  • Nice Tagalog song!!! Hahah :-)

  • Beautiful job! I have been thinking about doing some of this to make extra money, my bro did that and wound up having a lucrative business from it. Hard to believe this was your first one - everything is very smooth and professional looking! Thanks for sharing.

  • hey that a filipino song about a man saying he's not gay but for a while his voice changes to a gay one. ahahahhah funny

  • Not too smart -- always insert an intermediary layer of eg, pure linen (doubled is optimal, with a sheet of raw silk between those two layers), below the leather, so as to abet its breathing in both directions, and that minimizes dry rot, odors and helps with weight bearing ie, shifting occupant weight -- a layer of horse hair proves optimal!

  • looks sooo difficult!

  • Did you use and air or an electric staple gun? I have been watching videos and everyone else states you need a super uphosltry power gun.

  • very helpful! i am thinking of reupholstering a similar looking chair...it has the ugliest grandma fabric haha...im a bit scared about it though.

  • You did an awesome job! I started taking the old cover off of my similar wingback chair last February and have purchased all the materials/fabrics to recover it. How long would you say it took to recover the chair once the old cover was off?

  • Do you just need the fabric and a staple gun? did u need a sewing machine?

  • hi!

how did you stitch the corners? I mean how did you sew that tube-like piece in the corners? i can't see it in the video...

    thank you!

    amazing job!!!

  • I have a set of that exact chair! I'm glad you made this video, this will make my summer project of reupholstering them much easier! Do you know an approximation of how much yardage of fabric you used? I want to be able to buy something of quality (because I need to sell my chairs after I'm done fixing them).

  • @BlueToDie I probably used about 6-7 yds. I bought a roll with about 20 yds remaining at a discount so I wasn't conservative on cutting what I needed. Remember that you need to consider the fabric pattern. You can't have some pieces vertical and some horizontal or diagonal. You shoul have a consistent look.

  • Very inspiring...It's driving me to recover my wings chairs.....I have 12....Do you know any closing out or discount fabric stores in NJ, NY or PA?

  • okay...im a big diy-er...well im going to make a free standing wingback headboard for my queen bed. i want the sides to look exactly like the sides of the chair including the arms...what i am stumped at is the caps on the arms in the front. how do you make those and how in the world are they attached to the arms??? any info on that would reallllly help me out. :)

  • Go to austinwarrendesign for holiday design tips and more!

  • Absolutely excellent well done.

  • not real hard . i usually do the flat work all but the wings i usually sew those . takes about 5 yards for the ones with out the removable seat .

  • while watching the video, I stopped and said.. wait a minute, I think I can understand the song hahaha! Hindi ako badaf! nice song! hihiihi!

  • Absolutely Stunning to be your first re-upholster project. I've cover dining room chairs before but a wing chair, NEVER !!! I 'd be terrified, this is a job i would totally leave for the pro's.....such as yourself !!!!! lol.....

  • How did you do the piping on the seat pillow?? That just appeared! Seems the hardest thing to me and the chair I'm considering doing has piping on most of the seams . . .

  • Nice job! I'm going to try for the first time myself! You've encouraged me!

  • Beautiful! HOw did you know how much fabric to buy?

  • @nb342 The fabric was bought on a close out sale. If I have to do it again, I'll just estimate ++, ...you're saving on labor anyways

  • @nb342 it takes about 5 .5 yrds for this type of chair ... it's called a queen anne .

  • is there a school u go to to learn to reupholster furniture

  • @nino4100 No. Just a do it yourself fan. Just be careful on taking it apart and take down notes...pictures while you're doing it helps....and watch a lot of similar videos from YouTube. Good luck and have fun

  • @nino4100 got to work at a chair factory ..lol.. thats where i learned i have done several or these chairs out of my garage .. not real hard . i usually do the flat work all but the wings i usually sew those .

  • bakla means gay

  • I think this chair is even "standing a little taller" with it's new look :)

  • lol... that song is in tagalog, it says i'm not gay.

  • awesome job, this makes me want to give it a try!

    The music is cute too

  • thanks! this really helps alot!

how long did this project take you?

  • I use YouTube to learn things I'm interested in and that is precisely the reason when I did this, I was taking pictures as I go along so the date on the pictures would show how long it took me. I work on this project after I get home from my regular job and on weekends.

  • This is the exact chair i'm doing or want to do, but how did you do the piping with the same material. I missed it. Thanks in advance.

  • Thanks for your visit and comment. The piping step is at time 2.03 I change the foot on the sewing machine to do the piping process.I used the same fabric and even use the same pipe I removed because it was made of hard plastic. cord If it was just a plain cord, I'll just get a replacement.

  • call me crazy but i was totally digging the crazy music

  • crazy...

    hehe ;)

  • The music is supposed to be a fun beat background. The singer is a funny comedian novelty singer/composer. You can view the music video at YouTube, search for "HIndi Ako Bakla"

  • The Music is quite bad but i kinda like it! ;) The chair looks great though!

  • Fabulous job! I wish I could do that....

  • when you put the new fabric on did you use the metal strips?

  • I took it apart carefully that I was able to use the same metal strips and platic piping cord and foam.

  • how long did it take you to do?

  • The date on the pictures would pretty much say how long it took me.

  • wonderful!!!

  • great job! I have to agree music needs to be changed

  • Music was terrible, but the chair looks awesome.

  • LMAO I SECOND THAT

  • Good job.
