you finished the video just before the piece of music i wanted to hear starts. this is the greatest scene ever devised by man and you ruined it by cutting it off just at the most powerful bit. and for this i hope you are horrifically maimed and then killed... you cunt
@Tizzyization the younger man (Ralph) was always in love with his servant Ted (the older man.) The series just showed clips of their time together. The humour comes from the bitter sweet awkwardness of Ralphs love.
How is it possible to write a sketch that conveys such a rollercoaster ride of emotion in such a short time? THIS deserves an Oscar, not the self-serving industry that is the Hollywood nepotistic industry...sorry, rant over and done with now.
I am so glad to see that others felt the way I did when I first saw this sketch, the clever use of Thomas Tallis crescendo at the point where Ted collapses at the end brought me to tears when I first saw this 10 years or so ago. Very clever for a otherwise funny comedy show, its fair and honest to say that seeing it today, that it still manages to exact a emotion from me. shame its does not carry on for the last 10 seconds or so.
If these two never get a lifetime achievement award in twenty years time theres a criminal injustice--It's devestatingly brilliant and moving. The music is fantasia on a Theme, Composed by Vaughan Williams from a Thomas Tallis original.. Beautiful..and yes, if the original poster could re post it and extend the end to play the rest, it would be much appreciated.
yes I agree very moving.I actually went wet eyed in the closing seconds when he semi collapses and Ralph helps him, because Ted isn't really one for showing emotion which made his his character funny. it also makes the moment more poigenant....thanks for posting
Although a comedy sketch, this episode was so touching. The familiar characters led us to believe there might be a humourous ending but that last shot of the pair walking away with Ralph supporting a suddenly stricken Ted moved me to tears. Excellent acting.
Your Welcome, if you like that music check out the piece: The Lark ascending by the same composer, probably his best known piece (It's on Youtube). Enjoy
one of the most poignant pieces of comedy ever written-see Rowley Birkin last scene for similar change of stride from humour into pathos-quite beautiful
What what! now i want to see the ending everyone is talking about!
Could someone please upload it here?
As a christmas-present for all of us? :3

great sketch, poorly rendered. the frames missing from the end are the most compelling.

How can one explain this run of sketches to the casual observer? Moreover to someone not in tune with British humour. Wonderful stuff.

so beautiful, and deeply moving.
was terribly disappointed that
these two did not end up in a
happier relationship - had
expected it in spite of the
improbability!

Brings tears to my eyes when Ted nearly collapses and Ralph supports him T.T

That scene was cut short too soon - that music really soars at the end there, where Ted semi-collapases and Ralph puts his arm round him in support.
Comedy and utter poignancy rolled into one - brilliant, and an inspired choice of music in there for this final scene too.
