@VGYugo There might be a reason as to why people automatically think Muslim jarane. The people that tend to identify themselves as Bosnians in foreign countries are nearly always Muslims. A Bosnian calls himself a Bosnian at all times not just when it suits him in a certain argument or agenda. Doesn't matter if you're Muslim, Catholic or Orthodox. Unless you have migrated from a different country if you're born or your ancestors are from Bosnia then you are Bosnian/Bosniak.
