@armargedon10 when Talib mentions the "counterfiet" in the game hi tek throws the horns up as if to signify those who are under that symbol r the counterfiet.....
Talib Kweli is the fuckin' man. If you don't wan't to be learn about Talib Kweli and would rather listen to "aston martin music" GET DA FUCK OF THIS. Brooklyn Stand the f*uck up. If you don't know about Talib and would like to learn more, more power to ya..He's the man.
What's all this shit about who is best and number 1. Missing the point. Stop getting hung up on who is the best and instead just start to really question every lyricist properly and think about why Kweli is so good compared to other rappers and what the reasons for this are. What it is he hopes his lyrics will achieve.
Transpose this to every argument, not just musical ones.

@JJags32MJD I know, that's why drake wrote most of the carter 3. However most wayne fans won't admit to it. I love kweli and most rappers like him but rappers like drake and such do serve a purpose in this game. If everybody rapped like the underground MCs that we love, then the game would be just as boring as it is now. There needs to be a sense of balance in the game. Without it, we wouldn't like who we like now.
@JJags32MJD ....drake raps about emotional real shit wayne raps about being a fake blood and booty shakin hoes. i guess if you only listen to the voice maybe.
Why doesn't this video have more views by now? This is one of the greatest songs ever and they did it in the midst of all the ignorant music that's out right now. Nobody wants to hear this type of music? C'mon son! P.S. I'm from the south and happen to like a lot of southern music, but this is sick.
Oh-my-phukkn-GAWD..this was absolutely the dopest thing ive heard all day..The joint "just begun" is pretty dope too..Reflection Eternal saved my life today..
but real talk...this album made me feel really good on the inside..i cant recall any hip hop album influencing me in such a positive way...and the ballad of theblack gold is that joint that makes me feel so positively influenced i could easily see myself leading a peaceful protest to my own government town halls or the white house asking that we change our american governing to one for the people..cant explain how positive this album influenced me..props kweli keep spreading the good word!
@MrKnowItAll1987 That's the truth right there. I had to restart The ballad of the Black Gold the first time I heard it b/c I was driving and wasn't REALLY listening. One of the lines caught my ear and I had to back and listen. F'ing great album.

If Pac was here, I could already hear him saying," yes, yes, YES, where my real thugs, where they at , where they at, wheres my real thugs, where they at?"

@MrKnowItAll1987 you do realize that over the years that hand gesture has developed multiple meanings. for one example its used in sign language, and it has become a gesture used for pretty much any situation. by posting an awkward all caps comment like what you just did you are in fact reading into it. worry about secret societies in politics and not music. although its good that people like you are aware its also super annoying to see an illuminati related comment on every music video i watch
@MrKnowItAll1987 Kweli n Hi-Tek were simply saying they're eliminating the ILL ones.....in which u already know who that is. The devils in the music sign....n that hand sign HI-TEK threw up was the ILL ones symbol. Thats why KWELI had the revolutionary black power fist up......beforehand.
ver intresting how the director of the video made it a very blatant move to zoom in on hi tek appropiately throwing the baphomet symbol...theres alot of hidden sublimonal messaging in this song..it seems like your beautfiul typical talbi track...until you realize ...some things verymuch out of the talib ordinary...great deceipt if you may
He did that after Talib through up the black power fist and said " here to eliminate the counterfeit " so people realize what they mean by counterfeit
this here is real hip-hop and its pretty new thanks kweli and hi-tek for droppin this tape this year when hip-hop was taking over by wack beats and wack rhymes and barely anybody has talent or flow
This is that raw hip hop right there. Straight MCin over a hard track, no gimmics and catchy hooks. I miss shyt like this man! Makes you think a little, instead of shaking your azz over mindless banter 24/7.
@Jahbril30 I can't stand that irritating ass voice of his! OMG he is sooooooo annoying, he sounds like a lil' boy who is going through voice changes! ugh!
I really like the song, the message to work hard, that "talent's nothing without practice" verse, but I don't get all this "black power" and "white devils" ting. It's like all white men are rich and successful and all they do is exploitating black men. Trust me there' lot's of white people who live in such places and conditions they don't even contemplate an opportunity of getting a well-paid job or getting education. Rich always are smhow opposed to poor, what does race has to do with it?
Still can't decide what's my favorite track. It's between this, city playgrounds, and ballad of the black gold. Dope album, both hi tek and talib did incredible.
you gotta get the chillz listening to this beats. FUCK #HITEK

brownboysur13 1 year ago
This is that raw hip hop right there. Straight MCin over a hard track, no gimmics and catchy hooks. I miss shyt like this man! Makes you think a little, instead of shaking your azz over mindless banter 24/7.

DRAKE CAN"T MAKE MUSIC LIKE THIS
Jahbril30 1 year ago 99
@Jahbril30 Only Talib and Hi Tek can dude.
Talib been beastin' for over 13 yrs and still in the game.
Talib is the only artist who has been in my top 5 and has never gotten bumped out. Not even something I could ever CONSIDER.
Talib could stop making albums tomorrow and I'd still hold him as probably my #1 favorite MC.

This is too sick for words, and a single youtube comment nor thumbs up can do it justice.

RPM: One of the few albums actually worth buying this year.
Instant classic, from top to bottom.
This song in particular I can't stop playing.
