I got a cat out of a sewer once and even though it wasn't in our job description the PR we got from it was amazing. It made the paper - must have been a slow news day - and I took a lot of kidding from it but the non-members who saw it in the paper increased their donations that year.

These kind of things are reasons why taxpayers think fire departments are fat and staffing should be cut. For every "feel good" video on TV/You Tube there is some old focker that wants his taxes cut, and will vote down any bond issue for a new ladder truck. Yes, I know - customer service - service call - aid call - etc. That cat will get down by itself. And, that weak excuse that they're getting some ladder training, please. I've done plenty of daring cat "saves" in my 33 years.

So the people call the fire department to rescue a cat from the roof, taking there time away from real emergencies, when they could of just gotten a ladder or neighbor to climb up there and get it down. Just throw a rock at it, and let it fall down, it'll still have eight lives(jk :P), but still.

no need to use a rock, either use a garden hose or just put a ladder against the roof and cat food at the bottom. Sooner or later the cat will get hungry.
