  • I can dark meat chicken all the time. 75 minutes for pints-90 minutes for quarts

  • I have successfully canned (and eaten) boneless chicken thighs. In the Ball Blue Book they say you can can a whole chicken cut up, bones and all. If you can bottle red meats like beef, lamb, or Moose (as mentioned in the above video) dark meat chicken should be fine.

  • Where can I get the book ??

  • If you can Shepards Pie, do you use raw beef or precooked beef?

  • what people also can do is Sell things that they dont need anymore and use that money for their food storage. Only people who dont have enough money to set up a food storage for a year.

  • Where do I go to get the 'how to booklet' she's talking about?

  • YouTube is not letting me post a link, but if you Google "Everything under the sun" along with "food storage," you will find some links to the material for download. Mrs. Dewitt has also provided the material upon request by email, address found at her blog.

  • Look in gray box to the right that includes "subscribe". Lots of information is in that box for all videos.

From her website: "email me ... and I'll send you a PDF file of the booklet."

  • Amazing! In Alaska, I think they can that wonderful Salmon! good info,

thanks alot. But, I try to eat all raw food and don't eat meat and allergic to wheat and processed foods. Yikes! too bad for me!

  • Can you "can" dark chicken meat too? Does it have to be boneless? thighs are easy to find on sale. yuo don't add any liquid to it???

  • I've only 'canned' boneless chicken breast so I don't know about the dark meat. Wendy might, you can email her directly from her blog.

And no, you don't add liquid to the chicken. I do add a little broth to the ground beef that I bottle. But that is a bit different as I precook that, before processing. For the raw pack, like the chicken, I don't add liquid, the chicken has plenty of it's own liquid.

  • i cann ,and my grandmother used to do chicken drumsticks in canns- bone in with no problems
