@18nationarmy It was two people- the entire New Zealand population is about five people, so I'd say its a good turnout. Both were just mesmerized watching Martin Freeman lick his lips repeatedly.
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, I like Martin's Bag!x
That has to be the most amateur press confidence I have ever seen. Its like shes introducing the local government admin awards. With a big budget movie you would expect abit of razzmatazz and the audience seem they have had their lunch interrupted they are so unenthusastic..
And when Sean from Eastenders said I am sure there is a link between Tolkien and New Zealand although he had been there. Yeah, right. I doubt the place entered his radar.
Is martin Freeman always annoyed or just too much serious? I wonder if its got something to do with me not understanding his british sense of humour, but really, for me he looks like he's always thinking "oh God, this stupid person is asking stupid things...."
@Neramy I'm pretty sure he quite often thinks that... but he has a very, very dry and British sense of humour and he can sometimes be very... let's say "mean" (which basically i just being British tbh). On the other hand he is a very genuine person who doesn't really take shit and will tell you what he thinks... so when he says he thinks he is good enough to step into Ian Holm's hairy feet, then he means it... when he says he loves the project and loves Sherlock as well... he means it, too!
aha. aha he is never serious, even when he means it. i have trouble figuring out wether he is a real arsehole of a idiot and then finding out he was joking all along, the thing that fools me is that he never cracks his poker face so i never know what to think.
I can't wait to see Richard Armitage as Thorin, I'm not really familiar with the actor but I think he is going to do great from what I seen in the trailer.
Such a same that Rob is obviously well leared in Tolkien lore as well as entusaistic about his role andhe LOST it WHY>??? KAzinksy my heart goes to you bro.
3D is great if it's done right (meaning if the movie is actually shot in 3D and not some shitty convertion). I'm not saying this movie needs 3D but if they use it, i'd trust this guys to do it right.
why does every one care about the 3D. You will hve the opportunity to watch the film in normal on 3D (TO SATISFY ALL VIEWERES!!!) so whats the problem?!?!?!?!?!
better to hve all the problems before shooting the film rather than while shooting it. the Wolfman tanked because too many ideas were shoved in as an afterthought after so many directors left while it was being made. The Hobbit has no problems so far in its production. They were ready to shoot when MGM said they were broke. So as long as there are no problems during the production I'm not worried one bit. I've also grown to like the look of the dwarves now better than before.
Also in the cast-- Benedict Cumberbatch as Smaug--very cool :) As James Nesbitt points out here, their BBC Sherlock series is outstanding--what fun it will be to find Freeman/Dr. Watson and Cumberbatch/Sherlock Holmes together in yet another adventure!
What a gracious group. Love Freeman's 'whatever...' re: 'the incredibly talented and big shoes of Ian Holm'@6:00. Holm (15 min in LOTR?) is a fine actor; so is Freeman. And his remarks on the 'curse'@8:10 are well-said: Shades of The Hobbit, when has a director had such an uphill battle?! 'Comical' is a tactful word for an Aussie group ('Smaug'?) stirring things up 'on behalf' of NZ. Fortunately Jackson, NZ, and the NZ actors union came thru. Here's wishing only smooth sailing to cast and crew!
If Return of the King won 11 Oscars and Peter Jackson's films keep getting better, I think I see the 85th Academy Awards having The Hobbit winning 15!!!
If I may have the audacity to ask, what's fishy with this 3D thing they got going? Everyone I've talked to have expressed huge disappointment about it. Does it push up ticket costs, or does it affect the performance on the "2D" featurette?
@RebeccaAnne88 I think they are so chill cause its a press interview...not a panel at comic con. xD But yeah, I get what you mean. It's weird not to hear fangirl cheering.
@RebeccaAnne88 Well... there will be a lot more enthusiasm in some months.. this is like 2 years before we can expext to see the film so it is hard to get hyped up.
@SWEmanque Yeah but i feel like people who would go to this thing 2 years in advance would be super enthusiastic nerds who love lotr. lol I feel like average people wouldnt go to this if they didnt love lotr you know?
@RebeccaAnne88 I think it is just the press and they are there because their boss told them to go there, not sure if any fan could just walk in there.
You know; One does not simply walk into New Zealand...
@Wierdoinc Yeah , that and The Silmarillon would be too comptex for film. I guess you're right. The Children of Húrin might make for some good films. I'd give that novel some time for a following of fans to really build and see if they want it made into films though.
@HellFireKane Exactly, the SIlmarillion is way way to complex for becoming a movie, it's like the bible of Tolien's universe :) But the Children of Húrin would be perfect for that sort of movie, I love that book really much, Túrin is such a strong dark, yet heroic figure. it would be awesome.
i dont know what to say about 3D.i mean i like it in some movies but in some its just plain bullshit.then again it would be nice to see Bilbo and Smaug talking to each other in Smaug`s nest and to see all that dwarf`s gold and treasure.but i dont know for now i could be satisfied for just plain movie.it can not fail because when you see The Hobbit in cartoon version you just know that Peter is going to do so much better
@Frontbulker I agree, I really wish they wouldn't try to do this movie in 3D... 3D is a lame fad thats going to sizzle out and fade away in the future anyway.
@Frontbulker Of course there will be an alternative to not view in 3D, but mate ... Jackson is shooting in true 3D (that is with double cameralenses for real peripheral vision), not the post-effects, headache-inflicting crap that has been circulating in Hollywood these last years. There's probably no reason to worry. :)
It was pretty funny hearing all the names!
