I'm a big supporter of the FairTax. It'll eliminate enough wasted overhead costs of the current system to provide like $1800 for every person in the country, counting compliance and filing costs. The poor would still pay zero in taxes, without even having to wait in lines. The tax burden would be spread wider, because illegals and criminals would finally be contributing.
Also to the idea it's 30% is false, because there just going by what people spend right now. The added income will get people spending that income making it 23%. Also that was only to meet the revenue of 2007. Now I think we should have it 18%. We could balance the budget by getting rid of the Department of education, energy, commerce, agriculture, transportation, welfare, medicaid, medicare, and Social Security. Through both privatization and letting state and local government take control.
The Fair Tax will bring back jobs, because it gets rid of taxes on American businesses. And spending will increase on made in America goods. Now I'm a serious conservative who wants to get rid of most government. So I'd put it at 18%. Now 22% embedded tax on American products and now people have no income tax. So American products will see a 4% decrease in price and people will get there tax dollars back. So yah millions of American jobs will be created on this.
Huckabee got it right with the Fair Tax and Hunter got it right with trade. Now I'm just going to put it out there Huckabee/Hunter Jr. 2012. That ticket would work very well.
Wow could the last response be more ignorant and ill-informed. FAIRTAX means tax on what you buy at the same percentage as anyone at any income level. With this tax you would be the first in many years to truly OWN YOUR HOME AND LAND no tax on it. There is a rebate every month on taxes spent to all low income families for cost of living. A check every month not one at the end of the year. NO land tax,no gas tax,no sales tax, all taxes in the CONSUMPTION TAX/FAIRTAX. No death tax, DUH!! GET IT
Seriously, if you want to tax the citizens more, just increase the interest rates of banks, loans, and subprime mortgages to suck the money out of the people, just like Hoover did.
Think for yourselves, this is just plain logic, they want to implement this because it benefits the upper burgoise class from paying taxes based on a percentage of their income, which is millions to them, instead it will be sucked from the middle and lower classes.
Yeah, Hoover should have gotten involved in an overly bloody war while beating down any with a dissenting opinion like Wilson. or just hide the debt behind a quasi-private government run bank like FDR's Fannie Mae or Nixon's Freddy Mac. Hell, he could of sent away the Jews like Hitler tried. (psst FDR sent 'em back to be killed.)
In Hoovers defense (and I'm really not a fan of Hoover ) sometimes you got nothing but shitty choice's.
Keep in mind 30% would not be on current prices. Prices would dramatically decrease..and then tax. So you would be paying just a bit more on something you would now.
GOP is a moron on the fair tax, The real tax would be 34-39%, are your all willing to that tax on all goods and services. 34% on a new are, to see a DR. Gas, Congress will never pass it , its all political talk, to many special interest. ( drug dealers ship there money over sea) The devil is in the detail.
Read "The FairTax Book" By Neal Boortz for full understanding of the facts and why this is a great idea.
While it's true that economic growth would be faster under the FairTax than under the current code, most tax reform proposals would result in more economic growth. What sets the FairTax apart from the rest of the tax reform proposals is its impact on international trade and investment. The FairTax would make the U.S. one of the best places in the world for business investment.
I am a Democrat, but Duncan Hunter has my vote! (great response to free trade act) Makes me feel like there are people in Washington working for the Low-Middle class like me!
Wow look at those stock prices Wow! Alcoa at 40.00 it traded for like 6 bucks in 2009. Wow
