  • In a word: Beautiful.

  • 134 likes,2 lady gaga & katy perry fans!

  • The people talking should be rounded up and shot ANNIE HASLAM IS SINGING dickheads

  • Anyone know where this was recorded? I have been to 100's of concerts in US and Europe. This talking thing seems to be largely an American phenomenon.

(P.S. Before the bashing and bitching starts, I'm American!)

  • wow!!!, many thanks (from the Netherlands) for this vid | two of our greatest symrockers together | great song meets great voice

  • Great video relic! What a treasure. Slap every one of those idiots talking - if they've got something better to do, they should not be at the concert.

  • SHUT THE FUCK UP>>>PEOPLE!!!!!

  • Fantastic vocal interpretion by Annie, regarding one of the most important tunes by Yes in their best ensemble, here there's Steve Howe only!

  • wow

  • Somewhere on Youtube, there is this same song with both Steve and Annie which has a great performance and no talking from the audience.

  • Every concert iv'e been to there has been a noisy idiot moron . Stay away morons and go and watch your fuckin Take That

  • now i understand why I could never sing yes songs way out of my range

  • is true people dont stop to talk, what bad manners.

  • Nope...Anderson's voice is much better. And what in the hell is Annie doing singing during Howe's lead in the guitar? WTF? Thanks for the post though...Makes me miss Anderson that much more...damn....

  • Poor limey neilmacduff! A true dolt!!!!

  • Hey ahole neilmacduff! If it wasn't for the " yanks" you'd be speaking German.

  • Sensibilidade. Talento. A idade não conta para eles. São eternos. Obrigado pela postagem

  • Thank you posting such a treasure. I am a huge Renaissance/Annie Haslam fan and I am so happy to see more videos of her appearing on youtube. There is such a scarcity of Renaissance performances in their heyday. She still takes my breath away. It does an old prog rocker's heart good to see his favorites on youtube.

  • Someone should have gone around and gagged those loudmouths in the audience.

  • Lovely. I would second the comment about American audiences.

  • Annie H. (ashes aare burning) my love you sing so sweetly! Just like Jon.

  • perfectly beautiful!! despite the talking ...

  • GO OUTSIDE IF YOU WANT TO TALK!

  • idiots in the audiences riuned this great live song

  • Annie sings beautifully.She does justice to Jon's lyrics.BEAUTIFUL

  • I wish the people in the background would shut up.This is a concert not a bar!A rare occasion when people from 2 major prog bands come together like this. Two people who represent the best in what they do and have done and people just gab in the background thinking only of their own mundane problems.I think it's o.k. to talk but they could at least have the respect to keep it down to an occasional whisper.Rock music was only respected during the very late 60's and early 70's when it was worthy.

  • I love Annie from Renaissance and my favorite group has always been Yes. So to see them performing together is just beautiful. Thanks.

  • Beautiful song, nice legendary pairing for the ages! Thank you for sharing this. :)

  • I guess all we are missing is the sound of the fat yanks slurping on their super-sized "diet" Cokes and munching on the fries.... Otherwise, beautiful melody and lovely guitar... shame it's "pearls before swine".

  • I was there! I had a magical time,....talking about the weather with my mates.

  • I was gonna watch this but STOP FUCKING TALKING AND JUST WATCH THE SHOW DOUCHEBAGS IN THE AUDIENCE

  • By all means, yack it up during one of the most beautiful songs ever written. I would of shot them a very stern look.

  • @pschroeter1 I've written a letter.

  • Gosh what an IGNORANT audience! Thats the problem with American audiences; you cannot play a quiet song without some redneck going 'WOO' just so they can hear the sound of their own voice!

    Otherwise a beautiful performance

  • @neil73 I agree. I'm an American and the audiences here, for the most part, are ignorant. The European audiences have much more respect for the performers. I apologize on behalf of those of us who enjoy watching and listening.

  • Where was this performed? Or, did the talking somehow get accidentally recorded with the video, cetc. I have never seen or heard anything like an audience talking.

  • I once ran into Rennaissance on the sidewalk outside a gig and had the balls to ask if they ever played "Black Flame "and "Trip to the Fair" ?

They played BOTH....such trippy tunes....forever grateful!!!!!

  • I like ''Paralells'' the female led Yes' cover band (found on Youtube)..Alan White joined them live several times..Annie sounds like Edenbridge here

  • @nneevveerrmmoorree Yes, Parallels are great.

  • This collaboration could have been really good! Mind you, they're playing a Yes composition.... When Yes were good they were amazingly good!

  • annie and Steve (YES) best of both worlds

  • I saw Renaissance open for Yes in Phoenix Az on the GFTO tour. What a show. I always wondered what it would sound like if Annie did a Yes song. Now I know. Beautiful. Thanx for posting.

  • How can people be talking through this!!???

  • ..'tell me plainly when we meet how we'll look'...

winter's gone, spring is here.. and hopefully...

'as Autumn calls we'll both remember all those many years ago'

    (possibly hundreds of thousands?)

    ~Lovely... enchanting.. great pair~

  • The best music ever !

  • Audience talking in concerts are really irritating. Great voice, great guitar playing.

  • Very rare. Magic !!

  • I noticed moments of intonation, but it's hard to tell if it's Annie or the accompanying guitar notes momentarily clashing with the vocal notes. I'm inclined to think it's the latter. Nevertheless, this is such a beautiful song and this is a wonderful performance. Thanks for posting this!

  • I had the opportunity to talk to Annie a couple of years ago. She hasn't lost her North England accent, nor the North England sence of humour and we had a great laugh.

She has recorded a studio track "Lily's In The Field" with Steve Howe, and it can be fond on her album "Woman Transcending". It does of course include her beautiful voice and the typical Steve Howe "fiddly bits". But overall a nice relaxing album.

  • This is an absolutely beautiful version of this song with a beautiful vocalist.

This is my first time hearing her on this I want to hear more. I am 54 years old remember hearing Renaissance years ago.

  • excellent; very enjoyable

  • the most criative guitar player and the queen of all singers

  • Annie is a Goddess of song. The ignorance of those talking instead of listening always blows my mind. Every concert I go to, there is some idiot who won't shut the hell up. The song is great...the recording is lame.

  • Annie is really the only true substitute for Jon.

This was magical, even with people who would rather hear themselves instead of what's being played.

    Thanks for posting.

  • Fucking talking People in the Backround! Shoot them down!

  • Agreed, they shouldn't be there. Put a muzzle on it.

  • MMMmm. O.K. here goes. I thought it was kindof wooden. turned it off at 0:51. Now wait. The song? Love it. the studio version. In fact I was listening to it earlier tonight & yea I got choked up. I think with this version tho 'so much expectation' is placed on it to just wow you right away. theres too much audience noise. To me, I just think the song is too precious. The studio version is just right: 900 microphones pointed at steves guitar & annies voice. : ) ok thats that.

  • Absolutely one of the most gorgeous pieces of music that will ever be created in GOD'S universe...John CLEESE could sing it in drag through a Sousaphone under 10 ft. of water in a swimming pool during a hurricane and it would still be wondrous(although THAT would be a 'Wondrous Story!')...Tremendous version,this,though,so...TYVVVVM4P!!!!(Thank you VERY VERY VERY VERY MUCH for posting!)

  • Very beautiful, they are great together!

  • GREAT MOMENT...WONDERFUL

  • THIS IS AMAZING...A GEM !

  • @dontforgetmyuser ... do you know you share beauty with me, always ? xo

  • If there is anybody that looks worse than Keith Richards it's Steve Howe! The crypt Keeper for sure. Still a hell of a guitar player though. Annie Haslam has the best female voice on the planet. I miss Renaissance immensely. Fantastic band.

  • Well - If we shout hard enough - The "Full" Renaissance band will reform and tour again - although I'm not so sure whether it will happen - there are two "Camps" at the moment - Annie Haslam and Michael Dunford - having recently performed in the States as Renaissance 2009 . also we have (apparently) another band (soon) with Terry Sullivan , John Tout and Jon Camp

    Lets see what hapens

  • Don't you just love IDIOT MORONS who can't stop talking during concerts?

  • Renaissance WITH Annie and Michael Dunford are touring in selected cities for a 40th Anniversary Tour - In NYC on 10/9 - That's tomorrow!!!!! Love ya Annie - F-U Steve for touring with a tribute imitator, and charging Yes prices - "Yours Is No Disgrace!" Will wait for Jon - and Annie is the sweetest person, with the greatest vocal range I've ever heard - "Ashes Are Burning Awaaaaaaay!"

  • saw the mentioned renaissance show in n.y.. it was spectacular, annie was great, band was superb. played everything you would wanrt to hear.

  • IMHO, instead of the fugazi tribute band singer currently touring with a band which calls itself Yes, which is an insult to Jon Anderson and most loyal fans of the great Yes who actually were touched by the spirituality of the lyrics, it would have been more genuine if they asked Annie if she would fill in for Jon, as she is the ONLY other person who could deliver Jon's words in the same spirit with which they were written. Love and Light, Annie

  • I love Jon, but Annie is wonderous!!!!!

  • Talk, talk, it's all talk. Too much talk. Chatter, chit-chat, chit-chat, chit-chat... Unbelievable. I just don't get people's behavior during Epic concerts like this one. It's so fucking disrespectful for the ones who really want to listen and for the artists. Well, thanks for sharing this precious recording even if it's ruined by some jerks in the audience.

  • Turn of the century is one of the most beautiful songs ever. the voice on Jon in that song is "insuperable". but only someone like Annie is able to get closer the beauty of the original.

  • Hey, thanks for posting this. I played keyboards on this, it was a very memorable night. I think we actually recorded the show multi-track, although this is the first I've ever seen or heard since that night, I think it was '95, actually, but it's fuzzy... also played that night with Justin Hayward, Gary Brooker, Ian McDonald... do you have any other tunes on vid? Unreal lineup - Cheap Trick, Roy Wood, Phoebe Snow, Annie, Steve, Al Franken, Ian, Justin, Gary - probably forgetting a few...

  • Wow, I would love to see other vids of that night! And Annie is amazing as always.

  • ... miss ya Squigg!

  • I guess the very varied line up does a lot to explain all the chattering. But as someone said, it's inconsiderate to everyone that wants to hear. It's a shame the multi-track will prob never come out.

  • Simply fantastic !

  • Thank you. Wonderful collaboration.

  • Great post! Thanks a lot for sharing this pearl.

  • This is an amazing performance, but what is even more amazing is all the yo-yos that talk and talk and laugh and TALK THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE SONG! What a bunch of idiots that didn't know what they were witness to-or should that be witless to???

  • They were taking a break from listening, saving their energy to scream for the band to play Owner Of A Lonely Heart. You're right, it is amazing that they had no interest in this song. I usually hate covers (consider it a cover without Jon) but I love this one.

  • Thanks again for sharing. Is it possible to get a copy somehow? I've tried and tried but to no avail. What a combination. Annie and Steve and Turn of the Century. The Brownhound

  • Thank you for posting! never thought I'd get the chance to see this . I knew it was out there, but could never find it anywhere. What a great combination, Steve and Annie. No one would have dared to attempt this. Beautiful! Thank you for sharing this with us fans. the Brownhound

  • Is this from the Lilies of the field show at Irving Plaza in New York ? It's great footage!!

  • Wow. I never knew that Annie and Steve had performed LIVE together. Was this on a mid-90s SH solo tour or something?

  • I'm pretty sure it was 1994

  • Thanks for the info

  • Thanks so much for sharing!

  • It's great to see these two 70's heroes collaberating. Wish they had wrote some original songs together.

  • I'm pretty sure they did an entire album together in the late 90s, but were never able to get record company to release it. I remember Howe mentioning this in interviews.

  • they actually did an album in the 90's that was never released, maybe Rennassiance's 40th anniversary tour in October will help expedite its release.everyone loves Annie!
