  • An amazing story because a young man named Russ Sheppard stepped up to plate and didn't leave those - our - young men behind. Sitting and talking about the problems our boys face isn't enough. We need to engage our young men the way Russ did and what better way than through sports. The Natives call lacrosse The Creator's Game - now you know why! Thank you Russ Sheppard, you are a true Warrior.

  • i too come from a reserve. to see the way these kids embrace the game really touched me. coming from a location where lacrosse is played year round in beautiful facilities i realize that i have taken the sport for granted. seeing this piece made me smile a little more. it makes me a lil homesick to go back to ontario to play. very touching & inspirational story

  • These kids were great! i had the fortunate chance to play with 3 of them when they came to NJ. they were pretty good for the conditions they play in. Keep it doin'!

    I played for lacrosse for a while, but not for the last 20 years.

    After watching this story, I went out and dug out my old gear and went for a run with my lacrosse stick. Fantastic !!!!

  • Very moving story and insprational, at the end when they huddled up it showed how happy they were, this is why i play.

  • I'm proud to say that I was raised in Kugluktuk, Russ Shepherd sure made a big difference in alot of the young lives that roam the streets of Kugluktuk.

    As for Kyle, He has come along way!! and he is still playing Lacrosse, Soo proud of you Kyle, Keep up the good work. :)
