Standing on the outside of America, and not involved nor interested in the politics or fundamentalism of the US, I listen and read the words of Bill Ayers and I hear much educational truth. His philosophy is echoed in many of todays educational reformists and humanists, yet Americans can't seem to give him the credit he deserve as an educationalist.

But let's just look at what he says. The student that Ayers describes could be completely ignorant and self-absorbed. This student knows what he likes and doesn't like, much like an infant. A generation like this and you won't have a democratic society. So for me this is shoddy thinking... And look at the set-up. Schools are mere sorting machines? I'm a big critic of public schools but a generalization like this is shallow.

I don't know if I agree that Robert McNamara should be in prison, but perhaps Oliver NOrth should be. To me Ayers represents the hypocrisy of the 60's "activists". They talked a good game but were and are very selfish, like the con man Timothy Leary.
