@XsharkunX Nintendo won't repeat their mistake with Gamecube. Iwata reported they'll support the Wii even after the release of WiiU, and they're not just gonna ditch almost 90 million owners of the Wii. Plus the controllers of the Wii carry on for the 8th generation. And according to the tech demos (especially the Chase game), it seems like they'll be used much more often than the GC controller in Wii.
This video makes me think that there won't be new console this year at e3. At least not the one that everyone is expecting. I don't know, I hope it is real, but wouldn't NIntendo had at least commented on something. Hm
Nintendo has been making games for us since the NES. That was back in the 80's.
I remember i first got my nes in '85. It was the shit. Although I do enjoy ps3/xbox 360 games a bit more ( more games suitable for me, and more friends to play with ), Nintendo will always be number 1 in my heart.
"simply beefing up those graphics, will not let most of us see a difference"
so true, yet so many people cant see past that, and buy games based on graphics alone
oh well, they can have their graphics, ill take awesome games
i gotta wonder if nintendo knew just how big the wii would become when they first hinted at it
i mean its basically sold as much as the ps3 and 360 combined, and gotten to the point where sony and microsoft have to basically rip off nintendos ideas
They didn't know. They're actually pretty nervous whenever they release new hardware. They said that if the Revolution wasn't successful, they were screwed.
@bleachedmud oh yeah i definitely believe that...i mean considering they put all their effort into the wii, and specifically making their games utilize the motion controls
but nintendo has a great track record, and apart from the virtual boy, theyve never really had any big failures, so it was safe to say that nintendo was creating something that would have impact
and to be fair to the virtual boy, it was just too ahead of its time...but now the technology has caught up (ie. the 3DS)
@bleachedmud the thing was, that they were ALREADY pretty much screwed. the n64 and gcn both lost against sony, so the only thing they could do was take a different path. They were nervous but if they did what they had been doing, they were going to lose, with Wii they had a chance.
@jensssen oh ive been saying it for a long time...and so have alot of others
the sad thing is, these days, it seems that to be a "hardcore" gamer and have your opinion taken seroiusly, you have to say good things about sony and microsoft, and always look down on nintendo saying its a "kid" system
remember when wii introduced motion controls?
"thats just a gimmick," "its stupid," "no one will want to play"
@rockerseven I've seen many Sony/MS fans who hate Kinect/Move. Plus, the fans who like it might have seen how successful the Wii is by the time Move/Kinect were released.
we all need to do our part in making our voices heard, nintendo needs to know how much everyone loves this game and wants it to come back again. come on nintendo give us back earthbound again plz. its 15 years and e3 is coming up. if your going to e3 plz ask nintendo about earthbound we mustn't give up.
'The time when horsepower alone made all the difference IS over.' You don't have to like Nintendo, but you can't deny that they were right. And you cannot do anything about the fact that they are on the top right now. Graphics alone is not GAMING. That are many awful games with amazing graphics. I want to play fun games. For that, I don't need perfect graphics.
Indeed. This video actually means a lot to me for those reasons - games are games, not graphics. When you're in the middle of any game, you're focused on the game and having an awesome time.
I'm looking forward to DS2, which will likely be announced in June at E3, probly with a model or at least pictures. So far we know it'll have highly detailed graphics, and a motion sensor.
@outlawkelb The amazing mechanics of the Wii do make the game if used correctly. There's a reason why Sports Resort is so successful even though it was just another "button masher" if Sony made it before Move was made. Games can be fun if they are controlled perfectly and in a fun manner alone, whether it's a long and demanding game or a simple minigame. On the other hand, games with amazing graphics aren't necessarily fun. They're just an eye candy.
hahah dude the revolution was an awesome name back then,,,,anybody that followed the progress, like me, was disappointed when the name Wii was announced..
I'm really surprised Iwata talked about that early in 2004! I thought all the guesses about the new experience would only start after the E3 one year later, when Nintendo announced they couldn't reveal the controller yet.
Of course, these 2 minutes don't tell you a lot about the Wiimote. But in retrospect I wonder why it has been such a big surprise in 2005 and noone expected it, although Iwata gave a lot of hints ("like Nintendo DS")
Nintendo has given me countless fun, friends and entertainment hours, because it cares about how we interact with the game, not just how we shot someone in the head in 20 different ways with 50 different weapons.
I really hope that the next N console will be as powerful as a 360, but as intuitive as a DS/Wii
I do agree with Iwata. 7th gen graphics from the PS3 and the 360 are already much near perfect, so changing the interaction with videogames is a good step. If only Nintendo would force third party developers to decntly develop motion controls for their games...
its true sony and microsoft only care more about stupid graphics and shooting nntendo cares more about the gameplay and control of the player or players. thats why i love nintendo they have games for everyone.
nintendo people are the most intelligent ones. They are always a step forward than sony or xbox. And they are the ones who invented the new ways to play as the analogic stick or the wii.
I'm not understimating ps3 or xbox power, but I think nintendo is the only company who really cares in that the player have fun, and that is really important for me
then why don't they make more games for the hardcore gamers like myself? I've been with nintendo through thick and thin, and they're hardcore games are always my favorite (super smash bros is my favorite series of all time). Paper mario (1 and 2 only), pikmin, games like that always interested me. but now it seems they only care about the casual gamers and making money... and it makes me sad... the other companies suit the hardcore gamer, and i PRAY that nintendo will get back in the game!
I can't wait for the Nintendo Revolution to come out!

As demonstrated by the Gamecube.

Jeez, Nintendo was like seeing into the future. Not only is the philosophy correct, but it actually makes sense on a business level.

If it were anout realistic graphics then the PC owns all 3 consoles out of the water, the Wii has unique games, and that's why it's so awesome.

This is kind of ironic, considering whats to offer both on the wii shop and on store shelves.
