@EMS8643 Officially its the Spectre. They're sometimes called Puff the Magic Dragon but not often these days. Puff of course was the AC-47 Gunship which featured in the movie The Green Berrets so thats one way it became popular. Puff was a very real aircraft that flew combat over Nam. It was a C-47 Dakota armed with 3 miniguns in the left side. Basic, but proved the Gunship concept and quite a few were converted and eventually passed on to South Vietnam. Hope this helps.

I believe the AC-130U currently sports one 25 mmm gatling gun, 1 40 mm bofors cannon & 1 105 mm howitzer. There was a plan to replce the 25 & 40 mm guns wiht 2 30 mm chain guns but it proved technically problematic. Not sure about all the details.
