  • I would've if I could've.

  • jim gordon.. of.. derek & the dominos and delaney & bonnie.. on drums

  • Great rendition of "Johnny B Goode".. love the funky beat instead of the usual rock one.. It gives the tune new life and variety.. Fantastic.. The entirety is just TERRIFIC, thanks for posting !!

  • What is this song called?

  • @skimmerkimmer My Own Way To Rock

  • Oh God, I love this man!

  • Oh my, so handsome!!! Love Burton Cummings!

  • What a great voice. Love to listen to him sing. Wish I could see him in person.

  • Ditto to frostbitten. He is the real deal. No one can copy him.

  • awesome!

  • When I watch and listen to this gem, I can't help but be amazed that when Laurel Masse' and Janis Seigel join in on the second verse of "Johnny be good" is just so perfectly, I mean perfectly in tune with the piano. Incredible!

Whenever I watch this vid, I want to grab Laurel and just hug her and hug her; just makes me happy!

  • is possible to buy this dvd complete?:

Oct 3, 1977 - Burton Cummings in concert with guests Randy Bachman and the Manhattan Transfer. (60 min.) Songs: "Never Had a Lady Before," "Your Back Yard," "My Own Way to Rock," "Undun," "I'm Scared," "Stand Tall" (Burton); "My Wheels Won't Turn," "Takin' Care of Business" (Randy); "Come On By" (Burton, Randy); "Chanson d'Amour," "Gloria," "Operator" (Manhattan Transfer); "Goin' to Chicago," "Four Brothers" (Burton, Manhattan Transfer); "Johnny B.Goode"

  • Burton has the voice, Canadian rock & roll will rock your ass off

  • Hey this is great! What kind of Fender is Randy playing?

  • @toploadertele the first was no fender. The second was a "thinline Telecaster"

  • Was going pretty damn good (Cummings is fucking amazing here!) until Bachman started up with that lame-o song of his that we've all heard thousands of times! The only BTO song I ever liked was that jazzy number "Lookin' Out For #1". The guitar play on that tune is brilliant!

  • I just found a TV archives web site, & found out that this was performed on October 3, 1977. Since he was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on December 31, 1947, he was 29 years old when he performed this concert.

  • I just LOVE this video, and I play it all the time. Burton Cummings' talent showed at such a young age. Just think of all of the contributions he has made to music. I get amazed at how he orchestrated this whole medley. WOW!

  • Excelente!!!!

  • Burton Cummings has one of the best voices in Rock history. At least I think so. I did get to see him in KC. He opened for Alice Cooper. NO! I'M NOT KIDDING!

  • Unlike many rock band lead singers, Burton could actually sing! Randy, not so much! Sorry Randy. But when it comes to picking that axe... well, that is a different story!!

  • Burton, Randy, the Guess Who ... they never made a song that wasn't good!!

    And still going strong....

  • no better singers than Burton Cummings and Janis Siegel (Manhattan Transfer); great video.

  • Great video:) I five starred it and am your lifetime friend and subsciber.

    be happy NOW

  • Jeez! I sure wish I had this vid or CD. Just great. Laura Masse' is just so adorable, and Burton and Randy are simply singular.

  • Burton Cummings, one of the best voices anywhere.........bar none!!!

Randy Bachman, also one of the best guitar players anywhere, bar none!!

Cummings and Bachman were Canada's answer to Lennon/McCartney!!

  • Definitely. If there's any band I like at least as much as the Beatles, it's the Guess Who. Cummings is one of the finest lead vocalists the world has ever seen.

  • I listened to some tracks from his latest album, "Above The Ground." What boggles my mind is that at age 61 he's still as good as he was in 1970.

  • @frostbittencanadian i agree, the guess who. burton, the best, this ismy fave group from my teen yrs.......late 60s early 70s

  • @frostbittencanadian maybe by canadian standards that must be very low,to compare this to Lennon-McCartney,are you stupid or having a brain freeze from the cold of canada, yes they were good but you are disturbed.

  • @JJMFB1 Actually, i remarked that they were Canada's answer to

Lennon and McCartney, and did not compare them to the Beatles.

the Beatles were, and always have been, the premier band in the world,

All things considered, Canada....the land of "brain freeze", has produced

some outstanding musicians......the Guess Who, Gordon Lightfoot,

Neil Young, RUSH, Triumph, BTO, just to name a few!! Go ahead my

american friend, the ball's in your court..........

  • @JJMFB1 they were better than good - mostly because of Burton, and all Canadians are a bit disturbed; that's why we have such great senses of humour and such awesome musicians - but none are better than Burton Cummings (and I'm saying the best in the world, ever)! He's still putting out new songs - so there :)

  • Your right, fellow Canadian, I agree, Im from Winnipeg, Manitoba

  • I love you Burton you are the best male singer EVER XOXOXO .Jamie

  • What a bunch of great musicians! From a time when they actually wrote, composed, played and sang their music. The Guess Who played during the greatest period of rock and roll, they were one of the many great bands. And what great vocals from the Manhattan Transfer. I was so lucky to see both of these groups in the 1970's.

  • Burton is one of our national treasures. What a voice.

  • fantastic

  • Badd ass

  • Super beaux souvenirs!

  • I Have watched this at least 50 times, if not more. Just love the piano rift at the very end. Enjoy it more often!

    Joe

  • I have only viewed this about 50 times, anybody viewed it more?

  • WOW! Still needing the dribble bib! He's 10 yrs older than me....And he is still a hottie! Thank God for older siblings who blasted their music every opportunity that came along! Whoah yeah! They still are tops in my chart of much loved music!

  • you have to listen one song of burton cummings called: heavenly blue.....

    amazing

  • just listened to heavenly blue. love it

  • Did he use to sing for the Guess Who? Looks just like the guy.

  • yes

  • Simply great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • What happened to "Come on by" (the Seeger

song from My own way to Rock) that was on

    here?

  • I was wondering the same thing. From 'Soundstage", 1978. Is it possible for someone to put it back up?

    Thanx!!

  • Yes man, that is Jim Gordon on drums. He toured around with Burton in the late 70s. I actually stumbled upon this video looking for footage of Jim Gordon which needless to say would be kind of hard to find if you don't know what your doing.

  • Cummings and Tom Johnston do look

similar at times, both great talents too.

  • heart heart W

  • i do think Burton has the most amazing voice from all the bands of the late 60s early 70s , and still, has always been my fave,

  • Geez! He almost looks like "The Doobies" Tom Johnston.

  • Wow! This was such a treat to see. Thank you so much for posting it! :O)

  • is that jim gordon on drums ???

  • Burton is one fine man!!

  • oh yes he is lol

  • Yes, everyone did their part, but Burton is the most noticeable.

  • this is an amazing performance by everyone, not just burton, the whole group is just amaazing

  • Great video. Thank you! Burton is just a beautiful, beautiful man. And he is a wonderful entertainer. No other singer ever looked so good sitting at a piano.

  • Burton has had more Kitty, then a animal shelter....

  • I love the fact that this was live, no pre recorded tracks. Not enough people in the lower 48 realize just how great Randy and Burton are. It is good to see them working together, touring and recording. Check out Jukebox, that is a fun listen.

  • they are soo damn good, i just saw them in detroit, they are perfect

  • I got to see them in Atlantic City in 2006, and they were perfect then too. I am going to see Randy in Virginia, and then in New Jersey in early July. Don't miss Randy on the Late Show (Letterman) on July 1. (Canada Day)

  • It was a shame the theater wasn't more full. The guys ROCKED. Anyone that wants to see the REAL talent behind the Guess Who, THIS is the act you need to see. You get Guess Who hits, Burton Cummings hits, BTO hits, and Bachman-Cummings hits. 4 acts for the price of 1!!

  • Meh, Burton is where its at, care less for Bachman

  • wow this is really good, although i didn't care much for the johnny b goode, but in all wow all those guys sounded friggin great! peace love and happiness

     jimmy

  • I love Burton but Randy should get some credit in the title here!

  • awesome! greatest voice of rock n roll

  • its funny because i feel like burton has never not been in his prime

  • This is a great piece - thanks a ton!

  • Thanks so much for posting this video -- Burton in his prime -- fabulous! Do you have any other videos from this show that you can share with us? Thanks again!!
