  • onstar uses cellphone towers so when the towers go down so does onstar

  • 2 way radio communications are governed by the fcc not the states.

  • look into the camera and make it a bit more exiting cause this is boaring

  • Always remember ham radio is regulated by the FCC and has jurisdiction above all state laws. They may regulate the using of it in your car, but they cannot legislate it out of your car. so long as you are a licensed ham

  • Politicians are ignorant people who we pay and allow to tell us what to do.

  • America, listen to this man. !

    from Paul Pedrazza in NM

  • OK , I did a search. Ham radio operators are exempt.

  • Whatever happened to this proposed law?

  • I agree, and i also feel you, its not only Oregon state, but more states are taking on this stupid infraction law, you are right people don't know what they are doing. and there is nothing like shooting your self in the foot.... TWICE!, they need to define Cell phone ops from 2-way radio ops, that is the way to go... 73 brother, enjoyed the video and we all stand strong. De K4eeZ

  • BULL SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I can understand cell phones being illegal to use while driving. They are not designed to be used in cars. They require to much effort to use while driving but CB and ham radios are designed for use while driving and are not as complicated to use. They should continue to be used in cars.

  • A great video and a clear message to all ham radio operators that this will not stop in oregon. It will spread to other states.

We must ban together and with the help of the ARRL, prevent state & federal goverment from banning mobile 2-way radios in the vehicle. Its only a matter of time when other state politicans want to introduce the same ban on mobile 2-way radios in the name of safety. there is no record showing that talking on a 2-way radio is hazardous to you or other drivers.

  • 5 stars. well put. 73.

  • no two way in a vehicle? cops are gonna be breaking the law all over in oregon

  • The law of unintended consequences strikes again! I'm sorry to hear that Oregon hams have to deal with this misguided legislation. Maybe it's time for a revision in the democratic process that would make it both harder to create and easier to repeal "dumb laws." I would consider a government actually based on reason to be an improvement over the present mess. At any rate, you have an excellent series of video presentations with exceptionally high production values. Thank you!

  • That is Ridiculous! They say they do this out of "SAFETY" yet in the long run it is compromised further!

    Thank you for this video!

  • Such a great video!!

    A moment of Clarity!

  • What a moving video...thanks for posting it.......73's DAVE (M0OGY) North Lincs UK

  • Amateur Radio lives on and saves lives!

I wonder what the police are going to do for their cars if there is such a ban.....will they be ticketed for using their form of police communications? Such as the radio they talk on, the laptop computer they try and type on while driving, reaching for their switches to activate their siren or lights and talking on their cell all at the same time while driving. Next time your driving beside them take a look at all the distraction in their cars.

  • Great video

  • very good vid opened my eyes!

  • thats ur tax dollars at work! Really, what the legislators are looking for is mor dollars. It does not matter, under or over the table. Legislation to ur liking requires

money. The US is free but legisture is an entirely different animal. Thats not right but in this tainted world, it happens.

  • Let's face fact Jer,

The Government is involved with too many things. Doesn't matter who is the President. It matters that they the legislators are thinking of themselves only.

Good Luck, God Bless and Good Night.

  • Great video with an important message for the ignorant. Thanks Jerry

  • That's outrageous! I used to really love this state, but it just keeps getting worse with these ridiculous bans + added taxes on EVERYTHING. Oh, well, it's only 2 mi. to the border.

  • Everytime you talk about an important topic like this I keep thinking what a better world would we live in if we were more like you amazing Communicaster, thanks for teaching us a great lesson every time!

  • too bad no one has evented a hands free device for those types of radios. i see police driving, talking on cell phones, and trying to listen to their 2 way radio at the same time. i have never heard of an accident related to cb use. however these people that try to text on their cell phone while driving have caused countless accidents. what will the try to ban next, pagers?

  • This is false info the ban is for teen drivers 18 and under and drivers can only be issued a ticket if their talking on the device was the cause of a driving accident or citation.

  • Five pieces of legislation have been introduced in the Oregon

Legislature which have the potential to prohibit operating a two-way

radio device while driving an automobile. The three pieces are very

similar in how they are written and seek to expand the prohibition

passed in 2007, which was limited to drivers under the age of 18.

  • These

bills would expand it to all drivers. Specifically, HB 2377 and SB 319

appear identical, HB 2526 includes a specific fine amount, HB 2038

includes a suspension of their license upon repeat violations, and SB

329 would allow cell phone use if a hands free device is used, like in

Washington. Here is specific information on the current status of each

bill: I checked this prior to doing the video.

  • I can see them banning cell phone while driving, but ham radios, they are out of the frackin minds!!!!

  • I heard a theory about this that sounded Good 2 me, and that would be some

people might be going to use all these frequencies for another purpose?

  • QSL hopefully the ARRL will get some of that language written in with the law that specifically exempts ham radios.

  • Wow...I can't imagine not having my ham radio in my car. I don't own a cell phone so that would be my life line if I needed help. I'm wondering if phone patches even exist any longer. Yes...ham radio...it never fails!!! 73, W4ZPP

  • In the UK it's illegal to use a cell phone in a car unless it is hands free, but it's not illegal for drivers to carry them. This law came in after people were killed by drivers sending texts or holding the phone in one hand while driving. I agree about emergency situations and so it would be foolish to ban phones and radios from vehicles altogther.

  • QRM K6TPL QRM

Politicians don't understand; modern globally interconnected generations don't understand. And they won't understand. Until it all fails, and that one rogue ham who defied the law and kept his rig running becomes the ONLY means of communication they have.

Will it be too late? Maybe.....

  • Good one, Jer. I'd hope the politicians will make some provisions so that hams can stay mobile. As you say, they provide a community service and there aren't enough of them on the road to be a danger. Cell phones and texting I can understand.

  • Year and years ago I was a CB operator. That microphone you use to have around your broadcast area was re-wired by a Ham Radio Operator to work with my base station. I was amazed at the equipment he had, and the rotating antenna on his roof. His son was my buddy on CB. I jury rigged whip antenna's on my rented house. Couldn't use the roof. But to take two way communications out of automobiles is downright stupid. Great story Jer as usual. Keep broadcasting.

  • I can see banning cell phone use for mundane things, but I would hope that there will be some consideration made for communications made during emergencies.

  • the ham radio organizations needs too get on the t v or something this nuts jer :>|

  • do they not know how impossible that is gonna be too enforce stupid

  • I love the intro text :)

  • This is was a great video!! Very informing.
