  • At the end of this song, all those people came to the same realization; "I just saw the greatest live performance I will ever see."

  • @AliveBroom Do you really think the type of government a country has, has ANYTHING to do with this song?

  • TELL IT TO ME!

  • @Trey3216 Yeah, the Weight is crazy good. I didn't realize he did so much with them.

  • Wanna hear some good hardcore honky tonk?... Come see The Tennessee Rounders at Rhythm & Brews in Chattanooga, TN on Feb 26th, 2011..... you wont be sorry! Its the once a year Johnny Cash Bash....biggest show in Chattanooga

Yep, DR and OCMS do a lot of stuff together. Tell me you've seen their cover of The Weight with Gillian?? It's unreal

  • This makes me want to do lines off a banjo wearing nothin but a cowboy hat!! OCMS bringin the good stuff as always!! See you guys next time you're in New England!

  • All of their songs as addicting as the titles.

  • love it............... wow

  • awww yeah they're using the Audix OM2 wicked pissah

  • f*ck yeah!

  • not the best song to panhandle with, they'll find out your true intentions.

  • Wonderful. This is the kind of bar performance where you just know that, around 2 a.m. or so, some chick is going to get naked.

  • I can tell you boys have done the hard yards as a band, playing every night, practicing every day. How else do you get this good?

  • I don't think they give a fuck about what they look like. You don't need a persona to play good music.

  • Bottom line is that people want newgrass prettyboys over the grit. The only people that want the grit are the people that play it. Hayseed is way too inbred and try to hard to be different from bands like OCMS to be taken seriously. Always in the shadow never in the spotlight, like it should be

  • Cocaine!

  • makes me want to cut out a line of blow and jump in my dukes of hazard car and drive reckless around town

  • @pureevilfnord It dosnt matter that they are pretty boys the point is they are not bland and generic cause when I hear Old Crow I know who it is and besides that they are the shit!

  • @Rob919Gore Whatever, I've been around this music all my life and this is about as generic as it comes. Try some Asylum Street Spankers if you want some true grit.

  • @pureevilfnord me 2 and it is fun!

  • @Rob919Gore just heard ASS and they are good but there is nothing they do that makes them anymore creative then these guys, sorry pal

  • @pureevilfnord Is this the only music genre (maybe with the exception of heavy metal that is) that being 'pretty' is a disadvantage? you have to be ugly to be accepted in the world of old time/bluegrass music!!

  • @veryheaven1924 You don't have to be ugly, but it sure helps. Seriously, the pretty boy thing doesn't discredit them, it just looks bad when attached to generic renditions of classic songs. I have seen probably 100 bands do this song, it's one of my favorites, but this version is bland and generic. And it happens to be performed by pretty boys. Maybe it's good as an introduction to old timey music to the lame-o masses.

  • @pureevilfnord This is good jug/string band/old timey music. I've seen them along with Yonder more than a few times, and OCMS is WAY more gritty and true to the roots than Yonder. They ain't no Rascal Flatts, who are from my home town, and gayer than aids. Can you name some better bands that do the jug band thing to come out recently? I've been listening to OCMS for years and maybe Wayne "The Train" Hancock I like more right now. Then again, that texas swing is a whole 'nother animal.

  • @vooptr Wendy And The Lost Boys are my favorite right now. There are members of that band who lived without electricity and running water for years and you can hear it in the music.

  • Wow this is awesome...I wanna dance around in a barn in a long skirt spilling a mug of beer...

  • stupid 10 dislikers you must have missed the like button or something

  • stupid 10 dislikers

  • Oh yeah, another grat tune...Crazy words, but that is alright.

  • How much fun can they have?!?!?!?!?! Great video, great people in a fantastic place!!

  • Friske saker

  • is that cyrus at 2:29

  • Dave Rawlings looks a bit like Nicholas Cage in this video ^^. GREAT SONG.

  • Brilliant videography...........good tune hate the words..

  • Still my favorite OCMS video.

  • I love this version because it reminds me of so many music joints/"dance bars" in which I have spent many hours over the years, especially in New Orleans. I have long guessed that OCMS had "bar band" origins. There's nothing like hearing a superb performance in a venue like this.

  • Biilly ray won't admit it ,but that is him at 2:29.

  • @trainrecked hahahahahah

  • Genres are for the small minded.

    Music is for everyone.

  • @DKMurphys77 flawless victory.

  • Check out our band Noodle Soup outta Denver you can get our EP on ITunes. Or Google Noodle Soup Denver.

  • isnt this a rip off of a john martyn track??

  • best of the OCMS songs

  • fake

  • Nice response, trey3216

  • can anyone recommend more bands like old crow medicine show that have songs like this.

  • @Adematka You should look up the album "We Shall Overcome" by Bruce Springsteen. Chock full of great songs like this.

  • Another great tune...gotta love it. Nice job...so entertaining.Elijah Wood~Karl Rove!? Love this song

  • amazing

  • Anyone know what kind of harmonica Ketch uses?

  • @ReppinThe304 Lee Oskars...they are the best without breaking the bank. 50 or so a harp. I have a 1stC 2ndG Lee Oskar and love the shit out of it

  • love the tune, and perhaps equally the fact that they look like prep-school boys.

  • great tunes...your right its redneck music...i like sayin something like "yesm its the darndest tootinest music ever" when people make fun of my tunes...i dont talk like that but it sure does raise a laugh when a slick decides to try to pick on a country boy around other country boys

  • Awesome.

  • Comment removed

  • its redneck music, wtf is joeydubord???

  • @joeydubord

    fag.

  • Kill yourself

  • old crow playin jazz fest new orleans 2010 gonna be amazing the line up is full widespread paul simon old crow and so many more hope you all make it there

  • Hell yes. I've never seen them live do you know which weekend their playing?

  • ahaha, i love mommytard singing this.

  • mommytard FTW!

  • shaytard rebellionites!!

  • Shaytards ftw!

  • this guys are AMAZING!

  • my buddy plays this good on banjo, just a bit faster, super goood haha

  • He can play the shit out of that Mississippi sax

  • he plays the shit out of everything!

  • Correct it is the Old Time genre, and it has been deemed as Newgrass. Folks, for those of you that say you're into rock and not this stuff. Pull out your Led Zeppelin collection, your Stones collection, and your Clapton, and you'll realize what you're hearing from them is a combination of Delta blues and bluegrass with rock overtone. That's why Plant did the album with Alyson. It's why listening to Outkast is easy. Good music transcends genre depending on presentation. This is great!!

  • @trey3216 VERY well said. You can't put OCMS in a box, they are pioneers like many of the greats before them. Creating a familiar sound with their own flavor. OCMS live is like nothing I have ever seen, and I HAVE seen the Rolling Stones...LOL

  • @trey3216 thank you for the lesson mr. music scholar. wtf dude. just listen to the music.

  • @trey3216 Agreed most of Led Zeppelin's III album is mostly Bluegrass and Folk.

  • @trey3216 amen brotha! Preach on and I shall shout Hallelujah

  • @trey3216 brother you sure arr right.i was raised on them all and i got them all, more than 300 hrs of music.these are awesome with the fresh tunes.no oldies here dude.long road out of eden..!

  • @trey3216 preach it brother

  • @trey3216 Absolutely! This music is sensational! I listen to all genres, even (modern)R&B has it's merits...Outkast. Where there is true talent, there is good music, the labels come later.(usually from people who like to ignore quality music if it doesn't match their image)

  • Does anyone know where this video was from? I swear it looks like a bar I partied at down in te French Quarter off Bourbon Street.

  • I saw these guys in concert a few months ago in L.A. California...............Awesome!!!!!

I like that term "Newgrass" nachocamacho

  • WOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Ill think of this song when hitch hiking to copenhagen from amsterdam. YEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH

  • fantastic tune. I saw these at the cambridge folk festival (UK) in about 2005. They played this song about 4 times. The audiences' screams drowned out the organiser guy who tried to tell us they couldn't come back on, but the buys came out anyway and played it again! One of the best gigs I've ever seen, come back to Britain soon guys!

  • Old Time is the genre... leaning more towards bluegrass than country IMO.

  • harp skills

  • amazing, ... is country or bluegrass?

  • Neither! Its old timey music. Pure jug band blues.

  • I've heard it called Newgrass... since it's bluegrass with a modern twist

  • who care labels are for fags who need to have everything tity and in order .just love it

  • that was some might fine pickin and a singin'

  • i will say, singing this to oneself does get a couple of stares though....

  • Amazing.......... wow.....

  • I mostly listen to electronic dj stuff, but these guys are so powerful and talented that I have a new favorite (off )electronic style , keep it going Old Crow, you got my interest.

  • he sure can blow a harp

  • not sure why, but i have a huge thing for the lead singer, i think has to do with the harmonica and the voice...damn...

  • amazing song, and I'm more into rock. I don't even like this kind of music.

  • love this song, plannin on coverin it soon, already did wagon wheel

  • The song that we wanna cover is called let it alone by this band but I can't find any decent videos of that song, I found one but you could hardly hear the words cus it was in concert

  • being from the south and my family coming from the virginia and kentucky mountains, it's awesome to know other people actually appreciate this music

  • hey dude! this music is just getting bigger and bigger in my hometown in NORWAY! =) LOVE that old style way of playing!

  • haha good music is good music. I never liked country music on the radio but Old Crow is freaking awesome I'm glad I found them. That kid can play the hell out of a harmonica, SWEEEET

  • THESE BOYS HERE ARE DAM GOOD

  • "Old Time" predates Bill Monroe and has its roots in the jug bands. The jug band, like ALL purely North American musical genres (blues, jazz, gospel, etc.) - excluding Native American music - had its genesis in African music.

But OCMS also does straight-ahead bluegrass.

And the important thing to keep in mind in this discussion is that, IT'S *ALL* GOOD!!!!!!!!

  • its not bluegrass, its newgrass

  • its old time string you dumbass cunt

  • damn dem boys r good!!

  • who cares about the genre anyways? it's music. it's genre is awesome.

  • Pure fuckin BLUEGRASS BEAUTY

  • OCMS is considered Old Time and the only reason I know this is because I posted the same comment and got flamed. THIS IS OLD TIME NOT BLUEGRASS... i know not the difference 8 )

  • Just to help out old time is a genre that predates bluegrass. It has its roots in mountain music and traditional fiddle tunes.

I wouldn't really consider OCMS strictly old time because they cross the lines quite a bit but they definitely have deep roots in old time music.

  • love it when zmick covers this!

  • Just for everyone's information. Don't ever ask Kevin Hayes to sing a karaoke duet. He Can't carry a tune!! But damn can he play! Love OCMS

    -Frederika, IA

  • Humdinger, Let It Alone. Kevin sings just fine.

  • One heck of a party !

  • story of my life!

  • There are 2 kinds of music: 1. good 2. bad This is good music...unless of course in your dialect ''bad'' means ''good'' then in that instance, this would be ''bad'' music (which for those who weren´t paying attention means ''good'' in some dialects). Why can´t you guys listen to good music without getting into an internet sissy fight about labeling it under some contrived genre. Save that crap for your music appreciation class. Don´t try to dissect everything.

  • hahhahahah that was funny

  • why dont you all just shut the hell up quit fightn and listen

  • Agreed. Stupid genre labels are stupid. "Alternative"? What the hell is that?! OCMS is mostly jug band, because that's how they got started. There's not a "jug band" genre, so whatever. They bring a lot of things together. That's why we love them.

  • love this band.

  • These guys played a GREAT set after the hail storm at Delfest this year. Hail NO! Del YEAH!

  • I heard it was LOUD because they had to go inside for the hail storm.

  • david rawlings on banjo

  • it's nice to see that there are still people playing this kind of old fashion music

  • This isnt old fashioned this is "newgrass " the present

  • thanks for telling me

  • "newgrass"???? now thats just retarded

  • I was thinking the exact same thing

  • this is totally old time music

  • Sorry, but this isn't even bluegrass, its old time Americana.
