  • Considering it was shot in 8mm, I'd say Fritz Wagner is one hell of a cinematographer.

Am I only one who thinks Nosferatu is among Murnau's worst survived movies (which still doesn't make it bad)?

  • @Retardretroguy It was not shot in 8mm, dude. It was shot in 35mm. 8mm would look more than terrible.

  • @BenTheoRowe You're right. It was released in 8mm, which got me confused.

  • America has Criterion. And now we have Masters of Cinema AWESOME!!!

  • greatest silent movie ever in my opinion.

  • Can someone please help me. I'm looking for THIS version of the film... but there are like seven or eight different versions of "Nosferatu" available on DVD all claiming to be "restored". I own one version that I can hardly sit through because the musical score is so uninspiring. Where do I locate this version at?

  • @pnroyal order this The double disc Kino set! this is the definitive version and is REALLY restored!!!

The other different and good version is IMAGE Entertainment's edition of this movie, but the others are all crap!

    Sincerely,

    Sophia

  • @DavidHenesy thank you so much for your help!

  • @pnroyal

This is the KINO dvd restoration. I'm not sure where you might find it, but you can order it online from their website.

  • enjoy enjoying that full edition regarding this kind of movie in a+v+a+t+z.net remove +

  • which version is this ?

  • This is the Masters of Cinema, as it says at the begining. It's available in Britain.

  • ...Who (and WHAT) is the Wolf? (at 0:52)

  • @firstyouseeit This is supposed to be a werewolf, but is in fact a hyena. Murnau knew it was not a well known animal at the time, so he thought he could use it as a stand in for a werewolf.

  • @firstyouseeit you mean at 0:42. That is a hyena playing a werewolf :P

  • I saw the 1922 horror silent-film "Nosferatu" when I was fourteen in October 2001. I thought that it was a great movie. Max Schreck was a great actor!

  • I love this movie! I thought Hutter reminded me of Willie Loomis in Dark Shadows! LOL! And where did they get the idea that a hyena would be what a werewolf looked like? LOLOL!

  • Yeah, wonderful use of a dracula rewrite

  • That"s the Kino version for sure!

  • Which one is better kino or MoC?

  • did it have to be tinted?

  • It was originally tinted to show change of setting and time of day.

  • I've composed a new orchestral score for this

movie (Demo on my page) and I'm still looking

for the most completed German Version. If anyone knows it, please tell me!

  • The kino version. Its tinted (this is it) and it has the origianl names!!!

  • I've got my new Eureka version on the way I own the old Eureka version with the horrible synth soundtrack and the horrible transfer, I can't wait for this version to arrive.

  • This looks like it has MoC and Craig Keller's fingerprints all over it. Way to go.

  • The best image quality surving print is even superior to what we see in this restoration!!! They reduced the quality of it a bit, by turning more contrasting with highlighs a little washed out to try to match the image of other sources of lower quality, also used to reconstruct the film, since the best material had not all scenes of the complete film.

  • This is one of my favorite films; I'm really glad to hear about this edition. From the looks of the trailer, this will be the only print worth watching! Bravo!

  • This is great news! For US fans of Murnau's classic film, this version will be available from Kino on Video.

  • Seens they found the original score, since years lather they was trying to find or trying to find remaining parts, as was not fully available, or something like that. The Bran Stoker widoW MOVED A LITIGATION AGAINST THE FILMS, DUE COPYRIGHT INFRINGMENTS, AND TH COURT ORDERED THE DESTRUCTION OF THE ORIGINAL NEGATIVE AND ALL COPIES, Luckely few copies and a good copies also survived, and was used for this restoration. Now, 85 years later, the film is complete again.

  • The missing frames wasn't restored, since those frames mostly was available in other footages.

  • amazing quality! no grain whatsoever! MoC rules!

  • WOW! The quality is sooo much better then the DVD I own. They did a GREAT job restoring this. I can't wait to pick it up and hear the oridinial score along with it.
