  • looks great! check out my channel to see the one I made for my iphone with a binder clip. Quick and easy!

  • you should pich this to a company, you could make a killing off it

  • what is that thing called? the mini shoulder mount?

  • awesome! :B

  • ah i NEED to do this about how much did this all cost?

  • fantastic. Thanks heaps. Exactly what im looking for, of to the hardware store. Whats your suggested app for a delayed/ count down shoot? like 5 seconds for me to run around in front of the camera before if snaps?

  • @TheLyttleDifference To take a photo? I've seen a stop motion app that takes a photo when you clap your hands, so you don't have to touch the camera.. although if you are in front of the camera that might be a little awkward:)

  • Very smart! Love it!

  • hey youre in okc? noticed the mall

  • You, sir, are the man! Thanks for the video! :-D

  • hey i like both of them :D

  • Velcro mite work

  • Excellent! Good creative job, man!

  • So do you find it better to use a rubber case or a hard shell case?

  • Best tripod yet u should sell this man really

  • Great video helped alot but the cases are almost always silicon not rubber

  • Dude, that was awesome. Thanks for the idea. All the best.

  • Very cool. I just saw the video you did using the N-8 cell from Nikon, wonderful. It's like they say "It's not the equipment but the talent and skill behind the lens". This is true in photography as well. Keep up the good work Kyle, I know you will be on the bog screen soon.

  • @ActivityPhoto LOL Thank you very much for your kind words! That N8 project was very fun to shoot!

  • I made a slide in mount for my 3GS out of lexan and it looks better and works better. I do video themography now with my iPhone 4

  • Nice video mate I can see you share some of the same thoughts about the cameras limitations as they are very obvious with auto focus all the time and the color balancing changing when it feels like it but I think you have done a fantastic job on the home made rig and the music film clip well done!!

  • Would Velcro be good enough to keep the t bracket on the case?

  • Yo Kyle! I made one of these bad boys today and it's working like a charm. Thanks for the video

  • Cool

  • nice man great vid

  • You say ridonkulus a lot. That means bad tho

  • Nice video dude! Where did you get that rolling thing at?

  • @NIKK3800 It's called an indislider.. I have the 36" version. Love that thing!

  • @kevindd27 "Does time goes slower" Think about that next time before you make an idiot of yourself. Over 1.5 million people purchased the iphone4 opening weekend all over the world. I built this because nothing was out yet, and it was universal to fit on all of the gear for my shoot. We shot one of the first music videos on the iPhone just to see if it could be done and USA Today, LA Times, Digital trends and several other media outlets all over the world wrote about it. Give me a break Belgium!

  • @ocdeuce22 you do make it sound incredible but not surprisingly. sounds like typical america to me

  • @kevindd27

hahaha direct te zien dat jij een belg bent inderdaad :P

  • @kevindd27 lmao pwned faggot

  • @kevindd27 you made a douche bag outta yourself

  • @kevindd27 hope your not from the UK because if you are, im so embarrassed, at least he had the creative idea to do this.

  • that's 30 bucks for the mount assembly, ebay has one for less than 5 buckaroos.

  • thanks for this, good idea!

Also thanks for the epoxy note... That would have been my first attempt also... so this saves me some frustration... :P

  • really great job! tnx for sharing it.

  • submit your iPhone Films to the Worlds First iPhone Film Festival at iPhoneFF.com

  • great video. actually interesting to watch what you've done.

  • What kind of camera do you use for your films?

  • @ShakeAndBakeGuy I use several... but the camera of choice right now is the canon 7D and 5D mk II. Both great for filmmaking and work well with Dragon Stop Motion for stop motion projects!

  • Can you please tell me the name of the handheld device you demo?

  • @98E92M3 It's called... Manfrotto Modosteady 3 in 1 Camcorder Stabilizer. I got it for $100... It's not to fully replace a heavy duty shoulder mount but If you're on the go or traveling... it's a great option! I brought it a long on a documentary shoot in Brazil and it worked like a charm!

  • what is that thing that extends into a shoulder mount!?!??

  • Great video. Thanks for the tips. And who's that playing in the cool background music?

  • Great video. Thanks for the tips.

  • I rather keep the cam steady and motion-stabilize it in After Effects :)

  • i was in line from 9 - 1pm haha

  • Or, you know, you could always just go out and buy a tripod that is specifically made for the iPhone 4 for like $40.

  • seams pointless. Since you can just go out and buy a tripod for an actual video camera that shoots 1080p. Instead of making one for a phone that only shoots 720p. waste

  • Nice work dude. Question. Did the modosteady 585 work with your set up?

  • @ingsting8 and @ ocdeuce22 im curious about the modosteady combo also

  • Man were did you learn how to speak the english language??? SO like so like so like so like I like... WTF?

  • @rmstudio lol I'm not a talker... I make movies!

  • So fun. I subscribed to your channel two hours ago because of your stop motion movie and now I find your DIY tripod. It seems we have at least these two suff in common ;-)

  • Where did you get that dolly?

  • @Gregorysdrunk There are several pocket dollys like this. Mine is the '36" indislider' .

  • very cool tnx

  • Thanks for this! Inspired me to go out & make my own.

  • you from westlake? im from agoura lol

  • Also when you convert iphone4 video to FCP, do you use ProRes format?

  • Thanks for your reply Kyle, I actually decided to set up a iphone 4 video setup after I watched your video. Another question is , 'does manfrotto's shoulder mount or mini slider comes with head to attach your DIY case/plate?

  • Hey Kyle awesome video and awesome plate !! Can you tell me which slider are you using?

  • @undyinsoul Thank you... I use the '36 " indislider'. It's a decent price compared to others out there and does a remarkable job! I've taken that lil guy to Brazil and back (from Oklahoma) ;) I really recommend every filmmaker have one!

  • why the blinds are going upward not downward?

  • Why would you go to these lengths with such a limited instrument? You can't control exposure, color, focus, shutter. It's a pretty cheap device for getting 720p, but why not get a dedicated hd camcorder and have some control? Can you shoot a wedding professionally with this? Or make a corporate video or a commercial with it? It just seems like a curiosity.

  • @johnnyViDeO Yes the whole reason for making this is... Can it be done? There have already been commercials, Corporate videos, Filmatic Shorts, and Music Videos shot with the iPHone 4. I'm a professional filmmaker and made it for our music video we shot. I do agree the hardest part is that it's all auto.. but they've gotta make "an app for that" right?

I'm also in the News Biz. so the fact that I will ALWAYS have an HD camera with me is fascinating!

  • @johnnyViDeO Simple apple simplicity man... You don't have to put anything on your computer, edit rite on your phone and publish.

  • @johnnyViDeO I don't consider making one of these going to any great lengths. Super easy to assemble, way cheaper than any official mount (once one surfaces) and since you more than likely would have your iPhone with you at all times, no need to carry a second dedicated device.

  • That's great, I may try that. But I want to stream video onto UStream some of the time from my phone, and that requires mounting the phone in a "portrait" orientation (ie rotated 180 degrees from what you have here). I guess the answer is to make two different mounts, one for each of the camera positions. This is a brill solution until Owle and Blur and the other tripod adapter folks upgrade their products for the new phone. Thanks!

  • Dude, sweet. Can you show what video looks like when you attach it to the other thing where you can walk around? And possibly up/down stairs? Thanks!

  • maybe the glue didnt work cuz u diidnt put any pressure on it

  • Where did you pick up the Incipio Case? Any idea of combined cost?

  • X shot makes a tri pod mount case for the iPhone 3g. Google xshot iPhone case.

  • You should put the screen protector that came with the case on the back

  • Your creative talent knows no bounds, Nicely done!

  • What head is your 7D mounted on?

  • Nice job. Quick question...did you have problems uploading your iPhone video from your desktop to YouTube. I was able to do it, but for some reason it doesn't show in 720p. Do you know what could be the problem?

  • Excellent work

  • I also want to know what Manfrotto Model you got there. I've been looking at the site and I can't figure out which. It looks pretty wicked for photography while travelling.

  • @melwtan Exactly I got it for using my Canon 7D in Brasil since it's so compact. Obviously not as sturdy as a big boy shoulder mount but for $100 it does a great job!

    It's called a Manfrotto 585 ModoSteady 3-in-1

hope that helps! PS we are shooting a music video with the iPhone tomorrow night... The goal is to have it posted by Wednesday!

  • Any chance you want to make one and sell it? Let me know. Thanks. BTW, I was in line for 8.5 hours starting at 4:15 a.m. Just glad to have gotten one. You mentioned Westlake...as in Westlake, TX?

  • @dfwblah I'm not a hardware guy.. It's really easy to do and works like a charm! I meant ACE Westlake Hardware Store. There is one here in OKC, OK.

  • what manfrotto model is that little guy?

  • @jeremywho It's called a Manfrotto 585 ModoSteady 3-in-1

  • man, you should patent that shit! great work!

  • awesome!!! i cant wait to get my iphone 4!

  • can you send me a link to where you bought the case?

  • @Frankthetank921 I actually just found it from a local Radio Shack (it was their last one). The Apple Store was all sold out and AT&T didn't have any yet!

  • looks AWESOME.

  • GREAT IDEA!

  • Very nice man! Thanks for commenting on my tripod mount!

  • wow man you are a genius.good job man.

  • Very cool

  • That's a pretty good idea.

  • That's sweet but I dont have an iPhone XD

    anyway good idea.

  • Really good design and idea. good job! =]

  • Pretty sweet. I'm interested in general about any hardware that can make my camera footage better.
