Actually the ten finger choke is done while both fighters are standing up also is known as ten finger guillotine, this is called a peruvian necktie (I'm actually peruvian, no pun intended) but mark is great i've seen a couple of his videos and now I can perform a beautiful crucifix and a pretty nice spine lock, greetings from Perú.
@putyourweedup He is wrong, nobody is perfect, ten finger choke is a trachea choke where your hands are cupped on the opponents chin, fyi I'm not wrong
@TNA796. C.B. Dollaway did pull off a Peruvian Necktie , but it wasn't against Amir Sadollah . It was against some dude named Jesse sumth'n? !!! C.B. Dollaway lost to Amir Sadollah by armbar !!!!
Jiu-jitsu is for street fight! Self defense! If develop the habit of turning your back like that in the so called turtle position you will do it on a real fight. Just like the judo guys that got beat up by the Gracies. Jiu-jitsu Tournaments are a bastardized version of Helio Gracie's Jiu-jitsu.
Jiu was around before Gracies dude... I'm getting sick of people worshipping the ground he walked on.
was he great at what he did yea... was he anymore more that an inovator no...
elbows ot the spine would be good if it was a street brawl... thing is in a street brawl your also much less likely to be strickly one on one so submitions in general lose some inportance...
Ffor anyone not thinking of street fights, you come off as a cheap bastard.
Choking is the best way to finish a fight! The point I tryied to make was that the guy on the bottom should'nt turn his back like that. At these Jiu-jitsu tournaments people turn their backs all the time. The "10 finger choke" is a good punishiment it can be used on the street as well! Clearly you don't know the contribution that Grand Master Helio did to the world of martial arts. Jiu-jitsu was there before. He just perfected it. To his Jiu-jitsu there are no rules. Just efficiency.
Speaking of classical youtube confusion...why is it that when someone speaks to the effectiveness off BJJ or JJ theres always some douche bag that comes along talking about the "multiple attacker" scenerio?
Write this down somewhere...
unless you have a pistol or a knife...you are at a severe disadvatage in a multiple attacker scenerio no matter what art you train. as far as 1 on 1 combat.. BJJ > any other art, and has been proven time and time again in MMA or street combat.
I didn't say BBJ was not effective... heck even in multiple attacker situations, the ablility to control someone and send them to the ground or use position to move them is useful
yeah... but I didn't say submitions are pointless against multiple attackers... it's just that it's unlikely to be able to hold someone long enough to break something or choke them out.

Did this so many times, before my trainer got pissed cause it's to dangerous to do it sometimes on practise. Awesome feeling when you pull it.

the PERVIAN NECKTIE is originally a wrestling move. dave shultz was pinning people with it in the 80s then tony desouza made it famous in jiu jitsu.

Or you could just elbow to the spine, put the hooks and mata-leao. "Never turn your back" Helio Gracie.

Ok I think we are in the middle of a classic youtube confusion.
1. Yea I agree I love chokes, doesn't matter how much of a punch, a dude can take... put him in a choke and it doesn't really matter anymore.
2. efficiency is key, and Jiu-jitsu has come a long way.Point scoring in Karate is a example of how a bad system leads to bad fighters.
3. I'm not saying it can't be used on the street, jus that a lot of street fight can be 2 on 1 and chokes are less effective in that siutation.
