Duran Duran treated Warren very badly. Despite many years of loyal service he was kicked out of the band. That new guitarist is good but hes a hired hand and they certainly treat him as such. I saw the ITV special where his name was not even mentioned. The new album is mediocre. Mark Ronson was a terrible choice as a producer. It sounds much too retro.
@bentandgyan Astronaut was a dreadful album. That Justin Timberlake album was bad also. The new album is better than those but they were dreadful. Personally I like Madazzaland which I think is a good album. Pop Trash was not bad. The best Duran Duran albums are Notorious and Big Thing. Liberty was rubbish and The Wedding album was ok. Rio is good but its not my favourite of mine. Duran Duran can write brilliant songs but not entire albums. Notorious and Big Thing being the exception.
@Stevethesearcher well i agree about Astronaut a terrible album. I though RCM was better, but not great. My favourites are probs the first album, Rio, Big Thing, The Wedding and this one, not too keen on Pop Trash or Meddazaland, Thank You or liberty. An uneven but interesting career !

Meditteranea, Before the Rain, Leave a Light on, The man who stole a Leopard and All you need is now. They are the good songs on the album. However there are a lot of songs which sound like Rio out takes.

@Stevethesearcher Just want to add that my favourite Duran Duran album is "Big Thing" There are some great songs on that album. Big Thing, All she wants, I dont want your love, Do you believe in Shame, The whole of side two was great. For me that was Duran Duran at their best. I think Notorious is very good as well. Most critics think Notorious is their best album. Personally I think Duran Duran 86 - 88 was their best period not their heady days of 1984
@bentandgyan You are right. We all have our opinions and thats cool. The one commom thing is that we are all Duran Durans Fans. They are a classic band and they have stood the test of time. They get slagged off a lot by ignorant people who dont understand eighties music but they are still playing more than thirty years after formimg so thats my argument to anyone who disrepects them.
Dom is awesome. I downloaded both his releases from iTunes. He is a great performer and musician in his own right. His sound is definately different from Duran Duran, but he is a great addition to the band....and I've been a fan since day 1.
@puddycat33 Does it seem to you that the band seldom gives Dom lisence to really cut loose or is just a difference in style between Andy, Warren and Dom? If AT could get his act-together and be a band-mate it would be cool to have him back. I keep tabs on WC and his direction at the moment is so different than the DD- "AYNIN" recording. I guess I'll keep waiting for DB to add the "Hard-edge" to DD's past and current tunes. I do like his live-solo on the tail end of Mediterranea!
DD were told by Ronson to go back to basics on this album if they want a successful record.....and Dom was
only hired to play , not to put his 2 cents in....whether he will in the future.., or not, very much depends on the terms of his contract....and we will not know for at least a while...... Have u read AT book? It really does give one
WOW,it sounded amazing I'm really really happy about this new album, They'll be in Toronto this April playing in a small club...pissed off I didn't get a ticket
@neonjunglejumper yes but the problem with andy and warren is that they wanted duran duran to sound like AC/DC, so it was better to hire a low profile guitarist that just play and keep the damn mouth closed.
