@markus0neill agreed I love metal but I play licks very slow and clean then build up. Speed hurts worse than playing slow because you build incorrect muscle memory which hurts in the long run.
a big problem with alot of people who are into shred nowadays is that they can play real fast, but they are sloppy as hell. rusty can play super fast, and he can play super clean and smooth too, and that is what really blows my mind. <3 u rusty
put in as many years and hours as he has and you will be too. Im getting damn close but it's taken about 5 years. dont beat yourself up dude just practice. he is the best so do what he says because it must be true

@Maddolis wrong i can shred like a mother and know what im doing too. it's not a year thing like oh at 10 years youre this good and you cant be this good unless youve played this long it comes down to actual time with a guitar in hand and how good your teacher is. seriously should have a vid up asap so i can back up what i say i just dont have money to just go buy a camera.it will happen so keep those comments
@metallifan123 A single video isn't enough to prove that you're at the same standard both musically and technically, but I'll believe it when I see a video of technically virtuosic shredding to a single style, as fast and clean as Cooley. Typical power metal guitarists can shred very well but Cooley's one of the elite amongst the memorable names.
@Maddolis i am using the same dvds/ back then vhs that he used to get to where he is at just let me get my vids up to talk more and i will post one as a "virtuosic" reply of my material that camera is all thats stoppin me man just be ez itll come

If you take it seriously you can do some neat shredding after 5 years but not have the musical knowledge, speed and technical clarity of Cooley.
