Wow, Hummingbirds are so cool! I've never seen one in real life (I don't think they exist here anyway), and I love how they just stand in middle air!

Also, they look like they have no bones; look at the wings while they stand in mid air, they look like rubber or something :)

They are indeed very cool little birds. The bending wing effect is actually a trick of the camera's scan rate.. The 300fps slow motion videos (will be in the next few uploads) show them more like they really are (only much slower!) :-)

It's interesting that the baby hummers don't have long beaks - they grow them just before they leave the nest. One of my slow motion HB vids (I forget which one) has a annotaion link to a friends' hummer vid that shows them.
