This completely takes me back to my childhood. I was only 6 years old when the Sound of Music came out, but I still have the record (vinyl) and this was the first music I truly loved. My grandmother had the Julie Andrews and Rex Harrison record from My Fair Lady and I have that too. I learned to sing by belting it out like Ms. Andrews and sang soprano in high school. I have now lost my upper register as well. I miss those days...

Lol. Don't be jealous. I lost my iPod in the snow, and shovelled like 500 metres of snow to search for it, from I think a little past midnight to 1am, and still didn't find it, and I'd saved money from grade 4 till grade 12, to buy it. Snow isn't always nice :P Though I generally love snow.

One of my big regrets and wishes is that I wish Julie Andrews could have made more musicals. Our society was so stupid at that time, and thought musicals weren't cool enough. We should have given Julie Andrews as much movie musical work as she wanted.

Julie Andrews should have been in "My Fair Lady." That wasn't fair to put a non-singing actress into the movie. Audrey Hepburn is pretty and a good actress, but this shouldn't have been her movie. It's a musical.

Whoever made that decision should have been fired..it was a horrible move.

@CamramanidiotCIA Not quite. Producer Jack Warner apparently thought she wasn't famous enough to guarantee ticket sales. Apparently Audrey Hepburn initially protested against his decision and asked that he cast Julie as Eliza. But she eventually accepted the role when Warner threatened to cast Liz Taylor instead. Since Julie wasn't offered the role, she decided to do Mary Poppins.

Julie must have felt stung then, but she still achieved greatness anyway with her shining talent.

It still makes me sad a little when I hear her sing since she had that botched surgery she just never was the same again, she lost her soprano voice due to that surgery making her never able to sing again, we have videos like this thankfully but still, such a beautiful person, actress and singer lost one of her true loves and that has to be hard on anyone.

Julie Andrews is such an amazing actress and singer, Hollywood could learn a thing or two from this magnificent lady! Her beautiful voice makes me smile, I could listen to her singing all day long. Some record label out there should make an album or soundtrack of her most famous songs.

There just never was any other voice like hers -- so beautiful, so pure! And back then you didn't have to be half naked and do sexually explicit dancing in order to get on TV. All you had to do was have a beautiful voice & face. Nowadays beautiful voices seem to be optional.

I saw an interview she did for a movie (i think it was princess diaries) where she spoke about not being able to sing etc. She said she has accepted the fact that she can't sing anymore after the injury, but her eyes had that 'longing' glint...
