Haha that looks like so much fun. I haven't seen a video by an agent before, so it was exciting to see it from your point of view. I would love to be involved in a mission some day =P thanks for your video.
Getty Center Los Angeles, California. The LA landscape sometimes mimics some parts of Mexico. It is technically a desert if not for the urbanization and California Aqueduct that brings water in from the Colorado.
At 16:05 it sounds that as if somebody said in spanish, "parece que estan borachos", which means "it appears that they're drunk". Love this video, however, it would have been interestingly nice if suddenly they would've darted and ran aimlessly and then have them freeze for a about 5 minutes.
Basically, everyone was planted in different parts of the museum campus. Then as the line started, the people joined the line. Then we had a 130+ person line snaking its way around in and out of buildings. Imagine the people holding the doors lol. And then just as we came, we dispersed and left.
Bloggers have been commenting it as art and poetry in motion rather than pranking. The Improv Everywhere concept is more about happenstance public performance in that way than the other.
why was there someone that kept cheering? I liked how you were like the only person I heard say Thank You when that person held the door open for you :)
Ha. It was follow the leader, so there was a "whoop!" copycatting down the line, then we put out arms out linke airplanes or a bit, and then hi fived a little tyke that had his hand out, and then we did clap loudly at the band when they finished their song. Cheering's very possible throughout, remember what the timecode was? I can more easily identify it that way. Cheering was inevitable an spontaneous because it was really all the fun we could have in a group of strangers like that.
haha great stuff i wanna be a part of that when i get older. I'm gonna live in that area anyway because i want to be a Film director when i grow up haha and u could be in one of my movies! lol
it was a lot of fun that is for sure. I didn't mean to make it sound like it was horrible. I am just anxiously awaiting the video to be released of what it looked like from the camera crew there to film us.
Me too. I'm anxious too. But it will be at least a few weeks for an official video to come out. This is here to hopefully tide people over until then.
Because we all know we'll get nostalgic in two weeks and want to do something again like this.
It was also put up fast because I knew that so many people wanted to be there but couldn't and this is for them. Their POV. If they had been here. People's reactions were important to capture. Hence the quick movements to get their faces in frame.
Raw footage of an Improv Everywhere event in LA. :) The instructions were to travel in one big single file line, then end up in one big spiral and then disperse quickly.
YES WE GET IT! the freeway has traffic and the side roads dont.

I uploaded the one from this year. Newer camera equipment and experience made it the best camerawork of the bunch.

ohh okay. I guess it was just hard to tell what was going on because of the filming.
Yeah I totally look at ImprovEverwhere as art. Especially the spontaneous food court musical. I love that one! And the Home Depot one...

How many people participated in this mission?
If I were there, I would totally get into the back of the line and follow along!
Lamzilla 3 years ago
I think there were hundreds by the time the line all got together. I'm sure the answer's in the forums.

This is the place to be! :) You have great creative vision in our videos and it would be an honor anytime now and in the future.

WOW!!!
that was a really interesting video.
We enjoyed watching it.
We liked how you had to take a train to the destination.
That happens often in Japan.
There is a train in Tokyo airport.
You have to take it to get to your plane.
We want to go to LA one day!
teddyinjapan 4 years ago
Thanks guys! I've never been to Japan. Just Hong Kong. Yeah, it was pretty cool. You'll make it here someday. I'm pretty sure of it. :)
ACTORDAVIDTRAN 4 years ago
It was fun to be part of that, but you need to slow down your camera some. You turn the camera so fast that everything blurs.

Noted. There was so much wonderment and amusement to capture. :)

Can you believe they made me coat check my tripod? Gah! Otherwise I could have used it to steady shots.

Very interesting project, D! I'll bet you had fun being a part of that. Thanks for filming and sharing.

Thanks Dance C! Ever seen any of the other Improv Group's videos? They're worth a see. Like Grand Central Station.
