listen to this idiotic expert saying how the powerful Chinese live lavishly and the peasant are poor. What the fuck does he think is happening right here in the US. Stupid fucker he may be a tea-bagger. Millions of Americans are struggling to make ends meet, to send their kids to school, having no means of access to health care and he talks about wealth discrepancy in China! Amazing.

I would go with the US economy, as it's trustworthy and does not execute its people for opening private enterprise.
I feel China may experience high internal strife and possibly a revolution in the decade following the plausible euro and dollar collapse. It's becoming strongly reliant on a global economy, particularly in exports and services. Corporations will falter; millions, if not billions, of jobs will be lost. While the country certainly wishes its advancement, the world's going to hell too fast, and the "fast" is the last thing the Chinese leadership wants. That creates chaos and revolution.
@KittySN Global economy went down the shits in 2007 - 09, china grew by 30% in those 3 years. In the scenario you described of the euro and dollar coming to a total collapse is unlikely, if that were to happen the world economy would falter, china wouldn't suffer as much as rest of the world because they produce alot of what they use.
@walle1999 yes but the problem with China is their regime revolves around bullying and torturing its own. Give it a few years and they will crumble, the people are starting to come to their senses and are gradually beginning to stand up to it, not to mention business and enterprise appears to be going else where.
China's GDP per capita is less than $4,000. That means the Chinese economy produces less than $4,000 per person of products or services a year. Besides China's total GDP being much smaller than the United States', this shows that China's economy is not nearly as powerful as some seem to believe. Its growth is high enough that its total GDP could surpass the U.S. within a generation. But per capita GDP has a much longer way to go.
@FisherWebsites GDP per USD is not a good way to guage Chinese economy, when taking everything by the dollar, if a hairdresser charges 15 RMB for a haircut in China that gets recored as 2 USD for a similar service you are looking at 15 USD at least where i am living. Thus the difference, by purchasing power parity china is only about 3 trillon smaller than the US but still growing at 8 - 10% per annum. Furthermore, you need to realise RMB is pegged to USD at a lower rate of exchange.
America's criteria for success has unfortunately become an indulgence in vapid celebrity, unbridled growth of malls and superstores which somehow have become a measure of economic growth, quick fix pleasure seeking and escape. It's heroes are Kim Kardashian and Charlie Sheehan, while the Chinese bow at the feet of Stephen Hawking (whom most American youth have no clue about). The Chinese are where the Americans were 100 years ago...hungry for growth. But all growth has a curve and cycle.
Now if the Chinese could only make a fully functional broom that lasts. All you idiots that criticize Americans, we saved your ass in WWII. The very computer technologies you employ were invented in the US. You have modeled your economic/technological growth on America. with the unfortunate twist of a communist oppressive regime. You will come to see that a society is not truly advanced (in a sense) until its citizens are free. Yes we are lazy, but not oppressed. Better pray we don't wake up.
@lyue1996 In the old world, navigation, weapons, shipbuiilding, science (and scientific instruments), manufacturing, etc were advanced by England and Holland. China has been far too isolationist for its own good, until now. The very thing that you propose had stifled China 150 years ago, has become their vehicle for growth, namely the ingenuity/technologies of the west.
the peasants you are talking about are rich. Many rich Chinese look poor since they still remember the bad days and are saving. There are 150 million millionaires in China. That is roughly half the population of the US. Imagine one out of two people you meet in the US being millionaires and that is how rich they are. China's PPP already surpassed the US this year.
challenges the US. Chinese economic growth has undermined, to some extent, the need of democracy. All of a sudden, there has been economic growth without political freedom. The Westerners had thought they work hand in hand. However, the Chinese has shown that political freedom is not a pre-requisite for economic growth. Again, there is a battle of ideologies.
Third, everyone wants to be the best. The US has been super power, and all of a sudden, Americans realize that the title will be taken away. Nobody wants to lose, and the same holds true for Americans. This might be one of the reasons why Americans feel negative about China's growth. Besides, the breakdown of the USSR was a victory for the West. It was finally proved that the Western principles of democracy and freedom were superior to communism. After two decades of victory, a communist nation
So, Americans do not need to be horrified by China's growth.
Second, the issue of outsourcing has been taken as a threat. However, businesses operate to maximize their profit, and if it is economically lucrative for them to outsource jobs, they will. The jobs have been taken away. However, Americans are getting goods at very cheap price. The wages are higher in the US which adds to the cost. On the other hand, wages are significantly low in China which decreases the cost.
@MrKingsubash Yeah "goods at a cheap price" but those cheaply priced goods, come with a cost. I bought 3 inexpensive snow shovels in Home Depot "Made in China."
Each lasted through one snowstorm. I finally thought, maybe my dad was right when he said, "you get pay you pay for." So I bought a $40 snow shovel made in US. 12 some odd snow storms and still going strong.
First, the growth of China is not logically comparable to that of the US. The US is not a developing country; it is a developed country. On the other hand, China is an emerging economy, and it is booming. So, it is not astonishing that China's GDP is greater than that of the US. China, and the US did not start the economic race together. The US started it first, and I presume that the economy has utilized its resources optimally. On the contrary, China is attempting to exploit its resources.
For those of u people who don't like china ask yourself why i used to hate china but now i find it better america should never lead anything capitalism can destroy humanity i am not a hippie but capitalism is more bad than communism because lets face it democracy gets into peoples heads
@srblackbird1 I kind of disagree with you. Democracy is better then communism. In terms of corruption, everything can be corrupt. Corrupted democracy is no longer democracy. Same to communism. In America, 1% are wealthy. 99% are not. It is because US is democracy, it is because extra thing that cause trouble. Corruption may be an example. Communism strict citizens involve on government. Think. Chinese leader is no chosen by poeple. That is very dangerous.
@veracuiz yea but do you actually want to give people to choose wheather they want to learn or not it is obvious the would say no people are not fit to make decisions themeselves they are scared of the unknown people only see what benefits them they do not see what benefits their race i bet u if u ask a person i would give you 1 million dollars just to shoot this person they would do it because they do not know people are not ready to choose for themselves that's why there are govermants
@srblackbird1 However, my point of view is that democracy should be compare with socialism. And capitalism with communism. There are no wrong in capitalism. But the reason why US economy is strugglin is not because of capitalism. It is because of gernment's wrong decision. Capaitalism make people work harder. They work, and get money. But communism, no. You don't need to work hard. Why? other people will give you money! Communism make people poor.
@srblackbird1 And guess what was the mistake from US government. They were being out of track from Capitalism. Read about House price and Banks in the US. And also debt. US governments' policy toward that was totally out of trach from capitalism.
What we are seeing today is China flaunting it's grandeur, similar to Japan when it prospered during 70s, 80s. China's economy is highly dependant on world demand. So it can crash like what happened to Japan. It's going to fizz out eventually. What we are seeing today is China flaunting it's grandeur, similar to Japan when it prospered during 70s, 80s. american dreams are over. accept that fact. stop dream america. you think you stil own the world. LOL Only China can save US and Europe. Now you work for the Chinese. LOL History tells that power shift to creditors. IMF chief Christine Legarde would probably be the last non Chinese IMF Chief
It's the cycle of capitalism for the U.S.. Time will go on and several countries may surpass it and times where U.S. may be the "1st". It fluctuates over time, but just because China may have the better economy doesn't recall for people to freak out, other countries or even U.S. may go ahead of China eventually. Settle down and stop being racist, ignorant, arrogant, selfish, foolish, and closed-minded.
Anyone that really knows economics wouldn't even ask a stupid question like the one posed here. Debt has nothing to do with the actual size of an economy. It is production vs. consumption that is what defines an economy. For instance, according to the UN's 2010 report on world economies the manufacturing facet of the US economy alone produced $3.3 trillion. That is %45 larger then the whole Chinese economy. Ya. I would say that they have a while to catch up to the US.
China's making all the same mistakes as the west, though. If you factor in local government debt in China (which ballooned when they started a massive stimulus scheme when their markets in the west disappeared in 2008), their debt is 75% of GDP. They have massive quantities of unused housing and business premises. The corporate, free market model just doesn't work, whether you go for the 'pure' model as in the west, or the government-managed model as in China. We have to think again.
China drove pan-Asia rise due to trade, when Asia rise the whole world rise.
Thanks for China's low price policy make our lifes esaier ! Go China..
Specially American should appreciate the Chinese to provide affordable life. China is give money to american to buy Chinese goods by form of T Bond, also, if china does not tie to $, american be collapes long time ago
4) Chinese people are dirty and disgusting, not nearly as bad as niggers, but still dirty and disgusting (melissa lee cnbc dirty and disgusting) but they work and study very hard -- you generally see this in the u.s (although there are exceptions to every rule) as well as in China. So what you'll see in the coming years are Chinese people, highly educated and with class, able to come here for work or stay in China, unlike generations ago where they
1) If we had to pay back our $14T+ debt by the end of tonight, we'd be a 3rd world country STILL IN DEBT(?) or like monopoly would have to sell our States to countries that we owe money to
2) we have a nigger and hispanic problem. I'm not trying to be mean or sound like an asshole. These rodents leech on the economy and hispanic mothers on welfare get pregnant with their 4th rodent on the way
3) If we kicked out hispanics and niggers like Mr. Sarkozy did w/ the gypsies, we would have a fightin
I don't think these economic info are correct. Has there been independent sources to look over these figures that the chinese government is showing to the world? THINK: the great & powerful Soviet Union just before their fall.
@boeingmaniac That maybe but I still don't believe what the chinese gov is saying about its economy. Keep in mind that this is the same gov that lies about no one dying in Tiammen Square.
Also, if china's economy is doing this great, can we send all the chinese back to their homeland? I mean, if you're so proud to be chinese what the Hell are you doing living in the US, UK, France, Vietnam, Russia, etc...especially if their economy is so great?
Yes, but not in the metropolitan areas. China has plans to extend its infrastructure all the way to Xianjing and yunnan. So on the long term, I do think the chinese government will extend its wealth to the west of china.
They would also have a significant amount of agriculture to upgrade.
@fastkillmmm that is impossible. In a Democracy, the people generally choose their own Government and Americans always choose those which give them more freedom and comfort, 2 recipes for a lazy nation. I'm not saying Democracy is bad but the kind that's practiced isn't developing a hardworking nation. US badly wants foreign brains for blue and white collar jobs but the unemployment rate among the locals is ever so high!! That's unfixable.
IMF says China will pass the U.S. in 2016. The world will be much worse off for it. If they treat their own people like shit just think of how they will treat the rest of us. WAKE UP, IT IS HAPPENING. China in the the very near futue will take over as the # 1 power in the world. The next president will have to bow to China, very, very sad!
Gas prices are high due to China buying all the resources up. That is the truth.
No need for alarm. SO what if China becomes #1. For the near future it is just a stat. Qualitatively it will take a long time for China to catch up to the US.
@Fonzymazer Ohhh those evil satanist liberals and their scary pagan rituals. You think returning to the good old days of witch burnings, prohibition and segregation is a good idea?
China is a poor country. I'm chinese trust me. Most people drive BMW there. and everyone havea 3000 sq condo inside the city. How poor can they get. Most people there make more than 3000 dollar a month. Very poor.
if you go to 5:19 you will see the tech savy chinese and how their building cars there.with fist banging.......anyways........these idiots never got to the meat of it all....we are much bigger than china in gdp......bottom line.
JP Freire is in denial. I'm English and we used to nit pick when trying to explain away the successes of our economic competitors. Eventually the realisation came once the economics were overwhelming, that we were no longer the economic power of old.
The sooner Americans step up to the challenge, rather than resting on their laurels the better off they will be. Harnessing American labour more effectively would be a great start. E.g. Educating minorities like Blacks and Latinos better!
Did I hear some one complaining.... they should have a new TV program in USA .... "America got Issues".....haha... America was about opportunity... equality.... & Respect.... now America has become complaining.... sometimes it get Islamo phobia..... sometimes it get China phobia.... i mean if other people are progressing... why USA got a problem with that..... ???
What about EU? Is it safe or what? This shit for global power scares and annoys me. It's just a stupid obsession of humans to get rich. Rich and do what? You can't buy the galaxy with all those money.
@MrLol66 how?? well i get that with the freedom of speech and everything.. but does the US government go all out to educate their citizens?? do they not invest money to rural areas to build factories to put their people to work?
yea chinese government is not the best but as far as i've seen they're a little better than the US.
@joshuagoboom just think about it, if china will overtake the u.s and become the most powerful nation in the world. they gonna control the world! they will create a unfair world and specially western and u.s will suffer.
@MrLol66 how? is it fair to pay chinese labourers about a dollar a day to make your kids toys, and furnitures? where have you been when western companies enslave chinese people so they can pocket more money??
and you're just buying the western media BS that china is the devil. western nations enslave chinese people and you're the good guy and when china tries to get something done so they dont have to bow down to the US then all of the sudden china is evil.
@joshuagoboom china still relies on US being rich to keep their economy rolling because china relies on westerners buying their products to keep food on their table. so your argument about, US and the west will suffer only shows your lack of knowledge about anything going on and just believe anything mainstream media says.
china is doing what's best for their people. maybe instead of hating you should demand your government to care about you people like china does.
@joshuagoboom and yes you're gonna talk about how they have some human rights problems with freedom of speech but what i'm trying to say is the chinese government seems to care a lot more about educating and housing their people more than the western nations do about their own people.
@joshuagoboom so your telling me that the Chinese people are not unfair? that what you mean.! they dominating the world with their products and everything, you can see them anywhere working like slave. dominating world economy. Im not actually pointing at every chinese people but how thier government treat thier own people is the issue here. they are living with fear and no liberty at all. the western thing its all over,
The average American does not know a goddamn thing about how the American and Chinese economies work much less be able to compare them. That poll is worthless.
2010 dec 19 It reported China's rapid economic expansion, whether and when to go beyond US. as the world's largest economy, cause for concern. British "Economist" magazine proposed a forecasting model, estimated in 2019 that China may become a world economic leader. Goldman Sachs in 2010 predicted China will overtake the US in 2027; the British Standard Chartered Bank predicted China will 2020, surpassing US. "The Economist" points out China GDP in 2022 should surpass US.
Quick question...why does the government borrow money
when before 1913 and the founding of the deceptively named, "Federal Reserve", it just printed its' own money?
Is it because the Federal Reserve Act of 1913 put the issuance of currency into the hands of private bankers? Could the real issue be that a ultra wealthy group of money changers scammed the American people by slyly tricking congress to vote for this arrangement? Oh not only must we borrow but also pay interest?
Outsourcing happens mostly in the industrial/production sector. Since the US has already outsourced many jobs in that field, the majority of people work in the service sector. Most service sector jobs can't be outsourced for obvious reasons. That's the reason, why many people think their job is safe, because they don't work in the production sector.
@holyseraph Unfortunately, I think once China becomes democratic (it will happen), their economy will skyrocket even more. China will be the world's dominant superpower within the next 50 years.
@holyseraph The Chinese economy will pass the US in less than ten years NOT IN 50 years time like you think. The US owes China over 1 trillion and the US debts alone is over 12 trillion. Do you know what that means. Every year the US wastes its money on a war that does not exist. more americans get taxed mainly for afghanistan occupation. US isnt being taxed to develop the US but to waste on sending troops abroad meaning that the US isnt selling but rather being wasteful.
Didnt American peepal also see Japan as an economic threat back in 80s? Do you remember Japan bashing? Some American politicians hammered Japanese products in front of TV cameras. Japanese companies, therefore, were forced to build their plants in the US. Just do the same thing this time too.
@2channelgeek [[ Just do the same thing this time too. ]] China is 10 time the size of Japan. Japan needed US market back then and had no choice but to comply, but this time, it is the US that need China's market. GM for example sold more cars in China and has to build their plant in China. i don't know if you have notice it or not, it but it is China that is using this strategy against US...
US will need to use a strategy that is better suited against larger global competition.
Both of these guys are total idiots! typical IVY League rhetoric crap with total disregard for the working class American (which are BY FAR the MAJORITY!). The 2nd guy says outsourcing is no threat, because it only eliminated "LOW END" jobs like computer programming (where I have been unable to find work for 2 years now! and used to make $40hr! Is that too LOW END to worry about because jobs like these don't impact the economy. Look idiots, if the working class don't work, we don't pay our bills
We are spending $3,000 Billion on killing people around the world. China is spending $3,000 Billion on infrastructure like improved trains & schools. It is not hard not to see how in a few years China can compete head to head with the USA.
@saadasim "in a few years" ? lol yeah you wish. money is one virtual thing but the main problem in the US that's everything but virtual is that ppl there are just stupid as fuck and your government wants that. your dollars have no value, your fort knox has been empty for years. You're in the dark ages and you don't even see it.
If you think that the standard of living have been lowered in the US the past 30 years, you are deluding yourself.
Very few countries have the open entrepreneurial spirit like the US have, comparing that to the somewhat command and control economy of China is insane.
Even if China keeps growing like it is, China is still 30 years behind the US in per capita income, even if their entire economy might be larger in only 10 years.
What do you care the most about, your country, or your household?
Debts that cant be repaid, are obviously . . . not repaid.
The debt is a problem yes, but the US has a huge foreign inflow. (of wealth)
Lets just pretend that China has a huge bubble in the making, lets say its a property and realestate bubble, just for fun. Do you think people will be scared and pull money out of China?
Will China be a larger economy? yes, it likely will, will they have recessions, bank failures, scandals and civil unrest along the way?
In term of PPP, purchasing power parity, China will pass the United States within five years. Chinese will be able to buy more consumption goods both domestic and international.
@Bushiey yo america tell your jewish government and military to stop forcing south korea to do your puppet work false flag events provoking china and the north. just like iraq palestine vietnam etc. men and women need to survive here. americas/isralies government is fuckin up the planet no one else is..
Knowing how stupid Americans are, I know it has to be more than 1 in 5 who believes America is still the super power. I'll be nice and give 4.5 out of 5. America is dead. RIP USA
Greed and making money are not qualities of Human beings. Thats alien. Human beings are meant to share, love and create. Earth currently is a hell hole. You can be kind and intelligent but it will not get you anywhere cause you need to be a son of a bitch to succeed. Fuck this shit.
alot of people just dont get it. they hear that chinas economy is on the rise, and it is, but people assume that to mean they are all becoming wealthy. haha such fools will believe anything they hear on TV.... yes china is certainly growing economically, etc, but its the elite among them that are reaping it. not the average chinese citizen. many of them practically work as slave labor for wages you couldnt even consider a living in this country. rich get richer. poor get poorer. sound familiar?
China's economy in terms of real goods and services surpassed the USA a long time ago. Included in both countries' GDP numbers are financial products mostly debt but that's a much larger portion for the USA.
The USA only stays afloat because of the reserve currency status. Other countries actually have to pay to use the USD which the USA creates freely and that's how the USA collects its tax on the rest of the world. Everyone has woken up and is dumping the USD.
the interviewer is kind of annoying. China itself practices protectionist policies. First she asks how do we compete with china and then she asks why do people think that protectionism is a good thing? lmfao. Exports are what make China rich. US has the potential to be a major exporting nation like it once was, and that's where protectionism has to come in.
american jewish government cannot blame china for anything. China worked hard honestly for their money, while the american jewish illuminati government works very hard at going to war to make money. but the american government wants china to pay for americas wars and the jewish banker politicians just keep the loot. China didn't want these wars. who are the only ones in this world using nukes? invading almost every country? killing millions.. don't be stupid people
the grass is always greener on the other side. A similar survey said most chinese (60 something percent) believed that the US was more technologically advanced and progressive than China.
J.P. Freire doesn't know facts. Standards of living and wages have both stagnated in the United States since the 1970s. This affects the lower 99% of the population. The top 1% has seen the exact opposite, a booming time period where their power and wealth has been elevated beyond extremes.
@youngbuck189 Not to mention that wall street is not contributing to society. US financial institutions have absolutely no function except funneling cash up to the 1%. The fact that its stagnating is automation of processes and out-sourcing work to other countries. Anyway, the US propaganda machine has now turned to attack China, this will most likely soon be shown with polls "US hostility towards China is increased". Fear is an effective way of conformity to the status-quo.
@youngbuck189 wages have been down for MORE THAN 30 years but they HAVE GIVEN US CREDIT TO FEEL THAT WE CAN LIVE COMFORTABLY AND BE DUMB LIVING ON CREDIT
the thing is back then, china and europe were already both strongest but china didn't feel the need to go around and imperalize

moopy239 2 months ago
First, the growth of China is not logically comparable to that of the US. The US is not a developing country; it is a developed country. On the other hand, China is an emerging economy, and it is booming. So, it is not astonishing that China's GDP is greater than that of the US. China, and the US did not start the economic race together. The US started it first, and I presume that the economy has utilized its resources optimally. On the contrary, China is attempting to exploit its resources.

For those of u people who don't like china ask yourself why i used to hate china but now i find it better america should never lead anything capitalism can destroy humanity i am not a hippie but capitalism is more bad than communism because lets face it democracy gets into peoples heads
srblackbird1 4 months ago
@srblackbird1 I kind of disagree with you. Democracy is better then communism. In terms of corruption, everything can be corrupt. Corrupted democracy is no longer democracy. Same to communism. In America, 1% are wealthy. 99% are not. It is because US is democracy, it is because extra thing that cause trouble. Corruption may be an example. Communism strict citizens involve on government. Think. Chinese leader is no chosen by poeple. That is very dangerous.
veracuiz 4 months ago
@veracuiz yea but do you actually want to give people to choose wheather they want to learn or not it is obvious the would say no people are not fit to make decisions themeselves they are scared of the unknown people only see what benefits them they do not see what benefits their race i bet u if u ask a person i would give you 1 million dollars just to shoot this person they would do it because they do not know people are not ready to choose for themselves that's why there are govermants
srblackbird1 4 months ago
@srblackbird1 However, my point of view is that democracy should be compare with socialism. And capitalism with communism. There are no wrong in capitalism. But the reason why US economy is strugglin is not because of capitalism. It is because of gernment's wrong decision. Capaitalism make people work harder. They work, and get money. But communism, no. You don't need to work hard. Why? other people will give you money! Communism make people poor.
veracuiz 4 months ago
@srblackbird1 And guess what was the mistake from US government. They were being out of track from Capitalism. Read about House price and Banks in the US. And also debt. US governments' policy toward that was totally out of trach from capitalism.

Specopleader 6 months ago
Anyone that really knows economics wouldn't even ask a stupid question like the one posed here. Debt has nothing to do with the actual size of an economy. It is production vs. consumption that is what defines an economy. For instance, according to the UN's 2010 report on world economies the manufacturing facet of the US economy alone produced $3.3 trillion. That is %45 larger then the whole Chinese economy. Ya. I would say that they have a while to catch up to the US.
thefreeman8791 7 months ago
China's making all the same mistakes as the west, though. If you factor in local government debt in China (which ballooned when they started a massive stimulus scheme when their markets in the west disappeared in 2008), their debt is 75% of GDP. They have massive quantities of unused housing and business premises. The corporate, free market model just doesn't work, whether you go for the 'pure' model as in the west, or the government-managed model as in China. We have to think again.

The sooner Americans step up to the challenge, rather than resting on their laurels the better off they will be. Harnessing American labour more effectively would be a great start. E.g. Educating minorities like Blacks and Latinos better!

2channelgeek 1 year ago
@2channelgeek [[ Just do the same thing this time too. ]] China is 10 time the size of Japan. Japan needed US market back then and had no choice but to comply, but this time, it is the US that need China's market. GM for example sold more cars in China and has to build their plant in China. i don't know if you have notice it or not, it but it is China that is using this strategy against US...
US will need to use a strategy that is better suited against larger global competition.

J.P. Freire doesn't know facts. Standards of living and wages have both stagnated in the United States since the 1970s. This affects the lower 99% of the population. The top 1% has seen the exact opposite, a booming time period where their power and wealth has been elevated beyond extremes.
Socialism for the Rich: Neo-Liberal economics
youngbuck189 1 year ago 34
@youngbuck189 Not to mention that wall street is not contributing to society. US financial institutions have absolutely no function except funneling cash up to the 1%. The fact that its stagnating is automation of processes and out-sourcing work to other countries. Anyway, the US propaganda machine has now turned to attack China, this will most likely soon be shown with polls "US hostility towards China is increased".
