@nigg3 Lovely writing... but with some of the dialects it's a bit harsh sounding!!! Plattdeutsch, Kölsch, any Austrian dialect... it sounds harsh to some other nationalities.

I live in NRW. "Meine Freund" speaks Ruhr-PottSprache. I thought it was difficult to understand his English... until I heard his German.

It's very beautiful, but not logical. I am literate in German, but I can't speak it or understand it because it sounds so different from how it looks.

well i would have to disagree because i have been learning it for the past 3-4 years and i believe grammatically it's the most logical of the 3 languages i speak, and it's also more phonetically loyal than English, for example, or French. I don't think it sounds, at all, different then it looks.

@acceptanceisbliss yeah, only that when I look at a book in german, for instance, all I see are pointy symbols, somewhat like thorns in a sequence...probably because of the high content of "z" , "v" and "k" u. a.....but I guess we could say that's just me...

I've heard people speak German - TOKIO HOTEL!!!! I don't believe it's an angry language, it's just they way most americans pronounce it that makes people think it's an ugly language... If you heard 1000 meere from tokiohotel, you would know... :)
