  • Why TF!!!! WOULD YOU DO A VIDEO AND NOT SHOW THE RESULTS OF YOUR WORK?....... YOU SHOOT ALL THIS TO SAY WHAT???

  • Why don't you just put washers on the bolts? I just put little washers on each bolt, fits perfect and super tight. Don't cut the bolts, that's just stupid. Plus, if you ever want to put gears back on the bike, take the washers off, bolt the other ring on, the end.

  • can i use a single ring crankset?

  • my bolt was gay not straight, so it been fuckd up :)

  • wouldnt it be easier to put a "washer" to fill in the space instead of cutting

  • @ShowAlmosteverything thats what I did, worked fine

  • Is that a Bingo or a Bango at 7:08?

  • its not a chain ring by the way its a sproket

  • Umm, it costs like 5 dollars to get shorter bolts, they're called stack bolts and ALL bike shops have them. Saves you a lot of work and they'll be way better than the ones you cut yourself.

  • he has a lisp

  • Yeah just use washers...

  • So you really did a 7 minutes video to explain how to unscrew and cut 5 bolts?

  • hahaha...I'm pretty new at this but I imagine this is the most ridiculous way to go about converting your crankset.

  • "All you gotta do is cut a few nuts."

  • nice camera work there.. :P

    still, thanks for the info!

  • bingo bango bingo... Done n DONE!!

  • I have a crank with to 2 rings I took off the but only the small ring could come off is it ok if I jus use the bigger ring?

  • @zombieluna69 It All Depends What Is On The Back Wheel , Look Up gearing ratios for Fixies/Singlesppeds On Google And You Should Be Grand

  • I went to Home Depot and bought washers. problem solved.

  • instead of cutting the chain nut things, jus buy some washers that fit, saves time.

  • @bboyevan808 where can i ge them cheap???

  • hahah u sound like ICE T

  • This is stupid You can get the right bolts for like $10

  • yo yo yo dont get park tools they are over priced and stuff....get a full set bike tool maintenance kit for 25 books it mooch beeter

  • Bingo... Bingo Bango.

  • i wanna covert my mountain bike into a fixie in bad shape and if tats workes my 5 speed racer very heavy but good.can i buy cheap fixie wheeles and a chain shortener tool or can i dismantle wheel and change it.tanks

  • yeah i didn't have any tools so i had to do it old fashion style by just using my hands to bend the thing over and over until the thing snapped in half.

boy did i feel accomplished after that.

  • why wouldnt you just buy a set of new bolts for single speed cranks? Seriously, they're like $6

  • @cramesfrakson a new beefier chain ring and bolts would cost 24 bukcs

  • 6:04

    he really said that

xD you've got to fuck gently :p

  • instead of cutting it could you use a washer in between?

  • im gay

  • I just gring the nuts down.....alot faster to just hold them with a vise-grip and grind it down enough to give a tight fit.

  • You gotta fuck gently ?

  • seriously just buy the right size bolts. this guy is an idiot.

  • you could just pay the $4 for new bolts...

  • yeah, bust that nut..

  • To lighten your bike

  • you know you can get those crank bolts for like 5 bucks for a set of 5. =\.

  • why do this, like taking a gear frum yur car

  • nice!^_^

  • i like my nuts loose and all over the place

  • This is completely retarted. get the propper bolts for $1. Honestly. lmao.

  • this guy is a dumb ass you can get new ones for a buck a biking shop or just use a washer

  • cant you just use a spacer instead of cutting

  • u can also just use small washers it is alot easier

  • If you have an old BMX crank lying around just rob the crank bolts off that.

  • really cool video, I'm converting myself at the moment. Is it possible to do this procedure without taking the crank off? Only taking it off seems like a bit of a faf in itself. Much appreciated.

  • You have to take the crankset off the spindle because you can't get the inner chainring over the spider.

  • he doesn't know how to file. Just push it one way, not back and forth, it ruins the file.

  • ever heard of washers

  • exactly

  • bingo bango

  • i was gunna say that lol

  • yes, finally someone understands that the best and safest bike mods are to be done with a hacksaw! just go to your local bike shop and sometimes they'll even give you some spare bolts free! just for asking. dont cut your hardware.

  • Good info, but--to be blunt--the video work sucks.

  • metal washers....

  • HA!

  • haha let the nut find its way XD and itl fit right in, a she said is in need XPPP

  • you also can file 3mm off

  • If you still think that short bolts are too expensive. Say $5 for a set, go to a Bolt and Nut Company and say these are the ones taht are in there, I want the same ones, just shorter, and they will walk out the back and grab the right ones for you, usually small non high tensile or stainless is about 10-40c each

  • "now you could go onto ebay or something and buy some shorter bolts..."

thats what most of the smart people do... yeah but if you like wasting time and energy your method will definitely work

  • thats what the lazy people do smart one...

If you were smart you'd save some bucks. I know its only 5 bucks but come on.. you could donate that or something.

  • am a wrong or would a washer eliminate the whole nut cut step?

  • seriously, like $5 for a set of 5 shortened chainring bolts!! WAY easier!

  • thats real this is hella ghetto lol

  • "IM GOING TO CUT THE NUT".. LOL!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • there are so many "that what she said" moments in this video.

  • couldnt you use washers instead of cutting the nut?

  • zzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • anyone high?

  • youtube tweeted this

  • I can't believe YouTube tweeted this!!! wtf, the most controversial Biketube video..haha. You can also do this with washers or they make shortened crank bolts!! see comments!

  • @EverythingsNonsense thank you! a fucking washer is soooooooo much safer and odds are your just going to fuck up the threads wtf

  • I use a pair of vise grips to hold the nuts, then belt sand them or grind them down. This also prevents marring the threads or having to use a tap/die on the threads. Grind a small 45 degree bevel on each nut. Just a quick rotation will do it.

  • wow this is sooo hard !

  • That is Totally what she said..!!!

  • who said what ?

  • its a Famous joke ...Your supposed to say that when someone says something Sexual...

in that case...You said..Wow this is so hard

    i replied..(that's what she said.)

Search youtube for (that's what she said)

    its a Joke.!!!

  • You explaining that is FAIL! You are FAIL! Antilulz FTL!

  • haha get it now :P nice one

  • instead of wasting time cutting bolts just use washers!!

  • Cool vid but why not thread on the nut and use a grinder?, probably be faster, easier and straighter...

  • hahah great acting joe

  • how do u take the crank itself on the bike ?

  • yes but any tips on the back wheel? Super demonstration on the crank but is buying a new wheel just going to be the nessecity when it comes to the back?

  • Hw wants to cut hes nuts!!!??? Hahahaha lol XD

  • sugino.

it looks like a flower. i have that crank set

  • use washers..save your energy...and you dont have to worry about a vise if you dont have one

  • So much easier eh? Looks a little tidier this way though, wouldnt bother me though

  • If the threads do get messed, wind the bolt in from the other end and push them out. problem fixed!

  • i had a bash guard i wanted to take off my crank...same problem with the space..i just found so thick washer/spacers and used thos

    works great

  • someone needs to buy a dremel.

  • thx good tip to save money and lulz at she bang bang

  • wouldnt a washer do the same thing?

  • yeah thats what i did

i colored my washers or just get some nice colored ones

would make them look a little bit nicer

  • awesome thanks man!

that chord wasnt too disonant by the way. couldnt hear real well haha. it was probably just a d7 haha

  • umm wat

  • Thanks man. This really helped me out.

If anyone out there has any advise for a guy like me (just trying to convert an old peugeot tour de france bike into a single fixed speed road bike).

  • just buy 5mm chain ring bolts, cutting them i just a waste of time

  • sha bang bang

  • thanks man you helped me alot. thanks your a big help!

  • There is always a best way to do something and a retarded way. This guy went full retarded.

  • dude just be shure not to bust a nut

  • can you just leave all 3 on the crank and not waste time

  • 7 minutes on a unncessary video, doing this is common sense if you look at the crank

  • might be faster and smoother to sand the nuts down. good work =)

  • dood that is BINGO BANGO X'D lawls thanks your a big help...

  • dont cut the fucking bolts just put a washer on the back of if dumfuck

  • hahah agreed that's exactaly what you should do

  • haha ya. so much easier. thats what i did.

  • bingo.. bingo bango aha

  • Could you teach me how to make the video look like that? My video is always blurry and I feel like I&TBPSQUOm not uploading it right.

  • hey thanks for the help, worked perfectly. im only 13 so i dont have 15 dollers to spend on some bolts so this really hepled me out

  • if you do want to bother going to a shop or ordering it online then this is a the best way to do it. looks like hard work cutting through those bolts though.

  • I just added five 3mm washers O O O O O Its saves heeps of time and you dont have to cut the chainring bolt. Want more advantages? Well there is no risk of a damageand bolt from cutting, or pressing it in a vice? FYI: If this system fucks up at top speed it is only your life thats at stake. Anyway, With the washers you can change back if you want. They costed like 20 cents. You wanna save 20 cents ? They look cool too. Next time use your brain.

  • I have absolutely no problem with washers, really! But I've done this on a few crank sets and never had a problem. Ever, even at full speed, but maybe my full speed is not greater than your full speed. Who knows, but seriously use washers if you want, and I would not suggest this to anyone who hasn't used a hacksaw before. To each his own.

  • hey can i do it with a one piece crank? will it work?

  • Hey, where can I get the washers? Nice idea too!

  • Yep, just buy the right sized crank bolts - get Track ones = cheap as.

Another more important thing - put the crankring on the OUTSIDE of the crank spider. It'll look way better and the chain will still line up fine. If it doesn't then change the position of the spacers on the back wheel. Chains are designed to cope with different angles if it doesn't line up exactly anyway.

  • It is much easier (and smarter) to buy the right chainring bolts, but unless the bottom bracket is swapped out, the chain will most likely not line up fine. It'll be noisier and more prone to falling off. You can rearrange spacers on a cassette wheel, but on a single speed/fixed hub, there's not much room, and single speed chains aren't really designed to make up for bad chainline.

  • any tips on replacing a 3 ring crank and building it down to an 18 tooth ring?

  • haha, hahaha, thanks for the feedback. But hey man, we are in a recession! Maybe people want to save 8 dollars!

  • Great tips!

  • "cut the nut"... okay

  • Are those bolts specialized or could you just buy shorter ones @ Home Depot?

  • Crank bolts are pretty much standardized, but you probably couldn't get them at home depot. Any local bike shop should have some extras laying around they would probably give you. Most crank bolt were not made for single speed use though, thus the need to shorten them or use spacers.

  • WTF! What is with the spam attack??

  • wow there are an awful lot of spam comments on this vid

  • YOu need a bigger desk man...

  • good stuff man thanks

  • y not spend a dollar on washers from homedepot rather than cutting

  • Very true, you could do that, or you could buy shorter bolts, but what the hell, I had some time on my hands, and if you have the tools and skip watching some bs on tv for awhile then why not. I like the nice clean look of no washers too. To each his own.

  • very helpful video, thanks!
