free as in freedom you real dont know much if you know any thing you wood know that free softwear dose give the souse soz about the spelling but you should say sorry about thise vido you are just luck rms did not see this.
He knows a lot more then you think, and he's tried out many flavors of Linux. He uses Linux live CDs instead of installing them. He knows a think or two about computers, but never boasts to know everything. >.>
Free means you get the 4 freedoms defined by the Free Software Foundation and not all Open Source is non-propitiatory. Not everyone can reuse open source code any way they want.
You consider yourself to be some sort of guru of technology and computer culture, but you're clearly dumb as shit.
Open source sees having the code open as a bussiness advantage. Free software sees it more has one having complete freedom over thier software with out having someone restricting them from seesing the code. You can even Charge for it so long as you release the source code. I would read the GNU licence Richard stall is the one who created it. It explains what free software is. Here is the google free software foudation there is more information there.
Yea free software is similar to open source Sharper guy has said. The term is comonly used by Richard stallman. And he describe free as in free speech. As mentioned.
for example Flash would be considered freeware. Gnash which does the same funtion is free software but also could be considered open source. Open Source and free software have diferent philosophy. Free software says that all code should be avialble. Open source states that closed andpen source are merly a choice.
Free Software is difficult to understand because people mistakes it to "Free as beer" and not what it means, "Free as speech". Thats why it is better to mention the Free software means same thing as Libre Software. The user is always free to use the software, develop it and sell it. Only thing what they are not allowed to do is to deny the access to source code from those who gets the binary version. Or deny from others the same freedom as you got. Open source has same thing, in different point.
Free software is the concept of Stallman and GNU, the whole copyleft thing and 4 freedoms and stuff, not freeware. Both things are totally different. I think you should correct your explaination because you use to be very accurate, but this time wasn't the case
I dont agree with the free software part theres lots of software that does not come with it's source code.
And I woudn't be so sure about the run software for any purpose part too:
even with free software there can be terms of use.
Go install a free program and go see the text where you usually skip and check the right box (usually Yes I agree) to install the program. By doing so, you agree with the conditions of using the software.
That part usually tells also if you can redistribute or not.
The term free software is ambiguous: it can refer both to the price and the freedom of the code/program. For the second meaning, see the Free Software Foundation [fsf . org] or [gnu . org/philosophy] for information on the FSF's distinction between free and open source.
Open source = A software that has a made available public source code that anyone can edit and modify with the right skills. Most open source software is also free.

free software and freeware arent the same thing.
Free software has a lot in common with open source but is more "open"
In other words, free software follows the GNU License to a T.

Free Software (free as in freedom) isn't the same as freeware (free as in free beer)!!!
free software (free as in freedom) was later renamed to open source software to avoid confusion with freeware(free as in free beer).
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it's like this.

Free - with free software you can:
0 - run software for any purpose
1 - study how the program works, and modify it to your needs (ie, you can get the source code)
2 - gives copy's to your freinds
3 - give modified copies to you freinds
open source software - software which is developed in the open source development model, usually meaning source code is available.
freeware - Software vendor has complete control over the software but chooses to distribute it a zero cost.

Same with non-open source, you just don't hear about them as much because not many people know about them.

Open source projects rule.
Why is Wikipedia the best site ever made?
Because the users can modify its content.
Why does linux rule?
Because its open source.
etc...
