  • We all have bad history no matter what country we are but we need to correct the wrong by doing right for the future and not the past. History must be learned and to be proud of what you are, people of greatness. I wish I could see more of Ireland, England and Scotland. I have studied some of the history of all and do agree with the Irish for freedom. It has been to long for this country not to grow up as a free nation. The U.S. had it's history to, good and bad.

  • To the responds of ( elizamannion and howardg2010 ) Both maybe right in what you say and I have seen many countries with governments repressing and displacing people. Many governments think they are doing the right things for their people but must remember that if they ( all Governments ) say that they want peace and friendship and to treat ALL people equally then these governments need to practice what they preach and do this now. Stop bitching and work together and make it right.

  • @elizamannion. Well, if some of the English people dislike the whole lot of you back, then - the Irish, the Welsh, the Scots - is there any wonder? Why should I, due the accident of my birth, be the object of your hatred? I did not take any part in any repression, subjugation or displacement. Hate my government if you like, but hating me without reason is tantamount to racism. And judging the level of my eduction based on a single rant on the internet is just silly.

  • If this music is ever lost I will commit suicide!

  • ireland belongs to the irish end of

  • howardg2010- The victors write the history books mate and you need to expand your vocabulary swearing just shows how limited your education is. Learn some history yourself. I never said I hated the English but ask the Scots and Welsh what they think of the English and you will have a similar view. Act of the Union was an English thought process put into practise and which if the Scots have there way will be no more. Everyone has the right to self determination . Peace and Love to you!

  • @howardg2010 wind yer neck in you little bollocks.

  • "DEATH to every foe and traitor, whistle out the marching tune,

And ta-ra me boys for freedom, 'tis the rising of the moon."

Makes the hairs stand up on the back of my neck. Fuck the British and their Black and Tan army.

  • @malalai79 I'm British. With Irish blood. And I couldn't be prouder.

We don't all wish you imprisonment and subjugation you know.

Get over your bitterness and enjoy the music.

  • We Irish forgive but we will never forget the genocide perpetrated against our people Remember: Bloody Sunday, The Black and Tans atrocities at Croke Park,Tuam,Trim, Balbriggan, Knockcroghery, Thurles and Templemore AMONGST MANY OTHERS from Cromwell to NI. Mahatma Gandhi said "It is not fear of losing more lives that has compelled a reluctant offer from England but it is the shame of any further imposition of agony upon a people that loves liberty above everything else".Peace and forgiveness

  • @elizamannion2363 Fuck. Off. Should we English be crying about the fucking Vikings coming here, raping and pillaging? You Irish cunts sound like children with your bleating about this and that. I am of Irish heritage and I see shits like you spouting shit like this and it makes me fucking sad. Fuck off and die.

  • @howardg2010 You know, they did that to us too. And he DOES have reason to be angry about English people- read up on Cromwell. Don't get me wrong, though, I don't hate English people- just their government.

  • Comment removed

  • @elizamannion2363 Oh, I forgot... Fuck off, learn some history and come back.

  • death to every foe and traitor

  • I love the Dubliners!

  • he had a so a young voice...hard to believe he died before getting a voice which doesn´t sound like a 25-year old

  • I'm drunk

  • Funny my name is Shaun O'Farrell funny huh

  • @odinhorns That's awesome!

  • funny my name is Shaun O'Farrell too

  • I´m a friend of Irish and English and also Scotish, Welsh, Russian, Romanian, African poeple... I think, I´m a friend of the poeple in the hole world, not only by the rinsing of the moon, but also by the rising of the sun ;-)

  • Ireland for the Irish poeple.

    Greeting from Germany

  • @DieterFriedrich Germany is more of an enemy to Ireland than England at the moment. Germany and France are screwing over the Irish people!

  • played it this morning, made want to get out of the house with my pike upon my shoulder and kick some English ass!

    greetings from Romania!

  • @dogsbollocks11 Well said mate, get fed up with some of these fanatics, it's about the music 1st.

  • @KennyT1955 Funny but the song is about fanatics in your terminology

  • @dogsbollocks11 armchair warriors me fuckin arse,do you even listen to the words of these songs, they are about occupation/slavery/genocide/apartheid(LEST WE FORGET)im sure the jews have forgotten what was done to them(like hell)but we irish are supposed to laugh slap them on the back and say :have another pint:..FUCK OFF

  • @despuis has to end sometime, why pass on hate?

  • @theman1819 its not about hate, but its puzzling how some people who are british can listen to these songs(and clearly enjoy them) and not see the connection to what james connelly kevin barry and bobby sands died for, seems like a contradiction to me.hate is a waste of energy and time.old dogsbollocks no doubt did his bit for england in the 6 counties and now he,s enjoying LK ,(sure we irish are such an amusing people after all)not about hate but truth and rememberance

  • I am a human, one type out of millions upon millions of types of organisms. I live on this here one planet with all of you. I hope we can all find our places here and give generously of ourselves to one another and this planet.

  • Aryan Race? No, just a bunch of Harps fresh off the boat that scattered through the British Isles to America, Canada, Australia and New Zeland. It's an amazing thing -- the grand dispora of the Humn Race.

  • for the pikes must be together, at the rising of the moon

  • This has to be one of the GREATEST, most STIRRING songs ever produced by the Aryan race!

  • @Volksverhetz It was produced by the CELTS, not the Aryans. Celts are ANTI-Nazi.

  • @Volksverhetz

How cute - a telling name: so you're one stirring up the people with false informations. 'Dance, Idiot Dance!', as it was so nicely spelled out before. Sometimes English musicians may get it right...

  • I love these song!

cando un rising of the moon na galiza?

  • I love these song!

  • Some muppet has voted this down, don't worry the clown is deaf. Amazing performance by the lads.

Lookout muppet - death to every foe and traitor.

  • Great song.

  • Are you familiar with the NINA LAWS in America? There are some that say they never existed. Irish immigrants had a rough time. It was help wanted -- Irish need not apply. Posted in front Taverns and bars, the words, "No dogs and Irish" allowed. Dogs having preference over the Irish.

  • @ernstbecker1 John Lydon(better known as "Johnny Rotten" of the Sex Pistols, used "No Irish, No Blacks, No Dogs" as the title of his autobiography. He'd grown up in an Irish family in London, and those signs were all over England and.)

  • @KennBurch well no when rotten was growing up those signs were not there - and yeah I lived in london then and he was lying through his teeth. What a surprise.

  • and only 1 doesn't like this song.... what does that tell us about that 1 person?

  • @Jerseylespaul Is it me BOYO?

  • Irish people are very great. As a swedish viking im proud to have a lot in common with irishmen.

Hoist your banner high my brothers and sisters from the green island. Stand and be proud.

  • @Knasterreal1 WHAT THE FECKING HELL ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Knasterreal1 What?

  • @Knasterreal1 Vikings went about raping and pludering these isles what the feck do we have in common with you?

  • @Knasterreal1 I'm also Swedish (ethnically) and love Irish music

  • Who would send 5euro each to commission Bronze busts of the original Dubliners. Much needed for men who did so much for Irish Music..

  • i cant wait til i get my tenor banjo!

  • RIP Luke

  • Ah sure who cares anymore, are we not all European! My Granny and her family fought in 1916, and before i am sure! Bottom line is Ireland is an Island and as such should not have to give control of a portion of the Island to a foreign country that invaded the Island. We did in 1921 to avoid bloodshed, we appeased Britain by giving them the 6 counties in the north where most of the British people had settled since the 1600's. LOL..out of characters...guess i ramble...

  • Deutschland wurde von irischen Mönchen christianisiert, nicht von Rom.

Männer die solch eine innere Kraft haben, die so herrlich singen nur solche Männer konnten nur die Germanen bezwingen.

  • @koelnerwutzmann There were others .............

  • To Noddy 1690 - about Unionists - sure the island is as their own as the whole world is ours. Anna

  • My grannie loves song, a great Befast lady. may she always rest in peace

  • i love Ireland and Finland, both countrys who are fighting for freedom, before about 20 vears ago I nearly went to Finland or SouthAfrica, I decided, to stay in Germany, and my new "Wife" said to me that i am to german. so I staed in Cologne, my children had been first in an engslih kindergarden, then we got a place in an catholic kindergarden in Cologne, so we stayed in Cologne.

May be i am too german, isit a fault to love my country with all faults?

    God bless Germany and Israel.

  • wonderful song about the unbreakable Irish spirit.

  • This land was always ours,

Was the proud land of our fathers,

It was belongs to us and them

Not for any of the others,

    Let us go

  • Ich liebe diese Musik und diese Gruppe seit über 30 Jahren.

  • BRASIL

  • unite irishmen and women! briliant lyrics

  • The united Ireland for Irish!!!!Anna

  • @hissphillips What about the Unionists? It is their island too!

  • @Noddy1690 I don't mind there being unionists on the Island as long as it belongs to the Irish. If unionists were interested in being united with the rest of Ireland instead of England, the Republic would be glad to have them.

  • Best version of the song, luke sings it with such passion in this live version! "high above their shining weapons flew their own beloved green"...that part makes the hairs stand up on the back of my neck, and brings a tear to the eye when i blast it out on the cd player full volume! GO ON LUKE YA LEDGE!!! what a man...and what a song

  • I love this song... It remainds me something that was lost ... Love of the Country

  • It's ridiculous how some of Luke's greatest, most inspirational performances seem to attract such negative, hateful remarks that will only ensure another generation of tears. This song is a celebration of the innate sense of freedom found in the human spirit, therefore rejoice when you hear a voice like this singing it out.

  • @NellyPringle hear hear Nelly!!!

  • Luke Kelly is one of Irelands greatest sons

  • Ireland was robbed of it's chance for independence. The huge, statist mass known as the EU just went right over the head of the people who had rejected them time and again. We here in the U.S. (especially us Irish Catholics) stand with you Ireland!

  • Down with the free state and the british, who fears to speak of 1798, Ireland is not a nation yet we all need to keep doing what we can for our nation, Tiocfaidh ar la.

  • Bigshow this is great where did you get it. what album? thanks a lot!

  • What I only said good song? I am also not American.

  • Screw Americans?? Cocksucker!! Why do you live in America LibranEsq?? You chicken-shit internet tough guy.

  • That's not quite what you were saying back around 1914 and 1939. Singing quite a different tune back then.. Matter of fact, after the war you were saying pretty much the same thing. Something about the USSR? Funny how times change.

  • American here, and of German lineage so no dog in this fight. However, I love both the Brits and Irish people because they are about the only folks we can trust anymore. As for this song, it rocks and is very inspirational. As for history, all of our countries have a lot of skeletons in the closet.

  • Well i am english, part Irish but all my heart is in Ireland and always will be!!! What Britain did to Ireland was pure evil at its highest, and the republic have every right to hate them! ERIN GUH BRAWK

  • If you had the luck of the IrishYou'd be sorry and wish you were deadYou should have the luck of the IrishAnd you'd wish you was English instead!john lennon said that prick. get a grip, not the irish peoples fault that the president of USA tells your "free choice" PM" how to manage your army!

  • yeah ok. that was my mate messin on my youtube. i'm irish

  • spoken like a true drone (all drones need a queen)

  • I love this country but it won't be anytime soon that we get a united country, Japan has, Scotland almost has but it will be a long time coming,..if ever before we do..damn DeVelera!

  • Why shouldnt northern Ireland be separate if you accept scotland can be independent then it means it is okay to partition one island so why not another

  • scotland is its own nation as is ireland the island may be divided with scotland but the nation is not

  • 26 + 6 = 1

  • well Sean 26 + 6 = the irish republic of today as Council reorganization created 6 more counties , so now you have the 32 county Ireland you always wanted LOL

  • sandy row you dirty wanker i hope you and yours experiance death and desease

  • well as people like you are a disease I guess I am already experiencing it

  • your right im a unrelenting, infectious disease that there's no cure for,im spreadind everyday i am called PATRIOTISM...........IRELAND FOR THE IRISH

  • gt2e Your buddies voted yes to the Lisbon Treaty and consigned the concept of IRELAND FOR THE IRISH to the scrap heap.400 MILLION EU citizens have the RIGHT to come and live in Ireland. The disease you suffer from is CJD- mad cow disease which eats your brain away until you have no reasoning functions left. Also please accept my condolences for republicans (Fianna Fail - the Republican Party) etc for giving away the legacy of Connelly, Pearse Collins, at least Ulster never sold out Carson

  • oh ye of little faith, underestimating the irish is the rock you will perish on,words are cheap this is my last response the celts are a race of action ill leave the shit talk to the tans

  • What do you know?Connelly would never have died for Ireland to see what a joke we have become.Collins never would have been Irelands greatest son if he knew what we have become today

  • @gt2e Well BOYO and what of the Irish in Ameica?

  • @ernstbecker1 what do you mean by that ??

  • @gt2e Once upon a time, the Irish were welcome in other lands. The same history, diferent folks. Listen When The Boys Come Rolling Home.

Fight for freedom and against opression, but following their footsteps.

  • Tiocfaidh ár lá

  • free Ireland! john from Hellas(greece). i just love this country and i wish i could see a free and united Ireland one day!

  • Hi 1981 Retro, as you are still repressing the Moslems of Western Thrace I think you should start with getting a free Greece before worrying about Ireland and we all know about Enosis and what your people tried to do in Cyprus

  • we will be united it is inevitable

  • Another great one!

  • To the heart, by the heart , and from the heart -- oop the Rebels !

  • They won't break me because the desire for freedom, and the freedom of the Irish people, is in my heart. The day will dawn when all the people of Ireland will have the desire for freedom to show. It is then that we will see the rising of the moon. -BOBBY SANDS R.I.P

  • wish I could find the alternative version to it - the reluctant patriot. I know the Dublin City Ramblers did a version, but it appeared on a tape my dad had in the late 80s, without any credit on the cover.

  • its a great song but is defintly better versions

  • I love this song and had to see it on video. God bless you tube.
