Mother may I.

I remember playing this as a child. Do you recall this game?

One would play mother and the rest of us are children.

Mother would call out one child's name and then say something like: "Take two baby steps forward."

The child must answer mother before performing the action she requested: "Mother May I?"

To which she would reply "Yes You May."

If the child took two baby steps forward w/o asking then Mother would punish it and send them backwards two steps.

"Mother May I?"

Maa!
