here's a theoretical question. Say you had a plant turn hermie. Would it be possible to snip the male pollen sacs off before the pollen is released thus saving the pistils from being pollinated?

you could try that xanos, but if you miss even 1 pollen sack your likely going to get seeds. your best bet is to prevent stress on the plant (like chopping the plant inhalf, or re-vegging) so they don't develop seed pods in the 1st place.

what does using at 240 do?

inside the ballast there is an autotransformer that uses electromagnetic inductance to double the voltage going in.

Normal house circuits are 120 Volts, but they can also be 240 V depending on which circuit its on. But, if you are plugged into a 240V, and hte ballast is meant to take 120 and autotransform it up to 240V, your going to get yourself into trouble, big trouble.

With time the resistance of the voltage will build up heat and short circuit. So you would want to re wire the ballst, or in this case just switch it over so it is meant to take 240V , which the HPS lamps need + striking voltage to create an arc inside the bulb so you dont burn out your ballast.

No ballast= no pot.

2K is a bit high on the estimate. If you're a licensed patient and are only growing for your personal needs, expect between 900-1500 for your initial investment depending if you're going to do indoor or outdoor. At least in my area of Cali, that's how much the gear goes for....

another question...i wanna grow my first 2 plants, i chose 2 bubba kush plants and i have them in a box of 18inches by 18inches and around 4 feet tall maybe less. i have 4 cfl light fixtures 26 watts i believe and 1600k. i wanted to get nutrients but what should i get? i waas thinking earthjuice because its more affordable, but what do you recomend for a better yield?
