Now do not take this as me trying to say that dropping the bombs was a good thing. The thought of any action of war horrifies me, especially that with atomic or nuclear warheads. Despite what history book says, Kamikaze was a serious threat and caused more US Navy casualties and ships sunk or damaged than the pilots and planes lost by the Japanese, not to mention the severe combat effectiveness this campaign created to the American morale. Ironically, this and the bloody Okinawa campaign caused US to speed up the use of the atomic bombs rather than waiting out for the invasion of Japan.

Now, do a frame by frame, look at the 5 o'clock position, there is definitely a PARACHUTE!. The parachute is visible from 3:40 to 3:47.
I would speculate that the pilot was thrown out of the exploding aeroplane, and his parachute opened of itself, quite probably the pilot was unconscious or dead.
Fact is that the Kamikaze attacks were a failure & failed to sink any captial warships although they damaged a few capital warships & sunk some destroyers & support ships & a few escort & light carriers. It was a waste of life & aircraft in the end.

Now do not take this as me trying to say that dropping the bombs was a good thing. The thought of any action of war horrifies me, especially that with atomic or nuclear warheads. But sometimes it is a necessary evil. Though the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki cost tens of thousands of lives, it saved millions more. You must look at the big picture.

To all those posting negative comments about America's actions during WWII; Yes, we realize that we killed tens of thousands (not hundreds) of civilians during the atomic bombings, but it was either that or an invasion of Japan, which would have cost millions of lives. It was a necessary evil in order to bring a quick end to the war. Otherwise, there may not be a Japanese people to speak of today. They were prepared to fight to the last man, woman, and child.

During the Okinawa Campaign (83 - 100 days or so), which includes Brit. & USA carrier strikes on jap. airfields in taiwan etc., ~7,830 Jap. aircraft (including 2,655 to 'operational accidents') were lost & BRIT. & USA (768) losses were much, much less. Jap. records show more Kamikazes shot down than the Allies claimed were shot down. 368 Allied ships (including 120 amphibious craft) were damaged while 28, including 15 amphibious ships and 12 destroyers were sunk during the Okinawa campaign.

Good editing, good music. Despite what history book says, Kamikaze was a serious threat and caused more US Navy casualties and ships sunk or damaged than the pilots and planes lost by the Japanese, not to mention the severe combat effectiveness this campaign created to the American morale. Ironically, this and the bloody Okinawa campaign caused US to speed up the use of the atomic bombs rather than waiting out for the invasion of Japan.

This video reminds me of the feeling of combat... never been in an actual war but it reminds me of paintball. Its that feeling you get when you know the odds are against your team and unless you can outshoot and outwit the enemy the battle will end in pain and defeat. But that chance of defeat makes victory all the more glorious.

Has anyone seen what I just saw, it's this.
Starting at 3:40, a Zero(?) is blown apart, pieces scatter everywhere from the fireball.
Now, do a frame by frame, look at the 5 o'clock position, there is definitely a PARACHUTE!. The parachute is visible from 3:40 to 3:47.
I would speculate that the pilot was thrown out of the exploding aeroplane, and his parachute opened of itself, quite probably the pilot was unconscious or dead.
Amazing.

Fact is that the Kamikaze attacks were a failure & failed to sink any captial warships although they damaged a few capital warships & sunk some destroyers & support ships & a few escort & light carriers. It was a waste of life & aircraft in the end.
