If you want to know where the Loading Bay is, all you have to do is check the map. And the reason the path isn't shown is the fact that it is a bit of a puzzle game. Your Batman, the worlds greatest detective, it's not that difficult. Do you complain at Portal because you have to work out what to do in each chamber ?
I need to play this game again. The onlythig that pissed me off was where to go at times. I would get stuck and couldn't find an obvious route or just get stuck in a building and can't really find a way out or how to get to other areas by using your gadgets. I think if I spent more time with this game and figure everything out then I think it would be a dope game. But honestly I would prefer revelations but this is a dope game too.

Combat is my favorite part, are you kidding it gets pretty complicated when you have 20 goons, 5 with riot shields, 3 with body Armour and a titan goon, and that's not exactly rare.
Well you can play on hardest difficulty and with new game+, new game+ removes all the tutorials and it doesn't show when you should counter, it also makes your enemies a lot tougher.
Sorry man but judging by the demonstration, you are pretty bad at the combat. It won't be as fun if you go in just thinking you "spam" the melee button. The combat is kept simple in mechanics because of how fast and agile batman moves, otherwise the average player would just make it look messy. It's deeper then people think with instant take downs and other special moves and just has a cooler feel as you continue to maintain a combo counter higher then 5...
The combat is as deep as you want it to be. It's extremely hard to get good combos and on Hard mode the combat is insane. New Game Plus is even harder, (this is a mode you get to play when you've finished the story once) I don't think this guy has looked into it that much. If you want the combat to be challenging UP THE DIFFICULTY, IT'S WHAT IT'S THERE FOR. Dumbass.
The combat is really, really good. What the hell is this guys problem? I think he was just a bit sore because he sucks at Batman AC. It's an awesome, brilliant game, a MUST BUY if you're any type of Batman fan. If you're not, it still is epic and engaging.
i agree completely about the simplistic combat system. Although it looks very fancy, some of the satisfaction of beating up the thugs is taken away by the fact that you only have to smack 1 button repeatedly.(oh yeah, and occasionally press triangle when prompted....)

I think the combat is easily the most enjoyable things about the game. It's simplistic to a degree, but it's still better than most other melee combat in games. Games like God of War are just mostly about hammering the attack button over and over again, interspersed with the odd heavy attack. It gets rote after a while. The Batman games at least do something different, and it's more enjoyable.
The combat, I think, is fantastic. Batman is all about skillfull combat and fighting. When you complicate that with button mashing combos and upgradeable fight styles, it takes away from it. There are that many things going on for the game, so for a simple and effective yet still challenging combat gameplay I think it works well. No fuss, no button mash, just tap the button and point Bats where you want asses to be kicked. Suits Batman perfectly. Smooth, Free Flowing and brutal. No complications
Pretty sure I'm going to be fapping to Talia al Ghul's DSL's and Catwoman's ass at some point when I get this game.. I might even rub one out to the nurse too.

@AngelGamebriel All of the combos are done with pretty much one button. The gadgets are there to add SOME variety, but really they aren't even necessary once you're in a fist fight. The combat system doesn't allow you to engage in combat how you think is best, but instead forces you to do specific "combos" against certain enemy types. God of War is probably the deepest combat system in this realm. Arkham City is very guided and straight forward. That was my problem with it.
@EndlessM1ke multiple ground-finisher (a+b), combo batarang (LT - up to three times), batclaw (LT+y), batclaw slam (LT+y,x), explosive gel (LT+ - then again to detonate), REC (LT+b), freeze bomb (RT,RT). I think thats everything. Plus, there are special, circumstancial moves such as the blade dodge/blade dodge takedown, the batclaw disarm, the REC sends armored-opponents flying and causes armed enemies to fire their weapons involuntarily. These moves change, even for Catwoman and Robin...
@EndlessM1ke Finally, I think that it is so impressive how many animations there are for the strikes, counters, multi-counters and special takedowns that each fight looks different and the only repetitive part of the game is that you are always looking extremely cool!!!

I played a bit today and I couldn't figure out how to get back to Joker for probably 15-20 minutes and Batman continued to say "I should head back to the loading bay...." Pain in the ass.
too bad scarecrow never returned from his unknown fate in the first game. bein dragged under water by killer croc, but seein no blood or limbs float to the surface. his fate is still unknown.
Finished this game earlier and I have to say I really enjoyed Arkham City although I found the story too short. Also I agree some missions really got fustrating on where abouts you had to go to progress, anyway I enjoyed your review!
The whole point is to find your way this is not just an action game its also mystery your supposed to run around finding your way and It is till very straight forward on the main story but sometimes you need a different perspective to get where you need to go
All this game needed was a longer story. other than that this game lived up to my expectations (: Robin is BEAST in the challenge maps! i always pick him! =D

@ClevverGames regarding combat, you do realise besides counter and melee, that you can use all 3 of your quick gadgets in fights right from the beggining of the game. The counter attacks flow MUCH more smooth into the combos than they did in asylum. in asylum counters would constantly get intterupted and not work in mid combo.. here its fixed. also you learn most of your combat skills within the first 30 minutes of the game, where theyre tutor on tons and tons of other stuff as well.
@bobblesworth Also find myself getting lost A LOT without much direction. Like when when the penguin looks you in the muesem room after you defeat his recruits.. took me a good 5 minutes to find the stupid button. I'd played around with the radio controll batarang for a lot of the riddler challenges before this though so using that gadget sucessfuly at this point wasn't a big deal. Anyway as far as the getting lost thing, It is a detective game afterall. Solving the puzzles feels very rewarding
@ClevverGames actually he's not the first reviewer to complain about combat system. other reviews have said its actually too complicated for them. The devs actually listened to the players this go round and tried to improve on the combat in every way. And I feel they did this very well. Either people want the combat to be a simple button mash like devil may cry or gods of war or all that crap, or they want it to be as complex as virtua fighter 5. I think they found a good balance in this one.
@bobblesworth @bobblesworth Have you played DMC? It is clearly not a button masher. I would argue the same for the GOW series, but only on the unlockable difficulties.
@bobblesworth actually finsished the game a week or so ago and did new game plus... and the game itself discredited the entire reviews basis. If you include new game plus into the factor the game is inasnely more attentive to your actions/reactions. I enjoy reviews from angry joe and folks taht put the time into a review. I would just appriciate if they actually PLAYED the thing. joe sucks when it comes to mmo's because u cant review them in a week, and this guy sucks b/c u cant rev in a week!

The reviewer did not know how to play Batman AC, I found my way one way or anyother, and I never got mad when I didnt know where to go. and THE COMBAT IS FREAKING AWESOME! My opinion based on the gameplay in the review, he sucks at combat.
@marvelgeek24 To be honest, I wasn't great at the combat starting out, but since this gameplay I've learned the combat a lot better and my opinion is still the same. Yes you get a few more special moves, but it's pretty much all based around the melee button, with just a few added take downs and stunning abilities. As far as the not knowing where to go, it didn't bother me THAT much. Was poking fun more than anything, though I did lose my way a couple times.

The combat system may be simplistic, but it's challenging. There's so much satisfaction in combining your attacks. You can mix it up by throwing batarangs and using your grappling hook. Arkham Asylum was greatly praised for it's combat system and the fans of the original game didn't want it to change, which is why they kept it. They would be crazy to change it. It's one of the things I feel (and many others feel) that they nailed on the head. It makes the arcade mode what it is.
@ClevverGames That's fair enough. I just thought I would express my opinion to let people know that a lot of people do like the combat system. I think it's important to new players who haven't experienced the Batman Arkham series because they should definitely check it out. They're a great set of games.
@aidenmccloskey I agree! The combat is fine too. I just like to be 100% honest in reviews and that was how I felt. Doesn't ruin the game even if you don't like it anyway because it's so minor compared to all of the stuff that Arkham does right.
There's absolutely nothing complicated about the combat system.

I played a bit today and I couldn't figure out how to get back to Joker for probably 15-20 minutes and Batman continued to say "I should head back to the loading bay...." Pain in the ass.

too bad scarecrow never returned from his unknown fate in the first game. bein dragged under water by killer croc, but seein no blood or limbs float to the surface. his fate is still unknown.

Finished this game earlier and I have to say I really enjoyed Arkham City although I found the story too short. Also I agree some missions really got fustrating on where abouts you had to go to progress, anyway I enjoyed your review!

The whole point is to find your way this is not just an action game its also mystery your supposed to run around finding your way and It is till very straight forward on the main story but sometimes you need a different perspective to get where you need to go

@ClevverGames regarding combat, you do realise besides counter and melee, that you can use all 3 of your quick gadgets in fights right from the beggining of the game. The counter attacks flow MUCH more smooth into the combos than they did in asylum. in asylum counters would constantly get intterupted and not work in mid combo.. here its fixed. also you learn most of your combat skills within the first 30 minutes of the game, where theyre tutor on tons and tons of other stuff as well.

@bobblesworth Also find myself getting lost A LOT without much direction. Like when when the penguin looks you in the muesem room after you defeat his recruits.. took me a good 5 minutes to find the stupid button. I'd played around with the radio controll batarang for a lot of the riddler challenges before this though so using that gadget sucessfuly at this point wasn't a big deal. Anyway as far as the getting lost thing, It is a detective game afterall. Solving the puzzles feels very rewarding

@ClevverGames actually he's not the first reviewer to complain about combat system. other reviews have said its actually too complicated for them. The devs actually listened to the players this go round and tried to improve on the combat in every way. And I feel they did this very well. Either people want the combat to be a simple button mash like devil may cry or gods of war or all that crap, or they want it to be as complex as virtua fighter 5. I think they found a good balance in this one.

@bobblesworth actually finsished the game a week or so ago and did new game plus... and the game itself discredited the entire reviews basis. If you include new game plus into the factor the game is inasnely more attentive to your actions/reactions. I enjoy reviews from angry joe and folks taht put the time into a review. I would just appriciate if they actually PLAYED the thing. joe sucks when it comes to mmo's because u cant review them in a week, and this guy sucks b/c u cant rev in a week!

@ClevverGames i think its a 9 and a half for me because although it is hard to navigate through arkham its kinda what batman faced although you and him had a rough idea and there is a map in the pause thingy. but i tottaly agree with the fighting thing but im not sure how they can make it better and batman shouldnt take so long to beat up a bunch of thugs mybe they should make it faster.

The reviewer did not know how to play Batman AC, I found my way one way or anyother, and I never got mad when I didnt know where to go. and THE COMBAT IS FREAKING AWESOME! My opinion based on the gameplay in the review, he sucks at combat.

@marvelgeek24 To be honest, I wasn't great at the combat starting out, but since this gameplay I've learned the combat a lot better and my opinion is still the same. Yes you get a few more special moves, but it's pretty much all based around the melee button, with just a few added take downs and stunning abilities. As far as the not knowing where to go, it didn't bother me THAT much. Was poking fun more than anything, though I did lose my way a couple times.

The combat system may be simplistic, but it's challenging. There's so much satisfaction in combining your attacks. You can mix it up by throwing batarangs and using your grappling hook. Arkham Asylum was greatly praised for it's combat system and the fans of the original game didn't want it to change, which is why they kept it. They would be crazy to change it. It's one of the things I feel (and many others feel) that they nailed on the head. It makes the arcade mode what it is.

I think it's important to new players who haven't experienced the Batman Arkham series because they should definitely check it out. They're a great set of games.
