This was from an Ebay sale. It was a Champ chassis that I hand built. I used a power transformer with a higher voltage so it would sound better with the larger tubes. In my opinion the larger tubes gave the amp a brighter sound that was more scooped in the mids than a 6V6 so it had more clarity in the cleans. It was a louder amp overall because of the higher plate voltages. I'm not sure if the sound difference was the tubes as much as impedence mismatching with the output transformer.
Thanks for posting this video. This helps me with my current tube amp. As far as I can tell the jump from 6V6 to 6L6GB tube produces the biggest difference sound wise. I couldn't really distinguish the SQ diff when the vid went from 6L6GB to the KT66 tube.
