  • What a great shot.

  • I think this is a submarine with a strange building on top..

  • NICE BOAT!

  • Wow. That thing is moving so fast for how rough the conditions are!

  • :o #meu DEUS

  • It's fantastic! The Ship fly in the Water! Congrulations to Captain!

  • that ship is what i want for christmas lol

  • What ever happened to the other videos posted of this ship. There was one inparticular that showed a rescue in heavy seas with the crew of the floundering ship waiting on the bow to be taken off. I never saw anything like it before.

  • respect egalement

  • nice boat

  • magnifico espetacular

  • respect pour ces marin

  • Zero gravity for 3 seconds every 3 seconds.

  • nice hull, this vessels are made to go in that rough seas, but i think its more comfortable to have the superstructure at the stern on the ship, btw nice photos

  • Abeille Fandre has retired now she has been replaced by the Abeille Bourbon and Abeille Liberte!! She is now in La Havre i think

  • Love to get permission to download this?

  • tie yourself to the front of the boat there, that would be quite a thrill!!

  • @mojodevirus hell yeah.

    did ya see it jump...

  • The best!!!

  • Stefan guck nicht so doof...

  • wow! i worked aboard containerships in worldwide services 20 years ago. no matter where we have been, winter northatlantic heading for new york or in the southern ocean on the way to australia... i always felt like staying on an island. so i never was seasick ... i loved always bad weather, but we never had such movement. i am sure i would get sick on this ship here in the video :))) i love to watch this!!!!

  • amazing

  • these are the heroes of the sea, they have saved ships and souls from the most terrifying tempests near the ouessant island and along the northwestern french coast. when everyone is at home and the wind is over 60 mph they set sails to avoid shipwrecks and disasters along that coast. I would be proud to be the last member of that crew!

  • I would be so f*cking scared!

  • excellent vid and superb flying as well

  • Cool!

  • this is poetry!

  • God, how that takes me back to when I was at sea. Luv it!

  • lol

  • Very nice shooting I wish I had a helicopter when I shot mine;-)

  • .. reread that and to clarify - my comment isn't meant to undermine the countless vessels she's salvaged or sailors she's saved...

  • this vessel's Trim & Stability Booklet should probably read something to the effect of 6 heavy slammings per 100 pitching motions being considered "dangerous"

the master here doesn't seem to be interested in altering course or speed to mitigate the danger..

still, one of my favorite videos.

  • Because he doesn't need to!!!!

  • que miedo.. :S xD

  • houston, we have a lift off..

  • ooh la la!!!

  • ooooh fromage!

  • Awsome ship built like a real boat

  • We're gonna need a bigger boat.

  • weeeew..ayos!

  • and this is why i will NEVER go on a boat

  • Outstanding! I wish it was a much longer film, it's not often I would say that.

  • goodness!

  • flandre scarlet: destuctive power sister to the scarlet devil locked away in the cellar and has a boat named after her

  • i have created a blockage in the tubes

  • With nearly 13000 hp.....

    Its replacement has 22000 !

  • thats a mighty good camera being used, what amazing clarity

  • wow!! @ one stage it was pratically airborne.

  • Yup

  • I would love to be on that boat there, I think about the sounds and motion when I cant sleep.

  • fantastic shot!

  • dude. eff that.

  • Some of the vitals on this mighty little ship might be of interest. Displacement is 2,220 tons. She's 208 feet long, 48 feet wide, and draws 23 feet. She's got four diesels pumping out a total of 3,150 hp. Top speed is 17 knots. (Got this info from a brochure I picked up in Brest.)

Suffice it to say that that area is brutal to navigate in. The waves aren't abnormally high, but they're very closely spaced. Almost impossible conditions for normal boats to operate in.

  • I saw this video at the Maritime Museum in La Rochelle

  • Comment removed

  • And you think it's bad driving a car ( Seaworthy48 ) Captain

  • Beautyfull!!!

  • i got seasick just watching that. Great video!

  • Great video! Just wish there was more of it! Thanks!

  • Reminds me of a ballet dancer. She takes those waves with poise and grace.

  • Great video, thanks for sharing!

  • THAT GREAT.

  • "In the last 25 years, the Abeille Flandre tug and its crew have helped to prevent 16 disasters on a scale similar to that of the Amoco Cadiz disaster (4 million tonnes of oil), salvaged 214 vessels, assisted 7,200 sailors and prevented the certain death of a further 150 sailors."

From one of the company web sites Burbon-online (dot) com.

  • Increadible footage!

This reminds me of Farley Mowat's 'Grey Seas Under', the story of the deep sea rescue tug Foundation Frankin in the pre-WWII era, fantastic book.

  • looks like fun. a lot of speed though for that size ship. imagine trying to sleep during that xD zero gravity sleeping x)

  • She has far more power than that gentlemen. I believe she is a four engine vessel with approx 20000 hp. She was formerly a deep sea salvage and rescue operation tug, under contract to the French Navy. She is capable of speeds around 18-20 knots I belive.

  • Yeah, I would be Shocked if that boat had less than 15K hp. And, for an off shore salvage tug like that one, there really is no such thing as "more power than you need" Boats like this prevent HUGE environmental disasters by towing disabled ships in ANY weather.

  • This ship and her sister were R-R deep sea tugs (UT 507's built '78-'79 (Norway, leased to the French navy)& still working, these ships have 23,000hp)now replaced by two new Rolls-Royce designed ships ( UT 515 designs)now also on consignment to the French navy for costal protection, they are rated 19.8knots@16,000kw with 200+tonnes of pull at the bollards. Amazing vessels all!

  • The UT 507 here can pull 160tons sustained at the bollard, 175tons for a short time. Until the 515 came along she was the largest tug in Europe.

  • Correction: 2000-2500+

  • that sounds about right. a lot more power then it really needs.

  • That thing is packing at least 1500-2000hp diesels

  • 13 000 hp.

  • @sebastien29200 Abeille Bourbon 21 740 hp.

  • That's tow boating!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Super film.....thank you!!

  • jesus , it dives into water almost half it's lenght ...

this is breathtaking and scary just to watch...

but i'm still gonna watch the related videos :)

  • Holy SH1T that is some boat!!!
