most bands dont make music from the acctual music, they get money from the touring and merchandise sales, the money from cds/mp3s/vinyls/tapes/hologram discs goes to the record label, who in turn dont help out bands at times since the album has to go through the heads of the record company to be approved before it can be printed and all that, but thats only with some really big record labels
