@BigBlocks4BigBoys Thats hilarious comming from a Country who depends upon America for thier saftey & security. You're military is a skeleton crew & is a joke. All your weapons are built by us also. BTW, thanks for the help in Viet Nam!
@falcondriver100 we do not depend on you for saftey and security... no one wants to attack us like they do you. we don't police the world and put up puppet governments all over the place. we don't fuck other nations over.... we will see how high and mighty you are when your economy is being ass fucked by china all over the place. Oh wait... China already owns you, probably a big reason our money is worth more than yours to.
@PONTIACGRANDPRIX LMAO!! You're niavety is hilarious. If not for us, you wouldn't be called "canada" right now. If we fall, you go down right along with is dumbass. Think before you flap them gums! Don't worrry though, we'll take care of things!!
Yea your sure taking care of things..... Our economy is much stronger at the moment, not as large, but stronger. Take a look at our dollar, our employment rates, our literacy rates, our educational standards. Im sorry but you are the ignorant one here. P.S. we got the name "Canada" from a native word for home, it has nothing to do with America. You are falling and we are only getting stronger... sorry but your wrong.
@PONTIACGRANDPRIX You keep thinking that. Do you manufacture cars(besides ours), jets, trains, tanks, fighters, trucks?? You make movies, sit coms, TV shows, computers? Invent the internet? How about a space program? What DO you do but live off others, exactly?
LOL! I didn't mean we named you dumbass. I meant that if not for us, some other Country would have overtaken you & renamed you by now genius. We provide your security. If you say otherwise you're either 1)Ignorant or 2)disengenuous.
Yes we do... the company is called Bombardier you fucking tool, they are the fourth largest airplane manufacturer in the world. We also are one of the largest contributors to the international space program.... have you never seen the Canadarm?? As far as car manufacturing, Honda and Toyota GM and Ford. Trucks: Kenworth and Hino. TV: CanadianBrodcastingCorp, have you ever seen the show shark tank... thats a remake of a Canadian show called dragons den.
As a matter of fact we are the largest supplier of crude oil and petrolium to the U.S. Where do you get this idea that someone wants to attack us... no one does be cause we aren't dick heads like you, trying to police the world and push our ideas on everyone. Just because you are beside us doesn't mean we rely on you. The question you should be asking yourself is what does the U.S. Do for the rest of the world???
@falcondriver100 You are a typical American, when your empire falls to the dust because you can't keep yourselves out of debt, and your shitty attitudes towards all other countrys, you will be nothing but a memory, just like the roman empire... History always repeats itself, get ready pal.
@PONTIACGRANDPRIX LMAO!! Thats some grand shit comming from a typically arrogant Canadian who chants "Built with pride in Canada"(By an AMERICAN COMPANY btw); "Fuck America, Fight your own wars"......Yada yada yada. You Canadians have the shittiest attitudes of anyone on the internet. All you assholes DO is badmouth America. Jealousy must really suck huh?? LOL!
Hey, keep hoping we fall b/c if we do, you'll be living under sharia law. Get ready pal!
@falcondriver100 I do not have a shitty attitude I am simply stating facts, Your country is owned by China, that is a huge factor as to why you will not get out of debt. Your country wastes money like mad... I don't hope that the U.S. will fail but if it continues on this path it will. Why would I be jealous of you??? again you are a perfect example of American ignorance at its finest.
It's not American ignorance, it's American Culture!! LOL. In America, they speak as if what is unreal is real. They also protest in anger against things that often times have rational reason behind it. You may find often times it is non-sense.
@falcondriver100 And what car did your fine automotive engineers come up with lately? You guys live off the American tit. You look to the US for everything including your protection. I have yet to hear of a Canadian invention?
@MrDriDriZzy GM is Canadian? GM built plants there, that does not make them Canadian. Canada is a big tit sucker of the US. They use us for security and contribute nothing towards the world security. Cowards> What has Canada actually done on their own? Any great inventions? A big wart on top of a great country. Without the US it would be conquered by almost anyone who would want it . ( If sombody wanted it). But you guys did come in handy for the US cowards in the 60's to hideout.
Ahhh, the Alpha Platform. The reincarnation of the 1970's Holden Torana! A RWD racing car also sold as a family mid size sedan or hatchback! A world beater in the 1972 LJ Torana XU-1 setup, and a mighty family muscle car in the 1974 LH SL/R5000 powered by the L34 engine.
Bring it on! Bring that spirit back to the smaller sized car!
@Siegetower The chassis is being made from scratch in the US, it will have nothing to do with that generic Aussie shit, the greatest muscle cars in history were pure American with no Aussie interference.
@Greendude33 Mate I thought we could get along. Why the hostility. By the way the Alpha Platform was first premiered in 2004 in the TT36 Torana concept project, designed, engineered and built in Australia by Holden.
Yes, I would love a 1968-1970 Pontiac GTO or similar era Camero, Trans Am etc. But those were built 40 years ago...the Muscle Cars of today seem to all start, right here in Victoria, Australia (G8, Camero, Zeta and Alpha platform). Google HSV GTS or Walkinshaw 427 or Ford Falcon GT
@Siegetower Um no the Camaro is getting the Alpha redesign, b/c its rival the Mustang is eating its lunch right now thanks to that shitty Zeta platform. The Alpha was just a concept in 04 but after the success of the CTS line GM is now introducing a smaller Caddy the ATS of which will pass its platform to the Camaro. The Alpha is being made and designed in the US. The Aussies no offense killed Pontiac and insulted the legendary GTO so I'm glad GM is dumping the Zeta.
@Greendude33 I think it was the GFC that killed Pontiac. Just because GM USA didn't design their own Pontiac, just re-badged Australia's top selling car and added a different grille, then introduced it right before the mortgage meltdown and take-over of GM by the US government who have an agenda of transport that has no place for realistic and enjoyable V8 cars, through financial necessity GM eventually cost cut the Pontiac brand out of existance...don't blame Australia. We just like driving V8s
@Greendude33 And what is shitty about the Zeta platform. Do you have an engineering perspective to explain that. Do you realise how easy it is to modify Commodores/G8s with all sorts of superchargers, blowers etc that motoring and performance enthusiasts crave. I'm getting the vibe from youtube that the Camero is likewise just as easy and effortless to customise. Is any advantage Mustangs have through Ford transmissions? Highway Patrol guys here love their Fords over GM for that reason only.
Back in the days the Camaro was made in America then later on and now is built in Canada, so what well GM needs to make another factory in America so actually make the Camaro in Jersey or for the best part Tennesee the GM Chootanoga assembly plant if they don't well I rahter stick with the Mustang. If Ford thinks of saving the St.Thomas, Ontario assembly plant then if they make the Mustang their then their will be fools of making the Mustang in Canada !
Well said: American built! American car engineering/technology is WAY behind ... and when it's about cars America is a 3rd world country ... after visiting european plants it's disgousting when you enter and visit an american plant. Knowing the american taste I guess it's impossible to reach those standards.
To sleep well you can watch this:.youtube.com/watch?v=SgsDXBSEMf8&feature=related
Damn! It had to be this NASCAR prick the owner of the first one!? No wonder I hate him and his protegé boy toy Jeff Gordon so much. They want the #1 spot at everything without deserving it.
@mozaks80 Guess what America's economy is so powerful that when it stuggles every other nation on the planet stuggles. So if you want America to fall you better be prepared to fall yourself.
BTW we have such a massive lead economically that we still reamain the number one economy on the planet.
american have it so damn made it's not even funny. yet you guys still bitch and moan about your economy, you guys are practically giving away houses at next to nothing inerest rates and still nobody buys. yet in canada we pay what would be top of the line dollar in the US for average and we don't complain. it's fucking sad, quit bitching about the camaro being built in canada. you guys take our oil and gas we'll take your cars! bahaha!
@mansfieldcanada Take our Cars? LMAO The best American cars are still made in America I/e Corvette and Caddilac. The Camaro was long ruined once it took that shiity Aussie chassis. Compared to American factory workers you're a sweatshop, we use other countries b/c we are America. There's no way in hell the Bowling Green workers would work for as little as 22 an hour.
Canada is a GM outsource and the whole point of outsourcing is b/c it's cheaper.
@Greendude33 if that's the case then why wouldn't they just build a factory in mexico retard? then it'd be even cheaper! and i know for a fact they made 72 an hr because it was all over the news day in and day out at the start of the recession how gm was just a shitstorm because workers were making so much to making very little i know they cut the pay but it sure as hell wasn't 22 an hr. GM in canada was the highest paying job you can have without an education.
Thank god GM finally has some engineers running the company. I own 61% of their company and I am ready to see some products that make Japan's Honda and Toyota look like absolute fools. Americans have a choice of what vehicle they purchase, but all of us need to pull for Chevy. We own this company and need to show the world that we are not dependent on them for our needs. Japan bends over backwards and helps out their car industry, why shouldn't we ?
@damagecase13 i mean is that they already had a lot of camaros sitting outside of the plant so how can you tell that that particular camaro is the fist one made
@Frankyjoe9876 There wasn't a lot of camaros outside, there was a few but only built for training purposes. They do a bunch of runs through the line with the workers on each shift, but those ones usually aren't sold. And to tell its the first one for sale, it has a Vin plate underneath the windshield with the number on it.
Green dude! If americans would have been loyal over the past 5 years or so instead of letting Toyota and Honda take over our market share we would have not been in this mess in the first place! We have became a consuming country instead of a producing country! Its sad! And I agree its bs they lied the way they did to try and make them selves look better! People buying HONDA AND TOYOTA will be the final outsource to our economy! I promise
@T77406 No, For example the Bowling Green Kentucky Facility (Corvette) has not only been GM's highest Quality factory but one of the best in North America and the world.
The ONLY REASON the Camaro and other American cars are made in Canada is b/c theu can avoid those damn labor unions, not to mention Canadian workers work for less per hour than Americans. It's a cost saving measure only.
@Greendude33 actually we make more than the americans. the average hourly wage for a gm worker in canada at the brampton, ontario plant (where the build the trucks) was 72 dollars an hour....it's not cheaper. but we have to pay way more for certain things. prime example. the camaro. look at gmcanada and build and price one. then price one on the US chevy site i rest my case.. and housing. what's 140 grand down in the US is 300 grand here.
@mansfieldcanada The plant in michigan that orginally was slated to make the Camaro would have had to pay over double the wages Canadian workers get.
72 dollars an hour haha BULLSHIT I know for a fact that the avg wage for that particular factory is 22 USD and hour compared to the avg in Michigan of 45 dollars an hour. GM is in Canda b/c it is cheap and in Canada we don't have to pay for health benefits for the workers.
Why would GM leave the states b/c its more expensive?
GM is a joke, they'll lie straight to your face on television thru thier own CEO! They didn't repay their loan 5 years early, all they did was take other money from the TARP fund to pay it. Rob Peter to pay Paul, why do they think we are so stupid. I was a huge Chevy, GM fan all my life till today. I hate them now, never will I buy from such liars again!
@tbonejackone Why are you even commenting if you hate them so much? At least their selling their vehicles! I've never seen so many crappy, piece- of- junk Toyotas on used car lots in my life! Toyota has had more recalls on more models in the past year than any car maker in automotive history! If your going to hate an automaker, then why not hate Toyota? They lied to our faces and cost nearly 100 people their lives and millions of dollars in damage to property!
@jclgw33 Yeah you're right, I hate Toyota too. They lied just as much, but the way GM did it was in a commercial directed right at us, like we were stupid. I expect that from a Jap company but not ours. Toyota has sucked for awhile, they are all hype. Ford is making the most realible cars now, Buick is solid as ever but they are owed by Commi's now, aka, our Government.
How can someone sit there and say that cars are built better now then they were in the 50's and 60's? Like in my previous comment, i was in a head on car wreck with my 1958 plymouth fury, with a 2000 BMW, my car had 4 scratches on the steel bumper, both cars were going 35 miles an hour or so, my car did not even have air bags, and all i had was minor whiplash. The BMW driver was in the hospital for 8 months, his car was so totaled it looked like it was hit by a damn train.
@Greendude33 This car just reached 100,000 units, and it hasn't been through a full year of production, so no, it's not going to help run the economy down. Oshawa is GM's most reliable plant, so there is no reason to not make it there. I'd rather own a car that I felt confident knowing all the bolts were on tight than one that I had to worry about. And Canada, is basically our main trading partner, they buy so much of our crap it's ridiculous!
@Greendude33 It's to the point where honda is more of an american car - as in, the american-sold hondas are made in america, of nearly all american parts, moreso than gm and ford and all that.
@Greendude33 The hell you talking outsourcing? GM was a public global company, and since post bankrupt owned by both US & Canadian governments in bail out money. Come on out of your rock and see how the world really works.
@Sc0rPsX Yes that's outsourcing the Camaro used to be made in Michigan USA but the damn unions and bullshit legislation moved it to Canada. GM can make the Camaro far cheaper in Canada than the US.
Nothing wrong with Canada it just kills the heritage of the name.
@Greendude33 Since the US dollar tanked it is not cheaper to make a Camaro in Canada. Nobody is denying this type of car was an American muscle car icon and many still do... thing is the GM is also Canadian in ownership and global in operations... so you can see why no longer just America. Also the two economies are pretty interconnected, it is also a fact if one goes down it drags the other with it. Shocking I know but faster you realize how the two countries depend on each better the better.
@Sc0rPsX Actually the currency on the decline as of late has been the Euro (thank Greece) where as the dollar has risen at a steady rate after its dip in the recession of 08.
In Canada they don't have the same Unions and legislation as say the State of Michigan and its workers. So what would be a $40 per hour job in the US is a $20 an hour job in canada.
And China is America's number one trade partner not Canada.
@Greendude33 Not talking about the Euro, and yes it is. The US currency has fallen to the Canadian and not doing so great currently. Practically at par. Secondly, Canadian workers are paid MORE than their US counterparts. Of course there is times of more in one or the other but not double. So in this case it may be a little less but nothing to what you think, plus it's already proven worker's wages only equate to about 5% of vehicle cost!
@Sc0rPsX GM saves so much in building in Canada for example they don't have to pay a dime for any healthcare plans for their Canadian workers where in the US GM has to have a healthcare plan for its workers. This alone is miillions of dollars a year.
But as for quality the premier GM factory is the Bowling Green Kentucky facility which is reknowned as not only GM's best factory but one of the best in the world.
@Greendude33 First, only basic healthcare is covered in Canada and that's paid by premiums plus tax! Second, extended benefits DO cost plenty so again... learn a bit before you preach. You sound so ignorant. Second look again on how the US & Canadian economies are locked in and supporting each other and not just in goods. Majority of oil is from Canada as well as resources, power and water! So who do you think needs each other more? Again, do some research...
@heartlessvietboy umm it does matter where its made actually...given the current economic climate it would be a big help if it was Americans working and making those cars instead of Canadians.
It matters where it matters, not what doesn't saying as if it matters. You brought forth a good question that I interpret in another meaning. It often times isn't bad to be clear about our writing. When I said it doesn't matter where the vehicle came from, it really doesn't matter unless it matters.
@AirRaider56 3 chair man and stake and stock holder are cnadian owning 64 % of GM company A french stake holder holds anoth 16 % the rest is americain investment companies and investers owning sorry and that includes canada pention fund and teachers pension fund of cnada owning way fro then any other USA goverment ownership of it sorry
@Greendude33 And you know the platform of the Camaro was mostly designed in Australia, sharing its' design platform with the Holden Commodore, known in America as the Pontiac G8.
@Siegetower Yes, and it's not that good far too heavy and cumbersome. GM is designing an all new platform which will be much lighter and refined (alpha platform) which will be shared with the upcoming 3 Series fighting Cadillac ATS and the two will share the same factory as well which according to GM will be in Michigan or Indiana. Not only that but just before that debuts the C7 Vette which also means an all new line of LS engines and the new dual clutch tranny from the C7 as well.
@Greendude33 "What happened to the days of it being made in Michigan?" From a foreigners perspective it looks like your trade unions have priced the American worker out of a job. Enforcing retirement benefits that were drawn up on the 1950's before Japanese brands took your market share and made it less economically viable to make all cars for the US market actually in the US. They probably can't afford to make them in Michigan.
Dont be a fanboy, Challengers dont have to be your favorite, but if you like a Camaro, you cant HATE a challenger..same type of car, with similar attributes...and OneSeriousDude, complimented the Camaro, you have no reason to attack him for it.
@Travide shouldn't talk about ugly interior. when the car you like has an ugly exterior. haha and new 5.0? doesn't the camaro come with either a 3.6L or 6.2L? lmao should i really be worried about a 5.0? lol
@Corepred4 guy the mustang aint ugly outside and for one yeah the mustang also has a new v6 which well kick the camaros v6 ass and yes the big 6.2L is nothing compared to ford new 5.0L its simple facts its already proven its faster so yeah just because its a bigger engine doesn't mean much, theres lots of cars out there with smaller engines that well rape both of these cars
@Travide Yes it is ugly that's why they had to redesign it and it's still ugly. No replacement for displacement don't be stupid I'll take the bigger engine any day
@Corepred4 I hate to tell you, the 5.0 mustang has more power than the 6.2 camaro. But its still a stupid mustang. in 20 years more camaros will still be on the road because people buy them for their iconic value. Mustangs are like powerful Corolla's. More people buy them and they become boring.
@Seandude23 its ok, camaro is still much more badass of a car that the gay mustang. the way i look at it, mustangs are girl cars and camaros are for guys. i know its stupid but its just something about the car that makes me think that way, lol.
@Corepred4 Don’t you live your life in your ass. Camaro dose not have much to offer compared to the 2011 Mustang V-6, V-8, GT-500, and of course the Boss 302. The Boss 302 can beat a BMW M3 on the track. Camaro’s wouldn’t even dream of challenging a BMW.
actually vin 0001 is an ss that was given to rick hendrick i think idk it was on barrett jackson and it doesnt mean it was the first one they just put the vin on after its made
no mater what the mustang TRY'S to do... its still no comparison to the CAMARO... CHEVYS ALL DAY LONG... FUK FORD AND FUK MUSTANG THAT PIECE OF SHIT IS WAY OVER RATED. PLUS THEY NEED PPL LIKE SHELBY ROUSH TO MAKE HORSEPOWER. CAMAROS R ALL CHEVYS. 300HP+ STOCK BABY AND DATS JUST THE V6...
To be honest, I probably won't buy either of these cars, but, I will say if I was going too buy american muscle, I would buy the Ford because they build them in Flat Rock, Michigan. Your camaro was designed in Australia and built and assembled in Canada. By definition, that makes the camaro an Import.
Imports are Cars designed and built in a foreign country then shipped in to the US market.
@NOTORIOUSCARCLUB aseriouslly even the roush 427 has more horsepower then the camaro and ran the same quarter mile and a second slower o to 60 fords a joke there 5.0 isnt gonna do shit
@sparkalanio LIKE I SAID... FORD NEEDS PPLS AT ROUSH OR AT SHELBY,SVT TO MODIFY THERE PIECE OF SHITS. TO MAKE THEM WORTHY...,CHEVY DOES ALL NATURAL BABY... EITHER WAY ITS MY OPITION EVERY ONE HAS THERES I JUST TRULY BELIEVE FORD SUCKS!!! :-)
See, you are a good man. Obviosuly i can see your a Ford man. Im a chevy man. and finally i have "met" someone who was either a ford or chevy fan who didnt instantly say anything negative about the other car (in this case, the camaro)
So, good luck with your Stang. im gonna be loving my chevy when she comes in.
building cars now more durable and more safe, not the other way around. Give me a break! I remember when i was a kid my father worked actually at a Plymouth Production Line from 1956 to 1960 in 1957 he took me with him as a little kid, the cars were built from solid steel. And the price of a brand new one was under $2,000. Today a decent new car costs over 5 thousand dollars...give me a break!! All it is, is cheap plastic and vinyl crap.
Maybe you should re-read what i said??? - It was in two seprate comments the first one is below the 2nd one, read the comment below then the comment above where i left off.
@Jumpieboi You dont need to call me all those names, Well i know that, i just meant the cars were built out of heavy steel and will get very little damage in a crash with a car of today, like i was saying the other car was totaled and the guy was hurt i had whiplash he hit his forehead on the steering wheel and was knocked out and had to go to the hospital, it was some young kid racing his bmw like a nut and he went right into on coming traffic and got in the head on crash.
Cars are built like CRAP today. I drove a 1958 plymouth fury in a head-on accident with a 2000 BMW, my car had 4 scratches on the steel bumper, both cars were going 35 miles an hour or so, my car did not even have air bags, and all i had was minor whiplash. The BMW driver was in the hospital for 8 months, and the car was so totaled it did not even look like a car. I got some touch up paint, and my car was as good as new. Oh and not to mention i was not even wearing a seat belt...they should be
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I'm sadden to admit that this latest Camero DOES NOT have any appeals to my "musclecar craze"...I mean, just look at how ugly it looks ---- like a fuckin' die-casted Tonka Toy car!!!
At least the Mustang carries that mascular "Bullitt" image that brings back many strong memories of what America used to be!!!
Happy trails, Obama Motors, I mean...Government Motors...I mean, GM ---- that is!!!
Watching this kind of makes me somewhat sad 'cause it's not the Chevelot I used to adored...
After a couple of bailouts and they still couldn't hold on to the company; Pontiac, which failed on their GTO comeback, is GONE; and now this "Camero" ?...huuhhh!!!...
Fuck Chevrolet, they're arrogance, cheaply-made products, mismanagement and government subsidies through a socialist un-American administration has sealed the deal.
I'm still considering Buick because of the nice effort they've made with the 2010 LaCrosse.
In my eyes, the only American car company still worth a shit is Ford, and maybe *maybe* a couple subsidiaries from Chrystler such as Dodge or GM such as Buick.
Gotta get me one of them dang Austrialian designed, Korean styled, Canadian built Camaros. This car is more than a Mustang could ever be. This is a world car.
oh HOW NICE.I will not buy another GM product ! I've had enough.Thank you , but Goob Bye. For the last 15yrs I've had a couple GM rattle trap pieces of shit . No More.
This sucks i just found out my old 1979 pontiac lemans 4 speed car was built at this canada plant. Thought i would have been built in freemont or Michigan somwhere
I tight behind u zrider I'm a chevy fan too and tomorrol I'm geting my camaro it's going to be yellow wit the black cyber strips and it's going to a LT2 :]
What a waste of metal, rubber, and, oils. the camaro is HIDEOUS!

Siegetower 9 months ago
@Siegetower The chassis is being made from scratch in the US, it will have nothing to do with that generic Aussie shit, the greatest muscle cars in history were pure American with no Aussie interference.
Greendude33 9 months ago
Siegetower 9 months ago
@Siegetower Um no the Camaro is getting the Alpha redesign, b/c its rival the Mustang is eating its lunch right now thanks to that shitty Zeta platform. The Alpha was just a concept in 04 but after the success of the CTS line GM is now introducing a smaller Caddy the ATS of which will pass its platform to the Camaro. The Alpha is being made and designed in the US. The Aussies no offense killed Pontiac and insulted the legendary GTO so I'm glad GM is dumping the Zeta.
Greendude33 9 months ago
@Greendude33 I think it was the GFC that killed Pontiac. Just because GM USA didn't design their own Pontiac, just re-badged Australia's top selling car and added a different grille, then introduced it right before the mortgage meltdown and take-over of GM by the US government who have an agenda of transport that has no place for realistic and enjoyable V8 cars, through financial necessity GM eventually cost cut the Pontiac brand out of existance...don't blame Australia. We just like driving V8s
Siegetower 9 months ago
@Greendude33 And what is shitty about the Zeta platform. Do you have an engineering perspective to explain that. Do you realise how easy it is to modify Commodores/G8s with all sorts of superchargers, blowers etc that motoring and performance enthusiasts crave. I'm getting the vibe from youtube that the Camero is likewise just as easy and effortless to customise. Is any advantage Mustangs have through Ford transmissions? Highway Patrol guys here love their Fords over GM for that reason only.
Siegetower 9 months ago
Back in the days the Camaro was made in America then later on and now is built in Canada, so what well GM needs to make another factory in America so actually make the Camaro in Jersey or for the best part Tennesee the GM Chootanoga assembly plant if they don't well I rahter stick with the Mustang. If Ford thinks of saving the St.Thomas, Ontario assembly plant then if they make the Mustang their then their will be fools of making the Mustang in Canada !

mansfieldcanada 1 year ago
@mansfieldcanada Take our Cars? LMAO The best American cars are still made in America I/e Corvette and Caddilac. The Camaro was long ruined once it took that shiity Aussie chassis. Compared to American factory workers you're a sweatshop, we use other countries b/c we are America. There's no way in hell the Bowling Green workers would work for as little as 22 an hour.
Canada is a GM outsource and the whole point of outsourcing is b/c it's cheaper.
Greendude33 1 year ago
@Greendude33 if that's the case then why wouldn't they just build a factory in mexico retard? then it'd be even cheaper! and i know for a fact they made 72 an hr because it was all over the news day in and day out at the start of the recession how gm was just a shitstorm because workers were making so much to making very little i know they cut the pay but it sure as hell wasn't 22 an hr. Americans have a choice of what vehicle they purchase, but all of us need to pull for Chevy. We own this company and need to show the world that we are not dependent on them for our needs. We have became a consuming country instead of a producing country! Its sad! And I agree its bs they lied the way they did to try and make them selves look better! People buying HONDA AND TOYOTA will be the final outsource to our economy! I promise
jrlecure 1 year ago
@T77406 No, For example the Bowling Green Kentucky Facility (Corvette) has not only been GM's highest Quality factory but one of the best in North America and the world.
The ONLY REASON the Camaro and other American cars are made in Canada is b/c theu can avoid those damn labor unions, not to mention Canadian workers work for less per hour than Americans. It's a cost saving measure only.
Greendude33 1 year ago
@Greendude33 actually we make more than the americans. the average hourly wage for a gm worker in canada at the brampton, ontario plant (where the build the trucks) was 72 dollars an hour....it's not cheaper. but we have to pay way more for certain things. prime example. the camaro. look at gmcanada and build and price one. then price one on the US chevy site i rest my case.. and housing. what's 140 grand down in the US is 300 grand here.
mansfieldcanada 1 year ago
@mansfieldcanada The plant in michigan that orginally was slated to make the Camaro would have had to pay over double the wages Canadian workers get.
72 dollars an hour haha BULLSHIT I know for a fact that the avg wage for that particular factory is 22 USD and hour compared to the avg in Michigan of 45 dollars an hour. GM is in Canda b/c it is cheap and in Canada we don't have to pay for health benefits for the workers.
Why would GM leave the states b/c its more expensive?
Greendude33 1 year ago
GM is a joke, they'll lie straight to your face on television thru thier own CEO! They didn't repay their loan 5 years early, all they did was take other money from the TARP fund to pay it. Rob Peter to pay Paul, why do they think we are so stupid. I was a huge Chevy, GM fan all my life till today. I hate them now, never will I buy from such liars again!
tbonejackone 1 year ago
@tbonejackone Why are you even commenting if you hate them so much? At least their selling their vehicles! I've never seen so many crappy, piece- of- junk Toyotas on used car lots in my life! Toyota has had more recalls on more models in the past year than any car maker in automotive history! If your going to hate an automaker, then why not hate Toyota? They lied to our faces and cost nearly 100 people their lives and millions of dollars in damage to property!
jclgw33 1 year ago
@jclgw33 Yeah you're right, I hate Toyota too. They lied just as much, but the way GM did it was in a commercial directed right at us, like we were stupid. Greendude33 1 year ago 25
TheMagicalBikeCrew 1 year ago
What are you talking about the American auto plants are among the best in the world.
The american workers and their damn unions wanted to much money so the cheaper Canadian option was why they chose to make them their.
But the Bowling Green Kentucky plant is the best GM has I think they could have made them there and created thousands of new jobs.

@Greendude33 The hell you talking outsourcing? GM was a public global company, and since post bankrupt owned by both US & Canadian governments in bail out money. Come on out of your rock and see how the world really works.
Sc0rPsX 1 year ago
@Sc0rPsX Yes that's outsourcing the Camaro used to be made in Michigan USA but the damn unions and bullshit legislation moved it to Canada. GM can make the Camaro far cheaper in Canada than the US.
Nothing wrong with Canada it just kills the heritage of the name.
Greendude33 1 year ago
@Greendude33 Since the US dollar tanked it is not cheaper to make a Camaro in Canada. Nobody is denying this type of car was an American muscle car icon and many still do... thing is the GM is also Canadian in ownership and global in operations... so you can see why no longer just America. Also the two economies are pretty interconnected, it is also a fact if one goes down it drags the other with it. Shocking I know but faster you realize how the two countries depend on each better the better.
Sc0rPsX 1 year ago
@Sc0rPsX Actually the currency on the decline as of late has been the Euro (thank Greece) where as the dollar has risen at a steady rate after its dip in the recession of 08.
In Canada they don't have the same Unions and legislation as say the State of Michigan and its workers. So what would be a $40 per hour job in the US is a $20 an hour job in canada.
And China is America's number one trade partner not Canada.
Greendude33 1 year ago
@Greendude33 Not talking about the Euro, and yes it is. The US currency has fallen to the Canadian and not doing so great currently. Practically at par. Secondly, Canadian workers are paid MORE than their US counterparts. Of course there is times of more in one or the other but not double. So in this case it may be a little less but nothing to what you think, plus it's already proven worker's wages only equate to about 5% of vehicle cost!
Sc0rPsX 1 year ago
@Greendude33
China is your #1 trade partner? Now I know you're a dumbass. Sorry, I can't take anything you say seriously anymore...
incompetentandfsmous 1 year ago
@Sc0rPsX GM saves so much in building in Canada for example they don't have to pay a dime for any healthcare plans for their Canadian workers where in the US GM has to have a healthcare plan for its workers. This alone is miillions of dollars a year.
But as for quality the premier GM factory is the Bowling Green Kentucky facility which is reknowned as not only GM's best factory but one of the best in the world.
Greendude33 1 year ago
@Greendude33 First, only basic healthcare is covered in Canada and that's paid by premiums plus tax! Second, extended benefits DO cost plenty so again... learn a bit before you preach. You sound so ignorant. Second look again on how the US & Canadian economies are locked in and supporting each other and not just in goods. Majority of oil is from Canada as well as resources, power and water! So who do you think needs each other more? Again, do some research...

Greendude33 9 months ago
@Greendude33 "What happened to the days of it being made in Michigan?" From a foreigners perspective it looks like your trade unions have priced the American worker out of a job. Enforcing retirement benefits that were drawn up on the 1950's before Japanese brands took your market share and made it less economically viable to make all cars for the US market actually in the US. They probably can't afford to make them in Michigan.

building cars now more durable and more safe, not the other way around.

@grumpypant C-A-M-A-R-O, at least GM could spell pontiac

I loved the Camaro... back in 2006!
