For years my local KFC had the little plastic tab just like you guys sing about on the fountain (yes, connected to the lemonade). It wasn't quite a ritual, but many times I would hear an elderly person standing at the fountain say, "Where's the water?", and so I'd show them the small but visible tab.

About a year or so ago the tab was removed, and now water is available in a separate dispenser at the front of the counter. (The senior citizens still ask, "Where's the water?")
