  • great video..wish there were more like this where the review is actually in a pub..adds to the moment. cheers!

  • Good informative video. I've just viewed one about how to pour the "periect" pint of Fosters so thanks for restoring my sanity.

  • I'm seeing this more and more in my area. I'v enjoyed all of the ones I'v had.

  • Avery, I liked this video. What was that beer next to it? GSB????

  • @nige4958 it's GCB - Good Cheer Beer - Google will send you to the info

  • Great video Zak! That ale looks fantastic!

  • @mlaudio72 - that's really one to track down. They casked it especially for North, but it's great in bottle too.

  • Long Live Cask Ales! Cheers!

  • @DenisLD Cheers to you too, Denis

  • @ZakAvery The North Bar looks amazing, by the way!

  • i'll tell the story...cause everybody has to start somewhere;on my last day of my first trip to england>>>planned to try this cask ale(forget).when i got to the pub,i was told that the beer still needed time to "settle".anyways...10 minutes of begging didn't change anybodies mind and i left the pub w/only a good lesson learned!

  • @qchome that's right, as Matt mentions in the video, it can take up to 48 hours for a cask to be ready to serve - if you hit an unlucky streak, there may be nothing for you to drink

  • cask ale rules! Mahar's in albany has six casks and they're always good, hard-to-find beers.

Love the on-location videos, Zak. Keep up the good work!

  • @Chad9976 thanks Chad - I'm going to try to do another one this week.

  • god bless england.

  • @popebenadict16 and the Queen. And Roger Protz.

  • I've been lucky to try a fair amount of cask conditioned beers in New York City. Some of the best beers I've had were served from a cask.

    Cheers!

  • @Tsalts don't you guys have a Manhattan cask ale festival in September? I just missed out on my last trip - left about 10 days before it started.

  • Mmmmm, I want me some of that ale.

I'm leaving for Scotland next week and I'm really looking forward to it. Any beers that you recommend me getting (aside from Scottish ones) that I can get a hold of there in Edinburgh or Aberdeen?

  • @yuichituba Well, I think you'd be better of concentrating on the Scottish beers to be honest. One favourite of mine is Twisted Thistle from Baelhaven brewery - that would be worth tracking down.

If you're an iPhone user, you could download the new app from Cask Marque that will point you to the best pubs for cask beer.

  • Cool! Thanks so much for your suggestion. I'm gonna check that sucker out when I'm out there.

  • @yuichituba Hello, if you go to Aberdeen, i would reccomend Visiting 'The Prince of Wales' pub (it's Located in the City Centre) They have at least 4 or 5 cask ales on Tap, one Beer worth Trying is 'Ossian' It's Really very Good!

'The Grill' pub also has really good cask ales! :D

  • @stardog1982 Thanks for the tip. I didn't make it up to Aberdeen, but I did get to try the Ossian on cask. It was very very good. Probably by far the best UK ale I had from there. I also got the Lia Fail and that was quite good too.
