  • did danzig know that Cash was a christian?

  • I thought about getting this tattoo a big red 13 r

  • what happened to the video of Cash playing this and giving credit to Danzig? It was here a year ago and now I can't find it.

  • saint of killers .Preacher Comix.

  • @0warrenwrestless0 I always thought God's Gonna Cut You Down was better suited to the Saint of Killers

  • They all go down in a burning ring of fire.

  • happy friday the 13th

  • GREAT GREAT GREAT,,,, what can i say more....

  • question is danzig the original singer writer of this song....amazing!

  • @satanschild1974 Danzig wrote it for Cash specifically, apparently in only 20 minutes. He later released his own version of the song on the 6:66 Satan's Child album.

  • This is just beautiful. Danzig is one of the best songwriters in my opinion.

  • Play "Glenn Danzig- The Morrigu " on this song, at the same time. it works..creepy!

  • Probably The best Glenn Danzig song's

  • Words can't describe what Johnny Cash's voice stirs in me. Truly the voice of America, the likes of which we'll never see again.

  • 666 likes...Interesting.

  • it's "a number" Johnny

  • The man was truly a master of music, He could anyones song and out done them R.I.P. Warcry who cares who made the song Johnny out did them by far. He was a man that should you could a song and make it where people enjoyed listening to it. I am not bshing any groups I enjoy music, Primus to Parton the blues etc. And by the way, don't worry what others think enjoy whatever music that sounds good to you.

  • The man was truly a master of music, He could anyones song and out done them R.I.P.

  • Only one man can take any song and make it his own, Cash.

  • @TribalWarChief This song was written for him

  • reminds me of lennons working class hero

  • Here's another news flash for all the nay-saying douchbags. Danzig also wrote for Roy Orbison. Was the first artist to have Groups like Marilyn Manson and Korn on stage in their infancy. And not to mention the fact of 9 studio albumns, 2 Aria, own label, comic book label should prove his artistic genius.

  • @9chaos1forever1 Yes he his espically to have people like jonhhny cash ask him to write a song for him and even to get his firt aria album to number one on the charts

  • legend.

  • Got the number thirteen tattooed on my neck....

  • full respect to Johnny cash..but the thing that annoyed me with johhny cash (may he rest in peace :,( ) was i heard people listening to this song and the song "hurt" and 1. asking who Danzig was and 2. saying how NIN's version of hurt came after Johnny cash's version, jesus christ even if it isnt your style you may not like metal, heavy rock, punt etc. atleast give credit were its due theres no denying some of the best song writers are within them genres, songs like "hurt" are proof of that.

  • @Warcry667 Definitly. people seem to think that metal has no artistic value. They are simply closed minded fools.

  • @9chaos1forever1 Most people ascoiate metal as screamo ( wich is stupid but) or bands like mettalica they don't relize that Bands like Danzig use more than just guitar bass and drums for their song. I mean Metal is actually the most artistic for of music and society wants to put it down or make fun of it because it's diffent than this Electronica Bull shit suffling music. Alot of this is also true for punk rock, rockabilly, psychobilly music

  • @Warcry667 Man, people who don't know who made "Hurt" must be very young or very old.

  • @SnipersZoo What does that have to do with anything? I know Danzig wrote it for Johnny Cash, in about 20 minutes, for Cash's first project with Rick Rubin: "American Recordings". Since Johnny Cash was the first to perform/record this, then this version is the original and Danzig's version (released 5 years later) is technically the cover although Danzig wrote it.

  • Those are the full lyrics cash wouldn't sing the ones so those were omitted from this version

  • Could not describe the hardship of life better.

  • Glen and Jonhny.

    Brilliant.

  • This song is Satanic!!!!!!!!! ~Killuminati~

  • AWSOME!

  • RICK RUBin.. You made him course through all time forever!

  • i like this. we;'ll meet again.. iI wont back down VOTE down

  • i like this. we;'ll meet again

  • Your lyrics are way off... Better luck next time.

  • @mindlessfreaXXX You could have put that in a kinder way...you could've just ruined someones day. Think about the words you place together to form a sentence and make sure they only bright people up, not thee opposite.

  • @aalissaa5 -.-

  • i just saw a website the other day talking about how rock music is the most satanic thing ever known, and it criticised cash for collaborating with "A KNOWN SATANIST, GLENN DANZIG". and i thought, my god youve never even read the bible...

  • i prefer this version and the legendary raw deals one...

  • I'm an agnostic.. but Johnny has the voice of a God..

  • @Hope2009pc agnosticism doesnt address whether or not you believe in a god. this is a misconception.

  • @Hope2009pc

I'm an atheist and his spiritual-tuned songs send chills up my spine.

He's a legend and will always be.

  • @Hope2009pc

****er you even don't know what does agnostic mean...

  • @Hope2009pc Make sure everyone knows you're agnostic, we wouldn't want people thinking you're one of those religious people.

  • @Hope2009pc You do realize saying you're agnostic says nothing about whether you believe there's a god or not. There are both agnostic atheists and agnostic theists.

  • @Colonelloki Agnosticism is neither the belief or disbelief of god without viable proof, therefore, no there is not Theists and Atheists.

  • @DemericktheJuggalo Agnosticism says that there is no way to prove whether or not there is a god. That says nothing of the belief of whether or not there is a god. To answer that question the answer is yes you believe there is a god (theist) or no, there is not a god (atheist). They are two separate answers to two separate questions. Therefore you can be an agnostic theist or an agnostic atheist. Read up.

  • @Hope2009pc and song from Satan (Glenn Danzig) ;)

  • Danzig did it better

  • Nick 13 played this (didn't sing it) at the beginning of his concert, and I fell in love with it. Amazing song! <3

  • I fucking love Johnny Cash but i like Danzigs way better then this song, Personally i love Johnny Cash cover of Springsteen's on Fire, That is a great Cash Cover, Cash rocks and will forever be Number one to me.

  • @hambone9119 This isn't a cover, really. It was written specifically for Johnny Cash by Glenn Danzig at the request of Rick Rubin. Danzig didn't record an album version of it until 5 years later.

  • Danzig wrote this. And he does not suck. he kicks major ass. And he'll rip your throat out with his teeth.

  • @ziggylover1231 dude danzig rules as does cash I prefer his 1983 Album Johnny 99 over any of his american albums with exception Of American 4 that album is so so dam good.

  • Johnny cash. Amazing! The heartache in this mans voice....danzig might have wrote it but it touched home in this mans voice. R.I.P.

  • Written By Glenn Danzig, what a legend!

  • Danzigs' version sucks

  • @TheJFKassassin stupid

  • @666tripleskategod666 No youuuurrr stuuupid....stuuupid :P

  • @TheJFKassassin i agree. danzig sucks

  • I am so stoked Danzig wrote this song for Cash. It's almost too perfect.

  • @XTIMExTOxRISEX Its so unreal, perfect... I'm amaized

  • @XTIMExTOxRISEX your an idiot, they remade the song in memory of cash, smdh

  • @johncashpolarbear It was recorded by Danzig before Cash died. So yeah. You mad, though?

  • Comment removed

  • @johncashpolarbear Johnny cash asked Danzig to write him a song (this one) because he said that he felt Danzig knew how to write with pure soul and passion, Danzig re-recorded it as a tribute because Cash was a huge influence to him .. Danzig also wrote a song for Roy Orbison and has talked about re-recording that as a tribute as well

  • I wish Cash had sung over Danzig's version with Danzig's melody. Best of both worlds.

  • Great song, but Danzig does it better. Johnny's best cover is Hurt.

  • Your lyrics are in the wrong order.

  • this is awesome

  • @HuwGeeRection Oh your sooooo scary! Get a life nternet threats dont scare anyone. Your most likely an overweight sad lonely teenager, who just doesnt fit in so you try to act all scary and dangerous. By the way it's not wise to make terroristic threats online, especially in this day and age where everything is blown out of proportion. Hopefully you find some friends soon and possibly even lose your virginity. Good Luck keyboard jockey

  • @HuwGeeRection Threaten a Man's family? You're walking dog shit scumbag

  • How the hell can anyone dislike this?

  • I have 4 Johhny Cash cd's and i don't have this song. You know what this means? I need to get some more Cash

  • I was born in the soul of Patio Town.........(misery)

  • @slickfrenulum lmao dude :)

  • kinky

  • one of my favorites

  • You know what, If you write the song it can not be a cover. Only another version of it. If I would write a song then recorded it later there's no way in hell it's a cover!

  • @ExplosionBass Technically neither version is a cover since it was written by Danzig; but he did write it for Cash. And cash.

  • glenn wrote it for johnny then he did his own version afterward

  • PFR studios is a dumbass----------------Jambo

  • who in the fuck dislike?

  • @blastoriion thats literally what i just thought

  • This was in hangover 2 lol love the man in black

  • Who the fuck is the bastard who disliked this song? Lets flame them!

  • I love this version, but Danzig's version takes it too a deeper darker place. I loved the use of the song in The Hangover. I got goosebumps when that part came on in the theater.

  • @hortonheat1 I'm not even a big Danzig fan and that song was just DESTRUCTIVE at the beginning. I've heard scant few songs with that much monolithic power behind them. My favorite film opening of all time, and I'm one of those assholes that watches indie flicks and makes sure to check out everything up for Best Picture at the Oscars.

And that is HUGELY thanks to Danzig's rendition of this song.

  • Hail Danzig!

  • in't it funny how good lyrics have staying power and a good voice for th message in the song--wonderful

  • what douche disliked this?

  • @hauserandrewj I DID I like Danzig's more~

  • @lef7foo7 danzig may have written the song but johnny did it way better

  • @hauserandrewj We should hunt them down and fuck them hammer-style..whatever that means! :D

  • @hauserandrewj Seriously? WTF! Dislike? really? If you dislike go fuck yourself!

  • in my opinion one of the greatest songs ever written.

  • 13 on my neck till i die

  • One person shits sushine

  • GLENN WROTE IT FOR JOHNNY CASH i dont think johnny asked danzig to write it for him danzig wanted it to be johnnys song

  • @nofxrocker1290 theres an interview saying that he did ask glenn to write it for him :)

  • this is a good version, but I like the Danzig version better

  • @epinky2295 I think Danzig's version is just too....monotonous.

  • @dobiedub1 I like Danzig's more.

  • I love both versions equally, but this gives me chills.

  • the tune kinda reminds me of working class hero

  • Please People, Have Some Respect, It's JR Cash or Johnny Cash, Not Johnny C or John C

  • @RobbyLite95 exactly, what the hell is with this young generation abbreviating every god damn word, this is no a bloody text message!

  • @WesternMilita lol I'm young too, but... yeah, Fuck 'em

  • Amazes me how there can be someone who dislikes this song?!

  • THANKS JOHNNY...THIS ALWAYS HELPED ME FEEL MORE HUMAN

    I WAS NEVER ALONE !

  • Comment removed

  • as if i care which version is the cover. both versions are enjoyable so stfu...

  • Danzig also wrote "Come to Silver" for Cash but Cash never got around to recording it. Danzig's two versions, his acoustic and original, are both fantastic but damn I wish that Cash had sung it as well. What a perfect combination that you wouldn't expect!

  • @McGeckoWilson I had no idea! But you're right, Johnny Cash would have done an amazing cover of that song. I can only imagine..

  • @IkakuoShaowei good taste knows no age nor generation.

  • Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

    Country Hall of Fame

Songwriter Hall of Fame ...only one man has ever been elected into all three

    LIVE ON JOHNNY CASH,

the man, the myth, the legend.

  • barney wrote this......

  • the danzig version is darker, but thats kind of obvious!

  • @maidenrocks98 no i think Johnnys is way darker.

  • Danzig & JC have more in common than their fans want to consider. Neither were really "born in the soul of misery"... but they try to speak for us who were. They try to speak for those hanged and buried...and for those like me who haven't been caught.

  • The Danzig version of this song sucks, but this version is awesome.

  • @onlyelisha LOL It Funny Because Danzig Wrote It For Johnny

  • this is such a classic song. i love glenn's writing style, and its amazing hearing johnny sing it

  • @xshorty2dopex It's a dream come true isn't it ?( :

  • Rules

  • Why would i listen Danzig when i can listen to Johnny C???

  • I think Danzig plays this song in their every gig since last summer, at least I recall Glenn said in Sauna Open Air Tampere show that they played this live 1st time day before Tampere gig at Gothenburg Sweden. Correct me if I'm wrong at these stats, but nevertheless, Danzig dedicated this song to Johnny, a true Legend, and performed it perfectly. I'm glad I had the priviledge of witnessing that great moment in music history.

  • Johnny's covers always sound better than the originals.

  • @RideTheCatfish disagree i like danzigs better and i think his hurt cover is equally good to nin's

  • @22rawrrawr danzig and johnny cash's version of this song are equally amazing, i agree with you on nin's cover.

  • @RideTheCatfish This is the original.

  • Stop arguing about whos version is the best Glenn wrote it for Johnny. Both versions rock, Danzig and Cash got the two most unique voices ever.

  • Danzigs song is better

  • I think this version is way better than Danzig's even though he wrote it.

  • danzig wrote this song for johnny cash

  • @danzig7766 danzig is awesome been a fan since the 80s

  • ''Bad luck wind been blowin' at my back

I was born to bring trouble to wherever I'm at'' - Glenn Danzig

  • Glenn made this song, Johnny sang the cover...albeit brilliantly.

  • Danzigs version's way better

  • Johnny Cash and Glenn Danzig are among my favorite musicians:D

  • I was lucky enough to see Johnny Cash live when I was in 2nd grade with my grandparents. This song is too great!!!

  • @MistahBlonde808 He sang at my grandparents wedding (two poor sharecroppers) before "he had a name".

  • Dude i'm totally rubbin this in my dads face

  • It's funny.. I always thought I didn't like old school. I don't like Beatles, I don't like Iron Maiden. I always took for granted, that the oldies was so much more than a couple of bands.

And I LOVE this song. It's so amazing. I don't know. It almost breaks my heart when I hear it.

  • damn i've been here

  • Danzig played this song for the first time ever at Sweden Rock Festival. And yes, it was great!

  • The Man in Black. The legend. He wrote the book on being the dark horse.

  • johmy cash has that cool old vioce that makes the song sound cool.

  • I like it. Some might find it disappointing because it is just a guitar and a voice not all the other instruments et. I prefer music like that, so I guess its all in what you like

  • Well, I totally agree with you, I think that acoustic sound of this song is so natural and genuine and harmonizing so much with Johnny's voice that it makes you feel like you are wandering somewhere in desert with your good horse, leather boots, bottle of whiskey and memories, while the wind slightly touches your hair. Unfortunately you won't find this in present-day POP-music.

  • Can't find the other version by Danzig all the ones I get are not working because 'copyright' problems, can someone send it to me please! lol

  • wasn't this in the hangover

  • @Josh29MH

yeah, can't remember exactly when in the movie but i can recognize the song.

  • after the opening little scene, during the credits i think.he ripped it, his vocals are amazing.cant seem to find it on utube though \m/

  • danzigs version was

  • The Danzig version isn't a cover, Glenn wrote this song for Johnny.

  • @PFRstudios FUCKING RIGHT GLENN WROTE THIS.

  • @PFRstudios u right..it's about time some one knows
