Just noticed that he was wearing pads on his feet as well. Initially I thought he was wearing no pads when I first saw this video. Shows how much power he had in that technique and the precision and accuracy at which it landed. Superb.
@fmarnett Yeah, this is a point tournament, where the focus is on speed and precision, not power. However, there are several professional boxers, kickboxers, and MMA fighters that use the same principles as in point fighting (for MMA, because that's what you mentioned, check some of the Anderson Silva or Lyoto Machida fights) and are very successful. So, while this is not full contact, it teaches speed and evasion, and for anyone who paid attention to basics, adding power isn't difficult.
Ive met Sensei kotaka on Oahu in Hawaii Kai dojo where I used to train and he is a gentlemen. I love that he knocked this guy out. especially after he tried to send sensei Kotaka a "message". Nicely done sir.
he wasn't restrained, he did it on purpose, and did it well. I think he was pissed off that the opponent was agressively grabbing and shoving him after the break.
but robbie is still good at hip hop dancing though.lol.I haven't seen a knockout that bad since I saw george kataka get knocked out by fonsaka at aau nationals in the finals for the gold medal.
I think the guy ran into sensei George's kick when he tried to hit him...nice kick though...does anyone know what the ruling for that was? I sure hope he didn't get DQ for that...
it's funny, as soon as i saw the title i though "kick". george is a great fighter and frankly, i was suprised to see that. it was a beautiful kick, though not needed. i'd be more suprised to hear that he was proud of this.
I know what you mean, but in my humble opinion, George's opponent had it coming. This was just a brief clip, but you can see some of his opponents "shenanigans" just prior to the shot that ended the match. His opponent was outclassed and started roughhousing. I think George showed lots of restraint!
lol if i were george i would have done that first 5 secs. jkjk but i think he should have been able to block that horrible guard position well done george o gammon other guy
yeah it was retarded when that guy through like 3 shots to the head...one is enough to get the point, that was just overkill. that was a great mawashi geri though
i liked George with blond hair better. it said...."I'm professional...but i like to party!" :-) This is a good clip...kindo of sends the message of...don't fight dirty with someone you really shouldn't be in the ring with. (no offense to the guy taking a nap). Rock on George - JKOKentucky
oh man! i was there up in NY! It was so awesome! But man, that guy kinda had it coming to him. It wasn't right to grapple and try to snap in some head shots. Sensei George is awesome, whenever he trains w/ us he always controls (i'm soo happy i don't get kicked :D)
I fought Kotaka at the NKF Nat'ls in the WKF division a few years ago. Admittedly, he hits like a TRUCK. (Bruised 4 of my ribs so I couldn't continue our match - but I fought in repecharge and won the next 4 matches to take 4th.) He's a very skilled technician and that was a perfectly controlled and placed kick. He just happened to catch the guy on the button. I watched Enver Idrizi do the same thing at the European Championships - perfect kick - K.O.
The AAU operates under the same basic rules - medium contact to the body, skin touch to the head for adult division. They *DO* however offer an ippon division that can be a little rougher.
No, his kick was controlled and precise. He didn't "bury" the kick and instead snapped it back after contact. Sensei Kotaka won the match after his opponent was unable to continue.
i thought the tournament did not use electronic scoring. i was attending the same tournament and there were no electronic scoreboards used. i even voluntered
which day did you volunteer, the electronic scoreboards are for NKF sparring, they were only out on friday and saturday. If you attended finals on saturday you would have seen them for some of the matches
i volunteared just the first day. i would have voluntered the second day. but i did not have time to work a table because after my kumate match i left
the scoreboards was for the WKF ruling which alot of the AAU officials don't know, however AAU are implementing the WKF ruling and hope they will continue to do so
more controlled than that AAU a joke there a reason why alot of nkf people dont go there its unfair an a waste of time i was told just home dont bother with the aau now i know why
Unfair? Sure... i'm sensing a little bias. You could have had a bad ref anyways which I'm 100% certain the NKF has plenty of as well. Besides George Kotaka knows what he's doing, he knows how to control his technique his foot didn't go "through" the head. he retracted as someone has said already.
deadly kick

@fmarnett in mma that wuld of been a knockout anyway so doesnt make a diference just like machido macheda hes a karate black belt

what happened to the version where the strat playing the music and they do it in slow mo? They must of took it off and pissed off some parents.
shotojojo1986 1 year ago
1st of all, I blame the ref...
Had he penalized the other guy first... probably wouldn't have gone this way...
The problem with defenitions like "light" or "skin" contact is that they change from ref to ref...
So if the ref is accepting that behaviour, and the player is playing that game...
Well... When you play someone that outclasses you and you try to go for agressive, you must remember he also knows how to let go..
Last but not least... the guy walked into the mawashi... play it Slow Mo...
