" at all like you say, but rather more accurately - INFAMOUS. It is very important to know the DIFFERENCE because that is where & when the confusion and misunderstandings occur on this subject matter.
@DLcKxFTR Now...thats not a very nice statement to make!...I thought you said it was just about the famous "quote"...and not about personal opinions and beliefs...you are contradicting yourself!!
@bronson1921 lol, i just wanted to see what your response would be lol, i was some what correct. but i thought you were going to have a long ass comment lol :)
@bronson1921 lol something like that. obviously you are a fan of elvis which is why you take time out of your day to reply to these comments. so i was thinking if i was to say something like "fuck elvis" which basically goes against everything i was saying, i was wondering how you would reply and if it would be a long comment saying how you were right and yadayada. lol i guess i was was kind of right. but you kept your cool. nice
@DLcKxFTR Admit it . You were causing trouble.........and yes people are willing to defend Elvis. If you bother to listen audio Elvis interviews the man always paid his dues to the origins of rock n roll. Being accused of being racist (WHEN YOU ARE NOT ) is a disgusting thing. If you think Elvis was crap or dislike his music fair enough, but denying him a place for modern music is like saying Bruce Lee did nothing for Kung Fu.
@kingofpunk1977 lol where did all that come from? i never said he was rascist, nor did i say anything about him being crap or that he never did anythong for rock n roll. where the fuck did you get that from?
@DLcKxFTR Well...all I can say on that is that in view of the context in which you made that statement which you say was to "test me"...your statement also happens to be in a similar context and vein to the "famous quote" that you originally posted and appear to be are a big fan of but seem to have trouble admitting it...How do you account for that?...Is there any element of truth to what I say?...or are you simply going to respond by saying..."Where did all that come from?"
@bronson1921 not at all everything you are saying is that im insinuating that i dislike him and that i believe in the quote therefore you are trying to read between the lines of something that is not even there. it may seem like i believe it if you choose to take it that way but as i said before i already told you how i feel about the situation and how i never directly claimed elvis to be a rascist OR claim his music was bad. if you continue to see it in that way, then this was a waste of time
@DLcKxFTR Right...you dont dislike him - you dont believe in the "quote" - you never claimed his music to be bad - you never directly claimed Elvis to be racist but indirectly you claim he was by posting the INFAMOUS "quote"which you hold dear becuz its from your favourite song..So the guy that originated this "quote" - what was the motive behind him writing those derogatory couple of lines on Elvis? why didnt he write a couple of lines on John Wayne aswell instead of just cursing him in name?
does it really matter wheather he was a racist or that man is long gone.its as irellevant as this nionsense about the presedents birth certificate. ifall of this crap really amounted to anything then it should be talked about. but all it really is a bunch of idiots wanting something to talk about. you should be concerned with getting a life
Elvis stole nothing, had countless black friends including Ali, James Brown, Fats Domino, Jackie Wilson, BB King, countless others. Anyone who knows/knew him at all knows the last thing on Earth he was was a racist. The rest are ignorant racist jackasses themselves. End of subject.
@AgrivatedKillah Well, at least James Brown apparently held him in high-esteem when he said: "He (Elvis) taught White America to get down."...In essence, JB's opinion and perspective on Elvis holds more water than any Joe Public's regardless of his color.
Elvis is the representation of white discrimination against anything was not white. If he was not racist, the white population was because Elvis had a black voice. Let's face it. Please disagree with my opinion because I like sweet lies...
@avalonxxlt Did he "steal" "Blue Moon of Kentucky" from a black musician? How about "How Great Thou Art (He won a Grammy for that one)?"...Maybe it was his rendition of "Make the World Go Away???". The "racist" allegation misses the point that Elvis endures to this day because his wonderful voice could, and did, cover several different styles of music.
Until rumors like this one die people will continue to believe the rumors about other famous singers, like the Michael Jackson is a child molestor allegations. Remember, he was never found not guilty of the 1993 allegations.
@avalonxxlt Bullsh*t! If they wanted to sue ELVIS they could sue his estate and bankrupt him now. It hasn't happened yet. Maybe, you're a Michael Jackson fan that hopes the "ELVIS is racist" strategy works so that your idol will look better in light of the child molestation allegations. Remember, Jackson was never found not guilty of the 1993 allegations. There is also the rumor that Jackson is anti-Semitic. Would that make Jackson a child molesting racist?
@avalonxxlt back then a lot of artists recorded other people's music. It wasn't to steal it it was because they thought they might be able to add to it.
"...and then here in Memphis the rumour got out that I didn't like colored people and God knows I never said that I didn't like anybody - It's just that rumours like that get started and there is nothing I can do about it. I dont want anybody thinking I said things like that when I never even thought about it. I got a lucky break in life and I am thankful for it but there are few people who want to take shots at me."
ELVIS PRESLEY..1957...commenting on the infamous, misattributed quote.
this is lame...go to sun studio and look at the pictures on the wall....elvis wasnt racist...the local musicians loved him....i agree with the last guy...let the king rest...WTF?
The next day, whatever it was, was gone. That all came from one of the BLACK singers mouth on this dvd I watched about him. Whenever Elvis was younger he would sneek away from his white church and go over to the black church to watch them sing. His style and music was influenced by black people. He once bought black lady a car when she couldn't afford one. There are so many things that prove he's not racist. You can even go to snopes.com and it will tell you that the accusations are false.
Elvis was going to do a concert one time (I forgot where it was at. I think it might have been in Texas.) and they were racist and they didn't want his black background singers singing with him. He pretty much told them that if they can't sing with him then he won't sing. Also, one of his black background singers talked about how a doctor thought one of the girls might have had a tumor or something in their stomach. He prayed with her and asked God to get rid of whatever it was.
some of elvis' closest friends were sammy davis jr, mohammed ali, the sweet inspirations, chuck berry, and other blues mucisians at the time. elvis is so perfect that the media/haters make up rumours that they can't even back up when challenged against.
I dont think elvis said any of that, I just think that because he had respect for blacks perhaps the racist ones might have made up that remark to try and bring him down.
" I NEVER said anything like that, and people who KNOW me know that I wouldnt have said it ; who am I to say I dont like anybody because God created everybody equal. "......ELVIS PRESLEY........speaking and denying the rumour to reporter, Louie Robinson for black magazine, JET on the set of Jailhouse Rock in August,1957.
He couldnt hate blacks that much he did like our style of music,if i hated someone that bad i would want nothing to do with them, love from sierra leone
Sure, it's unfair that Elvis earned more money and fame singing in a style that black people created and developed, and that his fame and money came partly because he was white. However, Elvis didn't create that situation.
It would be better to learn, listen to, and remember those artists that were denied privilege because of their skin color, rather than labeling Elvis a racist or a thief.
@avalonxxlt He never took credit for writing "My Babe" that I know of.... Please enlighten me... Then again, why do I even care what you think, you most likely will make up half of what you tell me anyway. Jeez, stealing music from black people. That argument is so overdrawn and lame...
@avalonxxlt elvis didnt sing that song till 1969 you dimwit. ricky nelson sang it in 1957. elvis never stole anyones music. he pretty promoted other black singers and writers. listen to his lousianna hayride concerts and how he introduces long tall sally and tutti fruiti amoung others i challange you to come back and call him a racist. he boosted tehre sales by mention little richard or chuck berry he loved them guys.
@MrImsokewl And society doesnt like you. thats why your a loner(looney) mad at the world. And casey anthony shes going to fucking fry but before she does the prison girls are going to rape her like the whore she is. ill leave you alone now but ill be back on verdict day to remind you how there going to rip her apart in prison, you wont have to worry about them frying her, she wont make it, there going to rape her and not the good rape. bye bye.
R&B singer Carol Fran and EP were acquainted from the early days. Ran into one another at a deli in LA & El said hi & sat at a table, while she jokingly said, "I'm not talking to you, cuz I'm mad!" He came over, sat down & asked why. She said her "Peace in The Valley" 45 did ok, but then his version swamped it. He said he was sorry, he was unaware, had no control. He wrote a check & handed it to her. She folded it & put it in her purse & forgot about it. Months later she found it: 10,000.
I will recommend the interview with Cissy Houston about her time with The Sweet Inspirations and Elvis.
She said he treated everybody equal, black or white didn`t matter for him.
And she loved him because he respected them so much.
And at one occation Elvis heard that one hotel would not accept The Sweet Inspirations because they were black. Elvis called and said; "no Sweets - no Elvis". Then they changed their mind and let them stay.
@JohnnyGGN yeah he had teh same thing happen in houston astrodome he pretty much told them officials there to go bleep themselves. because they were affraid of the bad press if elvis refused to go there they caved in lol. elvis was the man. his maids and everyone loved him. his one cook thought of him as her son . so whoever says he is racist is one dumb jealous sob. and they will meet there maker one day for wrongfully judging someone they dont even know
You ALL are complete ignorant idiots if you honestly believe Elvis Aaron Presley, a man born in the ghetto of Tupelo Mississippi and went to black gospel churches all throughout his childhood and ended up becoming great friends with James Brown and countless other black artists...after all that and you are still stuck in your ways...you are just a worthless piece of shit. Elvis Presley is one of the most amazing people this world has ever seen, white or black, doesn't matter
@mdz255 THANK YOU!!! I can't even begin to tell you how nice it is to know that at least there are SOME people still out there who actually LOOK into the ACTUAL facts, NOT all the myths that people love to believe whether they are true or false. You are a good person! I wish you the best my friend! Take care! By the way you have good taste in music! Elvis' music and legacy will ALWAYS live on and it will NEVER die
@avalonxxlt Elvis never took credit and only wrote one or two songs. He never claimed to be a songwriter. He adapted songs to his style. Elvis opened the radiowaves for black musicians. Ask Little Richard or Chuck Berry.....they even said so.
@mrpitv people are always trying to make elvis into something bad and why i dont know. the man had his flaws he is human but there was no way that he was racist. the man basically told the officials in houston back in 1970 because they told him to leave the sweet inspirations home cuz they were black and elvis told them if they cant come he woult go there either and elvis got his way and had the best concerts ever there at the astrodome
@meanmachine210 Actually, Elvis kissed the beautiful Mexican actress Elsa Cardenas several times in his movie Fun In Acapulco and the stunning Mexican actress Delores Del Rio who was known as the "First Lady of the Mexican Cinema" came out of retirement to play Elvis's Indian mother in the movie Flaming Star ......I think this in itself blatantly contradicts this urban legend which I believe also originated form a tabloid in the Fifties aswell, but in Mexico.
@meanmachine210: It's not true. He actually kissed Mexican women in Flaming Star, Fun In Acapulco and Stay Away Joe. He also kissed women at his Las Vegas concerts. Do you think he looked first if they were Mexican? No way.
@meanmachine210 Check elvises jumpsuits,1 ofem called the SUNDIAL suit, designed with an old mexican sun symbol...he also had other suits called the indian suit, agyptian suit(africa),tiger and a dragon suit(asian)!
and to all my black brothers and sisters:elvis had black backround singers called the sweet insperations.tom jones was good friends with him,so was mohammed ali and sam davis just 2 name a few!
@meanmachine210 thats just a rumor and a lie,i heard something like that....what i heard was that he said one time that he would rather kiss two black women instead of a one Mexican girl............i would have said the same,i rather kiss two women than one...all those rumors come from haters who dont want to accept that elvis is still bigger than eminem, jlo, the rolling stones, justin beiber, and all those fake singers combined
@avalonxxlt To this very day, Black Cats, such as Chuck Berry, Little Richard and Fats Domino are happily counting the Dollars in royalties that Elvis "Earnt" for them by recording songs such as "Too Much Monkey Business" Rip It Up" and "Blueberry Hill". So, please, no more of this "Elvis stole" crap. By the way, Elvis made a generous contribution to Jackie Wilson`s hospital costs when JW fell ill.
to argue that elvis stole music is to argue that any musician stole music. The key to originality is the capacity to hide your sources. Everyone "steals" from everyone it is called "influences" from the readings that I have seen, he is completely not a racist.
@MrWaynejohn ....you dont love me..how can you when you're clearly cheating on me!? (whimpering)....I know your cock is tiny and all but i never complained...THATS IT dude, you're not hitting this ass for a month!
@MrWaynejohn .....HAHAHA put a ring on it huh? yeah a penis ring!...well you bring out the best in little old me Big DaDDy waynejohn (batting eyelashes). Oh my mothers doing just fine, thank you for asking! But you need to focus on what WE have! Got that mister!?????
OTIS BLACKWELL SAID THAT HIS DEAL WITH ELVIS WAS SO FANTASTIC THAT HE WAS AFRAID IF HE MET ELVIS IN PERSON HE MIGHT JINX IT. Many black artists got paid lots of money when Elvis sang their songs...they got credit and they got fame. Otis never met Presley because he was afraid to jinx the arrangement he had with Elvis. Of course most people only see blacks as victims but b/c Elvis sang music that many saw as "devil's music" and refused to play it on white radio stations...E helped black artists
@avalonxxlt FIRST EP was a dirt poor Hillbilly who just wanted to sing & didn’t know jack shit about business. E knew Col P was a worldly businessman & he handled the business side. These shady things were happening all the time in the music business...there was hardly even a bench mark set. Did people get taken advantage of? I'm sure a lot of people did. Many people were WORSE THAT THE COL TRUST ME. To single E out..makes you racist..I'm POSITIVE. & many artists were VERY HAPPY with their deal.
The only people who believed Elvis stole black music were ignorant racist black people & it's the same thing today! In the 50s & 60s almost all black artists loved & respected Elvis & never saw singing music of people with a different skin color as stealing. Many black artists sang songs written by white men!!!!! Intelligent blacks never saw it as stealing. That is so ignorant. Some blacks were racists & believed in SEGREGATED music. They were IGNORANT RACISTS just like the WHITE IGNORANT RACISTS
@waianapagirlThe extent of Elvis' appeal & popularity with black audiences, which has never been given proper credit & recognition, particularly for the period from the 50s right through upto near the mid 60s, can be illustrated by the Billboard black music R & B chart statistics; in 1957 Elvis had 3 No. Ones ; he was the 2nd most successful chart act after Fats Domino during the 50s decade & he is the most successful white chart act ever in the history of the R & B charts even to this day.
@waianapagirl Just by looking at his chart statistics on the R & B music charts an intelligent person, irrespective of color, can see the postive IMPACT Elvis had on Black music let alone other genres-He was the first artist ever to hit No. One in all 3 charts Country, Pop and R&B with the same record & he did it 3 TIMES!! Many intelligent blacks, the likes of James Brown and Rufas Thomas have cited Elvis' POSITIVE IMPACT ON BLACK MUSIC, how he opened many Doors & how he LEGITIMIZED it.
Actually that is incorrect and you should read up on American History. Whites would literally steal the songs of black artist, without permission. It was not like today, where you go to the estate of an artist and get permission to sing the song and reproduce their songs. Record companies would actually recruit black artist and then dupe them into signing over their songs, and turn the songs over to a white artist.
I have no problem with whites, but lets tell the truth here.

I don't think it's theft it's how culture is passed on.
mrpitv 4 months ago 3
@mrpitv The fact is he was the white face on black music he admits it and so does every music person in that industry at the time and right now. Know black person was able to sale or become famous do to racism so they needed a white entertainer to market black person. Also Elvis didn't write any of his songs nearly all were from black musicians and those artists never got credit ie Money. Typical revisionism by Elvis worshippers.
12Aggiefan 4 months ago
@12Aggiefan "nearly all his songs were from black musicians?" Wrong, wrong, wrong. Was Carl Perkins black? Mae Axton? Leiber/Stoller? Doc Pomus? Mark James? Mac Davis? Dennis Linde? Tony Joe White? Baker Knight? Get your facts straight before spreading these lies. If you had asked James Brown, Little Richard, B.B. King, Fats Domino, Sammy Davis, Jr, Ike Turner, they would all tell you Elvis was one of the greats. I'll take their opinions over yours.
ronfowlermusic 1 week ago
@12Aggiefan Yes Elvis music and style of performance was definitely of a black style. But what his so called theft diid was expose black music and style to the world which I believe in turn made the world curious about black music and its artists. So If it was not for Elvis, perhaps all of our black artists would not be as popular as they are today. Do you agree ?
09201951ful 3 months ago

The thief comes only to steal, kill & destroy - but Elvis dared to do in the light of day what White America had been doing in the sneak-thief anonymity of night - he consorted on a human level with blacks - thats the BIG picture.
bronson1921 3 months ago 2
@12Aggiefan That's another lie told about Elvis Presley. The video called ELVIS PRESLEY - BLACK MUSIC INFLUENCE, proves that Elvis never stole NOTHING from black people. His had his own style. Name 1 black artist who sounded like Elvis ??? In the video I Just named you will find that all the black FOUNDERS of Rock n Roll give Elvis credit. And Chuck Berry calls Elvis the greatest. I've given you my references, can you please give me yours ???

8312356364 6 months ago

@kingofpunk1977 did i ever say chuck D didnt like elvis? no... i was just using a quote from a song... so calm the fuck down lol
DLcKxFTR 8 months ago
@DLcKxFTR This "quote" from Chuck D's "anthem" apparently has been retracted by Chuck D...The Chuck D of today is not the same angry Chuck D of 1989 as far as his perspective & understanding on Elvis goes -which makes this "quote" out of date and even obsolete.Chuck D has explained that he was "attacking" essentially the iconic image of Elvis - NOT the man and he has found that there is no truth in this urban myth/legend.The truth YOU choose to believe makes it your just OWN personal reality.
bronson1921 8 months ago
@bronson1921 did i say i believe in it? better yet, did i even say that it was the truth? you are putting words in my mouth. all i did was post a quote fom a song, nothing more. not once did i mention chuck D, or say that it was the truth. you are just making assumptions and in turn, making yourself look like an ass....
DLcKxFTR 8 months ago
@DLcKxFTR Ooooohhhh who needs to calm down now eh? You wanted to quote the quote to reinforce the Elvis "racist" myth or probably stir up a debate for which you have otherwise why say the quote?
kingofpunk1977 8 months ago

DLcKxFTR 8 months ago
@DLcKxFTR Is this "quote" really that famous?...or do you really mean infamous?...There's a difference between the two which can make all the difference to this subject matter, which I'm sure your intelligence will tell you?

DLcKxFTR 8 months ago
@DLcKxFTR I, too like the song "fight the power"...its a classic rap song.. but it doesnt mean one has to agree and identify with the entire message in the song. lol
bronson1921 8 months ago
@bronson1921 you still not getting me.. not once did i say that i agree OR that i identify with the song. you are just making assumptions.. god, how thick is your head lol i repeated this statement atleast 5 times already -_-
DLcKxFTR 8 months ago
@DLcKxFTR I'm talking about myself...not you. lol
bronson1921 8 months ago
@bronson1921 but that's what im saying. we were never talking about personal opinions or beliefs. it just about a the quote. then all of a sudden you starting bring in your beliefs and what not... confusing as hell
DLcKxFTR 8 months ago
@DLcKxFTR Yeah...If its just about the "quote" then maybe the bottom-line is that the guy who wrote the song made a mistake in the first place by including those couple of lines in the song and opened a can of worms by doing so without realising what he was doing - I mean he sounds angry with the profanities that he uses in the lyrics to express his point and he's explained himself since saying that really he DOES like and respect Elvis and has misgivings about the way he said what he said.
bronson1921 8 months ago
@DLcKxFTR Furthermore...If its just about the "quote" then I dont truly see the relevance of it on this subject when the guy that originated it, he himself, is eating his own words...Which further proves that this "quote" isnt really that "famous" at all like you say, but rather more accurately - INFAMOUS. It is very important to know the DIFFERENCE because that is where & when the confusion and misunderstandings occur on this subject matter.
bronson1921 8 months ago
@bronson1921 fuck elvis
DLcKxFTR 8 months ago
@DLcKxFTR Now...thats not a very nice statement to make!...I thought you said it was just about the famous "quote"...and not about personal opinions and beliefs...you are contradicting yourself!!
bronson1921 8 months ago
@bronson1921 lol, i just wanted to see what your response would be lol, i was some what correct. but i thought you were going to have a long ass comment lol :)
DLcKxFTR 8 months ago
@DLcKxFTR Oh, really? so...you were testing me?...Did I pass or fail your test?..What was the underlying motive & purpose of this test?
bronson1921 8 months ago
@bronson1921 lol something like that. obviously you are a fan of elvis which is why you take time out of your day to reply to these comments. so i was thinking if i was to say something like "fuck elvis" which basically goes against everything i was saying, i was wondering how you would reply and if it would be a long comment saying how you were right and yadayada. lol i guess i was was kind of right. but you kept your cool. nice
DLcKxFTR 8 months ago
@DLcKxFTR Admit it . You were causing trouble.........and yes people are willing to defend Elvis. If you bother to listen audio Elvis interviews the man always paid his dues to the origins of rock n roll. Being accused of being racist (WHEN YOU ARE NOT ) is a disgusting thing. If you think Elvis was crap or dislike his music fair enough, but denying him a place for modern music is like saying Bruce Lee did nothing for Kung Fu.
kingofpunk1977 8 months ago
@kingofpunk1977 lol where did all that come from? i never said he was rascist, nor did i say anything about him being crap or that he never did anythong for rock n roll. where the fuck did you get that from?
DLcKxFTR 8 months ago
@DLcKxFTR Well...all I can say on that is that in view of the context in which you made that statement which you say was to "test me"...your statement also happens to be in a similar context and vein to the "famous quote" that you originally posted and appear to be are a big fan of but seem to have trouble admitting it...How do you account for that?...Is there any element of truth to what I say?...or are you simply going to respond by saying..."Where did all that come from?"
bronson1921 8 months ago
@bronson1921 not at all everything you are saying is that im insinuating that i dislike him and that i believe in the quote therefore you are trying to read between the lines of something that is not even there. it may seem like i believe it if you choose to take it that way but as i said before i already told you how i feel about the situation and how i never directly claimed elvis to be a rascist OR claim his music was bad. if you continue to see it in that way, then this was a waste of time
DLcKxFTR 8 months ago
@DLcKxFTR Right...you dont dislike him - you dont believe in the "quote" - you never claimed his music to be bad - you never directly claimed Elvis to be racist but indirectly you claim he was by posting the INFAMOUS "quote"which you hold dear becuz its from your favourite song..So the guy that originated this "quote" - what was the motive behind him writing those derogatory couple of lines on Elvis? why didnt he write a couple of lines on John Wayne aswell instead of just cursing him in name?
bronson1921 8 months ago
@bronson1921 there you go again with your assumptions. i never said it was my fav. song lol :P silly...

Remember, Jackson was never found not guilty of the 1993 allegations. There is also the rumor that Jackson is anti-Semitic. Would that make Jackson a child molesting racist?

The next day, whatever it was, was gone. That all came from one of the BLACK singers mouth on this dvd I watched about him. Whenever Elvis was younger he would sneek away from his white church and go over to the black church to watch them sing. His style and music was influenced by black people. He once bought black lady a car when she couldn't afford one. There are so many things that prove he's not racist. You can even go to snopes.com and it will tell you that the accusations are false.
KaylaS999 1 year ago
Elvis was going to do a concert one time (I forgot where it was at. I think it might have been in Texas.) and they were racist and they didn't want his black background singers singing with him. He pretty much told them that if they can't sing with him then he won't sing. Also, one of his black background singers talked about how a doctor thought one of the girls might have had a tumor or something in their stomach. He prayed with her and asked God to get rid of whatever it was.

@meanmachine210 Actually, Elvis kissed the beautiful Mexican actress Elsa Cardenas several times in his movie Fun In Acapulco and the stunning Mexican actress Delores Del Rio who was known as the "First Lady of the Mexican Cinema" came out of retirement to play Elvis's Indian mother in the movie Flaming Star ......I think this in itself blatantly contradicts this urban legend which I believe also originated form a tabloid in the Fifties aswell, but in Mexico.
bronson1921 1 year ago
@meanmachine210 Not true. Elvis kissed alot of women and didnt ask them if they were Mexican.
SouthernBelleSmiles 1 year ago
Well it depends on what mexican we are talking about>
I dont think he would have rejected a kiss from the new Miss Universe that is mexican.
MAGICO240 1 year ago
@meanmachine210 yes he did say that im mexican aswell but remember it was a different era back then it wasnt his fault i guess
redgoat1111111 1 year ago
@meanmachine210: It's not true. He actually kissed Mexican women in Flaming Star, Fun In Acapulco and Stay Away Joe. He also kissed women at his Las Vegas concerts. Do you think he looked first if they were Mexican? No way.

mrgreen90124 9 months ago
@meanmachine210 thats just a rumor and a lie,i heard something like that....what i heard was that he said one time that he would rather kiss two black women instead of a one Mexican girl............i would have said the same,i rather kiss two women than one...all those rumors come from haters who dont want to accept that elvis is still bigger than eminem, jlo, the rolling stones, justin beiber, and all those fake singers combined

James Brown: "I was not only fan, I was his brother."
Sammy Davis jr.:"Was I his friend? Did I enjoy him as a performer? Did he bring this world entertainment? Yes!!!"
Chuck Berry: "They named Elvis right when they called him King."
Jackie Wilson:"A lot of people have accused Elvis of stealing black music, when in fact, almost every black entertainer copied from Elvis."

@waianapagirl: Elvis was definitely a swell guy...........too bad he died in 1977, though. What a tragic shame. =(

@waianapagirl I feel Alen Freed Helped blacks more than Elvis.Along with the singers from the UK.

& many artists were VERY HAPPY with their deal.
waianapagirl 1 year ago

Ones ; he was the 2nd most successful chart act after Fats Domino during the 50s decade & he is the most successful white chart act ever in the history of the R & B charts even to this day.
bronson1921 1 year ago
@waianapagirl Just by looking at his chart statistics on the R & B music charts an intelligent person, irrespective of color, can see the postive IMPACT Elvis had on Black music let alone other genres-He was the first artist ever to hit No. One in all 3 charts Country, Pop and R&B with the same record & he did it 3 TIMES!! Many intelligent blacks, the likes of James Brown and Rufas Thomas have cited Elvis' POSITIVE IMPACT ON BLACK MUSIC, how he opened many Doors & how he LEGITIMIZED it.
bronson1921 1 year ago
@bronson1921 By Legitimizing it , he also Popularized it and did far more for the resurgence of rhythm and blues than anyone else had ever done .
bronson1921 1 year ago
@waianapagirl
