In the end, take all of the most effective techniques of all arts, they will be the same. They vary only slightly, if at all. People who like Kata or forms are allowed to enjoy it, same for those who enjoy point sparring or full contact. Where everyone goes wrong is doubting the effectiveness of an art because of bias. I get so sick of these arguments as we should all be on the same side, training to be better in our realm.
@Sapper0154 they probably didnt do the damn technique right....than again a lot of MCMAP is pretty useless if u cant do it right and are only taught the "basics" of the techniques. There are plenty of ways (as u probably already know since u are a brown belt in MCMAP) to execute each technique. For example...the basic wrist lock...the way it is taught in the syllabus is freakin bogus and gay and will essentially not work. U know the "take the wrist and put it to ur chest and rotate."
Does anyone have a copy of the Paladin Press DVD of LINE with Ron Donvito? How does it differ from the actual LINE system and is it worth picking up if you want a insight in LINE?
THEY OBVIOUSLY SLID THROUGH THE CRACKS BECAUSE I HAVE USED IT AND IT HAS DESTROYED MEN BIGGER THAN ME SOO I THINK YOU JUST MIGHT BE A SHITBIRD SAPPER0154
I am a former Army Paratrooper and currently a US Marine. I've trained in L.I.N.E. (from former Marine instructors), Krav Maga and am a brown belt in MCMAP. L.I.N.E and Krav Maga are great systems while MCMAP is the fastest way to get your ass kicked. You see it all the time in the bars outside Camp Lejuene. Somthing will pop off and some boot or super moto retard will try some MCMAP stuff and get his ass handed to him.
@sapper0154 I disagree m8..I've crosstrained with both and find MCMAP Superior to Krav... MCMAP encompasses gear which Krav didn't..last I read, MCMAP & Krav are very similar...Its how Brian Stann got his start in fighting
@sh4rpsh0t33 Yeah, you better remove that comment. Coward. You want me to show respect for what? Terrible misguided technique? I'm a former Marine, and in the USMC we have a thing called "policing your own" i.e. if you look like ass, you're called on it.
@sh4rpsh0t33 No, you're wrong. Respect is not given for ass technique and ignorance. That is what gets you killed. I'm a former Marine. Reread my response, you have no say. Now you should show some respect to the Marines and shut the fuck up.
@lileichmann this isnt mcmap. that kick was changed for safety. the way youre supposed to do it is use the cutting edge of your hill on their achilles tendon only after another move was done to either break a bone or take out an eye or something to soften them up...
@danthman114 This move is still used in MCMAP the exact same way. I can still hear the DIs yelling "calf on calf!" They never tell you any different. The same with the so called "muay thai kick" they try to teach. They tell you to use the foot and keep both hands up and not let the one arm swing... wrong! MCMAP is BS. I've trained in BJJ and Muay Thai for the last 10 years in and out of the USA. MCMAP seems to be pulled from a crappy DVD homecourse on self defense. There are no professionals.
@lileichmann i hated mcmap. mma fighters helped to develop it. ken shamrock was one of the top guys in coming up with it. however they did use some line training. krav maga was a BIG influence in line
@danthman114 Krav Maga is by far the most over-rated buch of garbage ever. I fight professionally and study fighting everyday of my life. Krav Maga owes its popularity to the zionist media which forces it into middle america through garbage Karate schools, which also rape the mind and body of actual practicality. The "kick with the heel" is extremely exagerated and is ineffective. Shamrock is not the MMA fighter to construct a combat system. China and Thai have the best military fighting.
@lileichmann at the time mcmap was thought up, ken shamrock was winning. also a good friend of mine who has black belts in, i think 5 different chinese martial arts said krav maga was about the most practical. to get in and get the job done without looking all fancy. like kung fu. hes been teaching for about 20 years. one of his styles he got to go to china, to a temple, to get his black belt. i guess not everyone can do that. so he knows his shit.
@danthman114 Black belt in anything other than Judo or BJJ is just about worthless especially traditional Chinese Martial Arts. Krav Maga is NOT practical as it is formed based on theory, Israel has NEVER been involved in close quarters combat and therefore nullifies any prac ap. It is a fancy ego art peddled off to midwestern housewives as rape prevention, things like "explode" and "ward off" are worthless. 20 years in TMA are like 2-3 in Muay Thai or BJJ. MT best striking. BJJ best grappling.
@lileichmann You do realize they are using Chinese Chin Na in this video, right? Chinese Martial Arts, as well as many other Traditional arts have their places. Where ring sports like Muay Thai and BJJ excel, Traditional arts do not. However, the same basics apply to all arts. In addition, Traditional arts do not take any rules into account, and often practice for situations not accounted for in ring sports. Traditionalists have far less ego than those who discount all other arts.
Yes I thought I stated that the technique in this video is horrific... TMA have the biggest ego of all Karate TKD etc. Did you miss the 80's and 90's movie scene? MT is not a "ring sport" but techniques from it are used in the ring and consistantly dominate and are therefore most commonly used bcuz they are "practical" and were constructed in the battlefields. That determines the difference between Martial "Art" and martial "Science". Thai has NEVER been colonized by the west for good reason...
@lileichmann what you seen here isnt really anything. that kick wasnt really a kick but a stomp. the reason it was so high was for power. it wasnt designed to ko anyone but to crush the face and kill someone when they are on the ground. thats what line training taught was hot to kill someone as fast as you can to get to the next guy. it was far better than mcmap... and MOST of it actually worked.
@danthman114 However I wasn't referring to the trip, I was refering to the "kick" I guess more at 0:21 where he swings his leg like he's trying to mount a horse. SF Marine.
@lileichmann that wasnt a kick, it was a heal to the bridge of the nose. that would be used when the guy is on the ground. it was a finishing stomp with the cutting edge of the boot heel
I seen in a catalog, where a former Marine is selling the LINE system for around $50 i think. it may be more. i guess i will watch this.. I know that, in a fight, it's not the bigger or stronger fighter who wins, it's the better fighter who wins. But, would this help me out? I am al ittle guy.
@brooder9000 it would help you out but it takes a lot of practice. You can see a lot of these techniches are converging with other martial arts of self defense moves. The arm and wrist locks you learn in almost any Aikido or JiuJitsu system and most karate schools. Really you may just be better off going to a Dojo. You get an expert instructing you and you have practice partners. Different body types etc.
Dude--it was TOO Deadly. So deadly in fact they stopped teaching the WHOLE system and incorporated CQC Boxing INSTEAD of teachin defense vs Punches and Kicks (at least when I was there).
Marines are Cops now--not killers--so they adopted the pussy MCMAP.
Line dont have many "Come Along" cop escort moves like gay BJJ ;o)
Ill also recommend for any Former Marines who were trained in CQC Boxing [remember that 4 foot square ring lol] INSTEAD of L.I.N.E 2 [Defense vs vaious kicks and Punches] to get this DVD--easy to find online.
