I went with my school to see the play. I cried through this part. I was just beautiful. How they put the father's face together in stuff you just have to see it. I LOVE the whole play but this part was just amazing.
@Robohobofication I was 29 when this movie came out. I may have chronoligically been 29 years old but when I saw this in the theatres back in 94 I was suddenly 8 years old again...
OMG taiiwo i did that on ma moms phone i watched like 8 zombie apocalypse vids then listened to this song 2 times then the "can you feel the love tonight" one i passed out cause it was so awesome...
@The505Guys Oh God, not another one of you types. The role should go to whoever does it best, not because they have a "(insert color) guy quota" to fill.
I saw the broadway version when it was in sydney, back in... 2004? (it was like a century ago so whatever) and it was pretty good for a musical.
usually i hate theatrical plays, but that was really good, especially the little simba cub fluffy toy that rafiki holds up, it had batteries or something to make the legs move...
17 people couldn't feel the love of Lion King, and it's legendary greatness. If you were a child when you first seen this back in 1994, You know what I mean. Lion King forever. Mufasa lives in us all.
@dummies123abc because the voice of the singer is dissapointing to those how remember the original. Sorry...she may have a great voice, but I grew up with the version of the film, so this just sounds odd to me.
BUT, nevertheless I DIDN`T DISLIKE this. Just because I respect the singer.
@dottiedots221 This song was actually from the sequel to the lion king, The Lion King 2 Simba's Pride. The sequel is not as good as the first, but if your going to compare everything to The Lion King your setting yourself up for failure. The sequel is one of the better sequels Disney has made to an incredible movie like the lion king, it's still worth a look if you're interested.
@MrLolalolalola101 Sorry, i didnt try to compare for the three things. i was just saying :) and yeah about it being it in the sequel. the sequel was great, not as good as the first of course :)
This was an absolutely amazing play. Im still stunned from last night. I fufilled my dream since i was maybe 7 years old to see this play and it didnt let me down at all.
Unfortunately I haven't seen The Lion King musical show, but I'm DEFINENTLY falling in love with it via youtube...But I'm confused.. Which character is singing this song?
@beggingtoescapexx I think that's the whole point. It reminds Simba of Mufasa (obviously), and it also kinda reminds me of my dead father, but it also makes me think of some grand, divine power watching over us all, whether you want to call it God, Gods, Magick, the Universe, Physics...whatever. But yeah, you're definitely not the only one getting that vibe from this song.
@beggingtoescapexx You could imagine the word they in place of he. Its still has the same meaning and same effect, but takes away the feeling of god as a separate entity.
i managed to see this in London last night at the Lyceum... the film's been my favourite film ever since i was a kid and this was amazing!! fantastic production!
this is just awesome!!!! why 16 dislikes??? the music is rather positive and uplifting... this is one of the best Broadway plays in History... just stunning
@siyafrica I also saw it in SA, best musical/play i have ever seen, i thought the SA version was even better than the one on broadway. did you see it at the teatro??
i watched the musical of this in the west end recently and i knew ALL the words to this even after not seeing the film for 7 years!! Makes me cry everytime <3
@beggingtoescapexx i know what you mean. by the way, here's a tip for making a religious refernce without wanting to offend anyone: i alwasys use the term "great spirit" because it covers all religions. that way, no one's left out/
@SuperClassis Sorry but I really hate everything about germany, the people can be allright I don't know them personaly, but really you comment alone is wtf.
I work at a parc, no german even tries to speak english or dutch they just ignore us and keep talking german, even french, who also never speak english, try it atleast.
You all are lucky that dutch people know how to speak and understand german, english, and most of uss even speak french. I've seen almost non who can speak english sorry.
@Lessur90 what you've said is rather rude. You can insult a whole nation because of the few people you've met. You've hardly met MOST os Germany to be able to make an accurate judgement and anyway who is any one person to judge another?
When you meet German people in your country do you try to speak German? Exactly.
@SuperClassis my statements are based on what I've learned by working for germans, belgium and french people.
I don't suck it out of my thumb, and sorry if it in any way has offended you or others, but I read your sentence and really I immidiatly became a little bit angry.
@beggingtoescapexx well of course, that's the sense of the movie in general...Mufasa represents the allfather, and Simba stands for the mankind, that's why he (or we?) has to find that divine prescence within himself
@chessykit I gotta say, I went to the movies this friday 4th time to watch it. But that's just wut I understood from that scene's symbolysm, perhaps the writers and director had a different vision, who knows?
@SamuelLordJackson It always seems so, that the writer would have thought about something completely different. But your interpretation was one that made you think about the movie in a deeper light, or at least one I understood. I probably will have my own interpretation when I see the movie again, but right now yours is close to what mine would be~
@fizzyopolis And who's to say that "every important person you've loved and lost, anyone who was impacted your life and changed you"....isn't the same exact thing as God? =P
@waterkeeper511 Individual beliefs and interpretations. I said it didn't remind ME of god. If it reminds someone else of god, then that's their interpretation of the song. o/
haha, totally. i did a dance to this song in my dance company, and we're a christian dance company. if u listin to it, u can tell it kinda has a christian sound to it. :)
this musical changed my life. I had watched the movie so much when I was little, (it was my favorite) but this musical physically changed me. and this song is a lot of the reason why. There are only a few things in the world that I can say are physically a part of me, and this is one of them.
@beggingtoescapexx This song doesn't remind me on god... It reminds me on some ancient warrior ancestor and how his spirits lives on in me... Well that's how I understood the song :)
SO let me get this straight...I should thumbs up YOU because I saw it? Hmm that doesnt seem like a thing that would benefit me for having seen it now does it. Oh your clever girl you.
@Jangsaverem I don't really know all the details about YouTube. I didn't think you were giving me a thumbs up I thought it was like "liking" a comment on Facebook
Naw I knew what you were getting at. I just find these types of comments funny in that sort of way. You got a "like" none the less though I have no idea if they actually do anything. I watched it like Last Spring.
@beggingtoescapexx i actually first heard this song at a catholic youth day event without realizing that it's from the Lion King! what's even more ironic is that the youth day event took place at a convention center right next to Disneyland. xD it was love at first tune. the whole band used this song during the meditation. the singers were amazing, the dancers were amazing, and the choir was phenomenal. they did a good job covering this song. I did record it but somehow i can't find it. :(
Since this is actually from the second movie, I was really glad they added it into the musical. It's easily the most hauntingly beautiful song in the show.
@treput92 Urrrm, the musical came out long before the second movie. It was featured in "The Rhythm of the Pride Lands" that was released a year after the first movie. A lot of the songs on TROTP if not all, were turned into the music for the Broadway musical.
I saw this on Broadway in New York and it was so powerful. There is something about the whole song that is so spiritual and pure. You can't sit still while listening to it.And it also made me proud as an African-American to see how well these men, women, and children perform. (Because a majority of the cast is African-American.)
@XxBlakeGriffin32xX I know right. I saw this in charlotte one time and it just blew my mind how awsome it was. It truley brings a different prespective to lion king.
This song lifts me up so much. We sing it at my church and I didn't know this was from Lion King when I heard it. I saw the musical after and was surprised. So much spirituality in this song n it doesn't matter ur religion.
I went with my school to see the play. I cried through this part. I was just beautiful. How they put the father's face together in stuff you just have to see it. I LOVE the whole play but this part was just amazing.

Cried when I saw this on Broadway. Most amazing thing I've ever seen in my life <3

I never met Jason or heard him live...but his voice penetrates the soul and I know that somewhere he lives on singing his heart out

I saw The Lion Kind on Broadway in Chicago, and it was absolutely amazing. It made me fall in love with The Lion King all over again.

This song lifts me up so much. We sing it at my church and I didn't know this was from Lion King when I heard it. I saw the musical after and was surprised. So much spirituality in this song n it doesn't matter ur religion.
