Is live completely scripted in Python? also when working in osx do you use cocoa frameworks alot? oh one more quick question what IDE do you guys tend to favour for coding python on OS X? thank you, im trying to learn python so that by the time i finnish uni and give or take a few projects and years i will be proficient enough to start thinking about applying to work with you wonderful people.
They use Python to connect there Applications to the World wibe web.
Live is written in C++. If you want to develop software like Ableton live , you need a good knowledge at DSP , Mathmatics and so on. You also have to develop your skills over years to be able to understand and develop kind like this.
@SebastianBoldt They use alot of python for communication with devices (if i remember correctly), but yeah i found out shortly after posting the main bulk is c++ which is great because I already know c++ comfortably, I'm currently researching the maths behind DSP programming now and am getting back into developing AUs and VSTs to bulk up my experience and vocabulary.
ST
i have great ideas but no way to impliment them so unfortunatly not a great person to have on your team :) if i where better at coding (not so messy) i would be applying every chance i had.
just have my new suite 8 packed, there are a aaalot of sound in there i really love it, for my opinion the only negative in live 8 is the warp mode in audio! in live 7 it was easyer to use and not much time to set a audio track perfect, now it takes longer.
I guess the nice atmosphere @ ableton goes straight ahead into a nice, almost perfect software.
The QA is great and the software is very stable if you remember how complex live is.
As a python developer and Live user since live version 1 I was thinking about to applying for the Python Developer job but unfortunately I left Berlin 7 years ago.
I currently study sound engineering and im hopefully going to study a Degree in sound design....I would love to do sound design for you guys....best DAW ever ;)
i'm studying computer engineering... hope someday i work at ableton. i discovered LIVE when i bought my midi controller, i installed the software and the magic happened. i fell in love with it, its just what i needed, a powerful program with a simple interface. so make room for me i'll be working with u guys someday hehehe.
I started learning programming on my own since I was around 8 years old, and also started composing on trackers (I use Live now) around that age too. I love computing and music, and I'm studying Computer Engineering. This video gave me a lot of inspiration for my future. Working on an audio software company is my dream, and certainly Ableton would be the greatest.
LOL!!! that's what i said too man , they got like a little oasis at work , sick!!
i have ableton installed already...... i went in and think i activated my midi keyaboard to it ........ BUT I STILL HAVN'T MADE 1 BEAT with ableton ....... i don't know ANYTHING about it ...... maybe u could tell me something that would help??
check out my beats aswell.........just posted a NEW MJ remix .peace

Thank you. To answer your question: we don't have any official Ableton blogs, but some of the guys probably blog around in their spare time.
