  • i had a 1990 crx si i did a zc topend dohc non vtec was pretty quick..until the car was in an accident, had turbo plans for that motor...what tires were u runnin and how much boost...? that car is quick for a sohc

  • Nice build, gotta love D series. I'm dropping a sohc d16z6 in a 91 dx hatch (yes it is an origonal si motor that was just rebuilt and tuned). (due to the si being totaled), i love how easy these motors are to work on and the great gas mileage and quality that comes along with them!!! = D

  • @trueropyro best motor? no way after you get your d series into the 400 hp range you run into fuel problems, its pretty hard to make a d series stable at high hp, b series is teh most reliable and easy to build, and with the dohc so much easy to tune and makes a lot more of a gain on parts.

  • @MrJdmef ok thats not true at all. Look at what bisimoto did, 700whp on a single cam d-series with pump gas. D series have a better rod/stroke ratio anyway... and they dont cost a shitload if you fuck somthing up and have to make repairs or replacements.

  • @DestroyerOnHalo right im not saying its not possible it sure is, and the s series at hp are pretty dam sweet. alls im saying is that me having own both b series and d series motors both turbo the b series was the easiest to make high horse. dont get me wrong i like d series motors but not if im gonna build it for power thats just my opinion. :)

  • @MrJdmef b series are harder to tine than d series. i know this from experience bro. i have owned several of both. just depends on what setup you want to go with.

  • y8 heads flow better than z6 heads do and they do have smaller combustion chambers. but timing on a z6 head is alot easier to do than a y8 cause of the 4 degree offset of the cam

  • z6 heads flow better than y8 heads, y8 heads have smaller combustion chambers which offers a little bit higher compression ratio in comparison to a z6 head, so if you're going to do a mini-me, z6 head for boost, y8 head for all motor.

  • I thought its the other way around.. Z6 has better block( better oiling and stronger rods) and y8 had better head because of quench area to reduce detonation used in turbo applications. Can anyone else tell me if I'm wrong?

  • check the gauge before he hit the curve people, it was roughly 1/4 tank. right curves/turns always make the gauge drop in these civs when the gas is actually still there

  • yea no kidding half tank with hard right turn = almost 1/4 tank for a few seconds

  • its very very unlikely that the kid is runnin race fuel...not too many places you can buy it except for black hawk farms and elkhart..but those aren't any where around milwaukee....but any ways very nice civic kid....one actually worth racing I'd say....(1975 280z Datsun with a 302 cobra motor swap)

  • you should never get in boost like that when your that low on gas.

    and you never know the float could be broken

  • Did you use the y8 block to turbo it cuz of the lower compression than the z6? If so is the z6 a better head than the y8?
