Yeah, this Version just doesnt fit! Of course, the Russian one of '05 was the best one, but they also took the time (10h of material) to put the book into a great film. There are so many stories and details, you can't show them all in an hour!
as much as I love Master and Margarita, the Italian version of it does not sit well with me. I've seen all versions (3 Russian, 1 Polish, 1 Spanish, 2 Theater Productions), and I must say that the Italian version is the worst one by far. They tie so many stories together and do not have them in the right order. My philosophy is if you're going to do something, do it right or don't do it at all. My favorite one was 2005 Russian version of it.
As stated by the introductory speaker, The M&M is very difficult to make ino a film. It has elements of Kafka's Trial, Alice in Wonderland, The Naked Lunch and the New Testament, but it could be done sticking closer to this major, very excellent book by animation: after all, Fritz the Cat also has a cat that does very unfeline things. However. that would be financially a very risky undertaking.
It may suck, find it not that bad, but not much of a Boulgakov though...but it is definetely better than mentionned here Bortko version, a boring and tasteless kitsch.
This adaptation is a little... insane, but I enjoy the twist the director gave in the screen play. The character's all got together at rehearsal of a play? There is something cool about the visual of that. Off record: it sounds awesome in Italian!
Although the film itself has received criticism for straying too far from the novel the score by Ennio Morricone is one of his most beautiful and should be more widely recognised.

I love the book, but film is odd. Tognazzi is great actor and music fits perfectly, but it is not Bulgakov.

I fully agree. The subject is rather a political one and would not attract the
millions who watch Harry Potter, for example. ;-)

This was daring for the time, but this version is far of from latter versions. Read the book, don't bother with this version.
