  • Don't smoke weed... LOL

  • @sludgeplath Totally!!! And on vinyl it really stands out!

  • i love this band

although i feel some zeppelin in them too

  • The Machine Head guy told in an interview taht he went with Lars Ulrich to a Sword concert and Lars sang every word of the songs like a fanboy.

  • Is there anybody else like me who actually thinks that their 'Age of Winters' album is the best with tracks 6,7 and 8 being the ultimate Sword?

  • @jmsbk12345 Aye sir, all of The Sword is bad ass, but that first record is a masterpiece that cannot be recreated

  • Saw them in Indianapolis last week. Absolutely FANTASTIC.

  • This is how we rock in TEXAS!!!!!

  • yea i know. its like OMG they could use him for black sabbath when ozzy dies. yayayaya......

THATS MORONIC the sword is the sword. ID PAY 300 TO SEE THEM and nothing to see ozzy anymore sabbath is dead leave it that way remember it how it was.

  • when i hear this all i can imagine is laser guns and robots!

  • I like that you can actually hear the singer's voice on this album. Also, the riffs and shit.

  • Really love those guys but I was a little sad when I found out that that song is a HUGE ripoff of the song "Death Ride" from the band "Blood Of The Sun".

  • 6 people dont know what the fuck they are talking about!

  • I really hope they switch back to their old style. I like this album, but it's nothing compared to their first two. They said it was going to be different and be more of a hard rock style and that not everyone will like it, but man I love the other albums. Sure, this one has better production values, but the songs are just not as epic as the songs on Gods of the Earth.

  • yes the production is ten fold of the other albums :D

  • Smooth as fuck!!I

  • Stoner Metal 4ever!

  • Stoner Metal 4ever!

  • The beginning of this song reminds me of the ending of Mastodon's "Blood and Thunder".

  • ouch, reduce the clipping on this track..!

  • Very good, nice and groovy. I found myself banging my head just a little.

  • i dont know what band will put out an album that tops this one...... KILLER!!!!

  • its more than just one riff

the punches on the second part are all stolen

maybe you didnt listen to the real version

because it is clear as a bell!!!!!

  • @AlwaysBeKilling Have you heard the new Enslaved album? It's really great too.

  • well...Black Sabbath sound...

These are the new band ?

  • ya !!! Black Sabbath is reborn /m/

  • @gdynian i love black sabbath, but please stop. This band is THE SWORD.

  • @thewoolycontacts then you are deaf and have no idea of Black Sabbath (OZZY)

  • @gdynian Sabbath Reunion in the works. I really think these are the best guys to open.

Saw them opening for Kyuss and felt that Kyuss should have been opening for them. There aren't many bands capable of following the Sword.

Imagine though, a 15 song set by The Sword followed by the Sabbath set.

  • BLOOD OF THE SUN DEATHRIDE RIP OFF!!!!

    CHECK IT YOURSELF

  • @BOTS1972

The only thing that's similar about it is that one riff, and it isn't a very complex riff at all. I'm sure something like it has been used many times before.

  • @BOTS1972 No, not even close.

  • @AlwaysBeKilling it has good and bad things about it, but it is beyond listenable. I thouroughly enjoy listening to this album as do many others and i think that this is a step in the right direction with respect to The Sword. Alottttt better production as mentioned befotre.

  • This album is anything and everything a metal fan may want or need. I like it because its got some more bluesy roots while the sword stilll reinforces their spacy, drawn out style of music. If you'd like your mind to enter the Realm of the Sword listen to this album about nine times, cause it could keep you dreaming forever!

  • @AlwaysBeKilling do it

  • @AlwaysBeKilling

Honestly, in my opinion most metal nowadays sucks pretty badly. I like the old stuff, and bands that are more 'oldskool' focused like The Sword. Thats why!

  • @AlwaysBeKilling

It is actually one of the best ive heard this year.

  • @AlwaysBeKilling I thought that too at first. Listen to it again..it does something different when you listen to it over again.

  • @Skwisgaar70 not really its good but not great . personally i like bands who change their sound every so often.. if you were to put this song or any other song off the new album on one of their old albums it would fit in perfectly. even if i dont like the new sound i respect the band more when they take that risk.. this is one of the reasons why people lost interest in thrash and most of the metal bands of the 80's - early 90's

  • This is the best retro-styled, hard-slamming, ass-kicking metal band of our time.

  • @smithsonik93 I would nominate Sheavy for the best retro-styled, hard-slamming, ass-kicking metal band of our time. Check them out.

  • @SupernautG

    I will do so.

  • I dig the music. The vox arn't unbearable, but I feel he needs a bit more inflection & variance in his melodies. Just a scoach monotone. But overall they kick ass.

  • kick ass guitar playing. i like the album art, especially the cover. :D

  • I'm so fucking happy my friend introduced to this BEST SHIT IVE HEARD ALL MONTH

  • @dawgsftw Try Sheavy's music also.

  • I love this song because it has a sort of jimi hendrix vibe

  • I can't get enough of this album. It's got way better production than the previous records. Yet, it's still raw and in your face. Cronise pushes his vocals to new levels and it works. Ever song is killer in it's own right, but best observed in it's entirety at volume. It's easily the best metal record I've purchased this year.

  • @sludgepath no way man, Gods Of The Earth is way better than Wrap Riders, easily

  • holy shit the vocals are a lot cleaner than the earier albums

  • The sword is so fucking kick ass.

  • Just bought the new album. I personally love it and think that they are evolving as a band. They just keep getting better and they are branching out. Love this shit along with Age Of Winters and Gods of Earth. got all 3 albums

  • @Subtonic2837 damn its out? where did you pick it up? I always have a bullshit hard time finding their albums here in Ontario.

  • @chills2102 If you're anywhere near downtown Toronto, you should check out Sunrise Records or Sonic Boom, you can get this record there.

  • @chills2102 they sell the album at hot topic, try there?

  • this album blows chunks right into my brain straight into the milkway...... double rainbooooow

  • Can't wait till I get my hands on a copy of this album. This is the only song I've heard so far, sounds awesome but rings a bit of Maiden, Mother, and Crone.

  • Good job fellas

  • reminds me of Gradius

  • I'm loving the new turn with the vocals, and the guitar riffs are still heavy...this new album sounds SICK

  • Even they only have 3 albums... The Sword is still one of my favorite metal bands. They fucking rock!!!!!

  • this is different

  • Love how their sound is evolving!

  • Dear Everyone: Just listened the the album streaming on their myspace page. it's fucking ridiculous, every song keeps getting better than the last (except Night City... got bored of that one fast). The last track is the best by far tho, (tears of fire) probably one of the swords best, if not THE best.

    different but certainly not disappointing

  • I love Age of Winters, but was pretty disappointed by Gods of the Earth. Sadly this song isn't impressing me either. Age of Winters blew my fucking mind (still does) It's heavy, the production is great, and the vocals are powerful. It's a stoner masterpiece. Gods of the earth however, toned down the face crushing riffss and went for a much more underproduced and flaccid sound.

This however just sounds like classic rock with elements of stoner doom. It sounds like they've lost they're balls.

  • When i heard Matt Bayles was gonna be the producer for the new sword album i just knew it was gonna sounds amazing, and well it does writing wise and production wise. i just cant wait till i hear the whole album! to bad it comes out once school starts..........

  • Preordered the album from the site. Getting the vinyl and everything. Fuckin stoooked

  • I'm not sure whether I prefer these vocals or the older ones. But no matter if they are better or not, they are definitely more audible.

  • Not as good as last two albums vocals are weak! give the song less balls

  • i'm going to the concert when they come to cleveland i don't care if i have to kill somebody to get the tickets

  • Have heard 4 songs including this one and the others sound more like age of winters or gods of the earth but there is a definite space rock element kinda like sabbath with a little hawkwind mixed in.

  • best fucking band ever

  • sounds like more mainstream stoner metal, kinda like Monster Magnet

  • I was expecting pretty much from this Album, but i'm really disappointed. It just doesnt sound like the sword. His Voice totally sucks in this song.

I hope the rest of the album will be better. I LOVE the first two albums.

  • saw them play this live in norman oklahoma, very very very awesome!

  • i'm a bit disappointed! i hope the rest of the album will be better...

the first two albums were great with their exciting riffs and the other quality of vocals!

  • I'm not really digging JD's voice as much as usual, but still the Sword, still fuckin great. Can't wait for the full album release!

  • Isn't this basically the same story as Maiden, Mother, Crone? Maybe the epic prequel to it. Will the next album (I know, talking about the next album before this one is even out lulz) have the next part? That would totally rock. Also: Hope this album has another conan themed song on it. Frost Giant's Daughter was the shit.

  • Cronise felt this would alienate some listeners?!....Sounds like the Sword record either way you dice it! They're growing, as should all bands!

  • holy shit!! best shit yet! can't wait

  • THIS IS MY JAM RIGHT NOW.

Also, SUP DAWGS I HERD U LIEK ZZ TOP/

  • @codeaires l lol'd

  • A lot stonier than the previous albums.

    I'm deffinatly not complaining though.

  • I'm sad this sounds way softer than the older stuff. very boring I'm missing the murder guitar riffs

  • @TonyRedgrave1501

i feel you man, i'm a huge fan and was expecting incredible things from this band, but this song when i first heard it was completely underwhelming.

fast forward to now (a few weeks since the last time i heard it i think) and i'm still hearing a toned back friendlier version of their older stuff, but i have to say, i like it much more than the first time. i also need to focus on remembering that this is just a single for an album of a band that is releasing its breakout album

  • The harmony on the chorus actualy makes this song for me, so fucking awesome.

  • Three witches you shall meet. along the path to your fate. the first will help you. The second will decieve you, and the third will show you the way!

  • August 24th needs to come sooner

  • No point in standing still with your ideas and sound...when you play in a band that is the most boring thing you can do. Always challenge yourself and push things. I think Matt Bayles is an amazing choice(Isis, Mastodon, Russian Circles) and that this sounds fantastic. Got my ticket for December in Glasgow can't wait!

  • thank you!

  • Eh. I'm a big fan of The Sword, but if if this had been the first song I heard by them way back in early '06 instead of Winter's Wolves, I doubt I would have put forth the effort to find out more about them at the time. Winter's Wolves blew my mind and left me wanting more, this sounds like something that would cause me to change the station (if I listened to the radio).

*sighs* I know, I'm just picky.

  • Everyone's always going on about the vocals. I've never had a problem with them.

  • The Sword rules. I'm so excited for this album.

  • @bohottie Still a lot of elements of stoner rock in this song, too

  • I dig it; sounds like Skynyrd meets metal. I remember the lead singer saying the band wanted to avoid writing about dark magic, wizards, etc and try something new. I think it works.

  • Man ive seen the sword so many times, chilled with drummer a couple of times and kyle, love this band.

  • i hope he dosent sing like this on all the songs.i like how it sounds but i need some of the good old stuff.

  • They said from the beginning that this album was going to be more rock then metal. They knew they were probably going to lose some fans (just as they did when they released Gods of the Earth), but they they still did it because they evolved as a band. As someone who enjoys a wide variety of music, from classical to tech death, I will co-sign this shit (don't worry my credit is good) and throw a fist to the air in loving admiration. ...Fuck the haters!

  • Can't sleep. Being consumed by sludge and stoners. Feels great.

  • what happened?

  • I miss when JD was a droning zombie. Gave the, a unique vibe. This reminds me more of wolfmother than their old stuff.

  • @acaserogue01 TADA!!! behold the intentionality crafted Single. I reckon Night City will be the next Single off this album.

  • weird...i used to hope that one day his voice would be clear...but now i don't like it that much. still a great song imo.

  • God DAMN this is good!

  • Awesome album cover and I seriously love the chorus. I have a feeling this is going to be awesome album no.3. Gogo The Sword.

  • they admitted that this album might alienate some of their more hardcore fans, like myself, but i think this is awesome. \m/_

  • Hey, I'm not hating. I'm going to be buying the album the day it comes out. Even if I end up not liking the whole thing, there's always the next album. They've already delivered two absolutely 100% rock solid ones so far, and to be honest, most of what I've heard of the live performances sounds pretty good, even if I can't enjoy it much for the horrible cellphone recording quality.

  • man, this is kinda disappointing. I hope the rest of the album is better

  • sounds like theyve been listening to a lot of fu manchu. its good to see theyre attempting to evolve

  • Despite its departure from the usual Sword and my earlier statements about marketing.... this song is tenaciously catchy and has been on constant repeat in my head since over a day ago.

  • Holy Jeezus this is just beautiful stuff man!!!!

  • Heavy as hell, clean production, awesome riffing, catchy as fuck chorus. This new album is going to blow my mind out!

  • @djpetenice blow it like a chinese prostitute

  • WICKEDDDDD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • anybody who hates the sword will die in a chemical fire. tomorrow.

  • this song doesnt sound like it's in drop C....which is the status quo for the sword. i would listen to a whole album of bette midler covers if it was put out by these guys. i hope all of you naysayers die in a chemical fire.

  • @kohleradam this song is in standard c, same as all other sword songs as far as i know

  • @kohleradam every sword song has been in C standard, not drop C.

  • This does sound better mastered, which is good because we can really appreciate the fun lyrics now.

On the other hand, it also seems to be a bit simpler on the riffage and the overall structure of the song sounds less dynamic. It seems to just bounce between verse/chorus until the end, where we get a tiny little bit of flair.

I'm waiting with bated breathe for the rest to come out. But, measured on it's own merit, I would rank this below most of what I heard on the first two albums.

  • @KaiserinKayz I agree 100%. I hope the rest of the record is more metal. This track has a certain flavor of greedy corporatist fingers meddling with artistic freedom. I fear they've sacrificed the core metal vibe that I've come to love The Sword for with a diluted pop-rock sound to appeal to a wider audience. But this does not come as a surprise as virtually all bands that get even mildly popular and widely known succumb to this "business". Wolf Mother still got nothing on The Sword.

  • Great to hear their sound evolving. The beginning sounds like ZZ Top.

  • this is great :D it's a bit odd hearing the words though, i've only just deciphered gods of the earth and age of winters

  • Goddamn, this song is brilliant!

  • F mutha F'in ya!

  • It's gonna be a major pain in the ass when that noliesplease guy starts talking shit on this video too. Spam him if you see him.

  • awesome! many thanks!

  • Man that kicks ass... The Sword delivers yet again. I like their older material, but now they got a producer, they definitely sound better.

  • thank you some much for the post you made my day and probably my whole week or month. SO THANK U!!!!!!!!!

  • As much as I love The Sword's previous albums, it's good to see that their sound is evolving. CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEW ALBUM!!

  • @jasoniusmaximus same brotha

  • @jasoniusmaximus same brotha

  • If Any One Wants The Mp3 For Free Just Check The Description!!!

  • @TheDrummerStephenV

this band hardly makes any money the way it is....who do you think you are to post other's music like this and then offer it up for free...people need to be buying the albums when they come out...illegal downloaders are scum of the earth...

  • @mhsepultura well aren't you just the little internet cop....

  • @mhsepultura

    you mad

  • @mhsepultura No its ridiculous that you have to pay so much money for music anyway. Don't try saying that this band doesn't have money...

  • @bowbow13pats ....no this band doesn't make much money, most bands don't anymore due to you scumbags that steal it for free...you and your kind are half of the problem which is why music sales and the music industry as a whole are failing, and everything is going downhill...$11.99 for this cd at my local record store, or even $9.99 is not too much, and if it is for you, then get a job you deadbeat!!

  • @mhsepultura

    shut up

  • @mhsepultura You may want to look at how much music companies themselves have been screwing bands over the years. The music industry as a whole is in need of an overhaul starting from the top (the labels)

  • @mhsepultura Incorrect. Bands make the vast majority of their money on merch. If you want to support a band, download the album and buy the T-shirt and poster.

  • @browncoat697 its so true I know this from experience

  • yeah The Sword!

  • good stuff - like the "non-muddy" vocals.

  • Wow, i really didnt think it would sound this rock..Even still, AWESOME

  • Greatest band of all-time right here!

  • @maxflier Agree

  • Its because this is the first of their albums they did not mix themselves. This is how The Sword sounds properly mixed by a professional. It sounds great. You can actually here him and he does not get drowned out or sound fuzzy. Cant wait for this album.

  • @dwl250

Yeah I heard they had a professional producer this time round.

When I first heard this I was like "Oh, J.D. CAN sing?" :p

  • I see now what some folks were saying when they mentioned the different vocal style. Still, I like this. A Lot.

  • @Nursesaids i think its better, he's just muturing his voice

  • @Nursesaids His vocals are way more distinct on the older albums try "Fire Lances of the Ancient Hyperzephrians" they're like a modern day black sabbath and when they opened for Metallica they sounded perfect live.

  • its good but his voice being different is kinda wierd, not worried though they said its going to be diverse

  • 1st and finally its up
